I want to go home.

A primal feeling I’m sure. An uncomfortable situation. Unfamiliar surroundings. Through sickness and fear, “I want to go home.”

Lying in a hospital bed. In and out of consciousness the last words my mother uttered, “I want to go home.”

God speed my love. You’ll be there shortly.

My frame is so much smaller than the body that contains it.

I feel as though I’m on the precipice of a life altering revelation. A lesson perhaps, or even an opportunity to change the course of the path I currently walk.

I struggle a lot with my mental health. It has gotten better over the years. Though I still find myself with bursts of energy and joy, and wonder if I’m in an episode. My thoughts fill the silence echoing in my head, broken sentences ringing in my ears. And I think to myself, “My mental health is getting bad again.”

Usually it’ll last a day or a week. A few good sleeps and the feelings fade, the thoughts dampen. I’m left with lethargy. Always one or the other, noticeably so, the highs and lows. It can be difficult to discern the state of balance between the two. In the middle of the poles. At peace. I find it interesting to know when you’ve diverged from normal, without ever recognising what normal is. Never showing it gratitude.

I have found so much joy recently, but now I am tired.
