Checking in again.

So it’s becoming routine, I disappear from tumblr for months at a time then pop back in with excuses for why I was gone. I’ve got a good one this time, well, not good…but anyway.

CANCER.

I was diagnosed with stage 2A malignant melanoma last year.

Yeah…so that happened.

I had surgery in January and everything is looking good so far.

So, I started my new job.

In case anyone hadn't noticed that I had disappeared. The last three weeks have been a whirlwind. Started a new job, my childhood dog died, my grandma had a heart attack and then open heart surgery....I feel like I haven't had a chance to breathe. BUT. Things are settling down. Grandma is finally home from the hospital, and I'm getting into the swing of things at my new job. I've been coping with food, and wasting money, and I almost chopped all of my hair off on a whim. I haven't had a decent workout in weeks. BUT. I'm keeping my chin up. I'll get settled into my new routine. I just have to find and make time to workout and meal prep.

I have been in such a funk lately. I don't know what's wrong with me. Ugh. I have a full time dental hygienist position lined up and I will start as soon as my license is approved. My parents are supporting me until I start my job. I think I'm just feeling "trapped," if that makes any sense. I love being 25 years old, living in my parents basement, and asking them for grocery money 😑. I know that I need to be grateful, I have a good life...I just can't shake this feeling.

Scratches head at lack of said “genuineness” when changing lives for the better by creating something that ACTUALLY helps people, versus these “genuine” people promoting detox diets and starvation. I love crush and what we stand for because we help people, we don’t just say we help people.

Don’t be salty because people are positive about something, feel welcome, and are treated with respect no matter what their background.

Idc if you trash talk me, I’m used to that. Trust me, your opinion realllllly does not matter to my well being in any way. However, I’m not gonna let you trash my team, staff, or anybody involved with Crush, in any way. They are all great people who believe in something real. We’re gonna keep changing lives, beating eating disorders, overcoming depression, finding purpose, spreading body positivity, and helping thousands of people find health and wellness.

I love what I do and don’t lose a second of sleep at night because what I do is exactly that: genuine!

These are throwbacks from an arm day last week, but I just want to communicate how proud I am of myself. 2015 has proven to be a year of self-improvement for this 17 y/o girl. I’ve come so far. I’m the girl who used to spend every day longing for an inverted belly and space between her thighs. I’m the girl who ran 6 miles a day and ate less than 1200 calories. I’m the girl who always wanted to blend in with the crowd. I’m the girl who bullied herself into self-loathing. I am that girl. But I’m also the girl who has fought through the depression, fought through the anxiety, fought through the self-consciousness and has come out on the other side loving herself more than she could have ever imagined. That’s me. I’m the girl at the gym making ugly squat faces but feeling prettier than ever. I’m the girl in school that walks around beaming at people because there’s just so. much. to be happy about in this universe. There’s so much to look forward to. Don’t waste your time frowning at mirrors. Smile. Better yourself. Enjoy this lifetime while it lasts. We’re all going to make it.
