But the War Won't Stop (Intro/Open)
To be honest, the mage had probably never been to an island in general. He had traveled but that had only been for Grey Warden business. He’d never seen Navarra or Oralais, only his home of Ferelden and some broken memories of Kirkwall.
Te other man’s way of talking had been a little unusual. In his experience, most people wouldn’t feel the need to clarify things like that statement being about Daylen and other people from Ferelden out loud.
The mage had no idea where the other man’s office would be, so he followed although still wary. He still had his sword and shield with him if any trouble happened, as well as the power of a trained Ferelden mage.
The mage had tried to remember anything he could about an invitation, but all of his attempts fell flat on their face. Everything was a mystery, which hopefully this other man would have some part of the solution to. And looking at it, the mage doubted anyone would accept an invitation for him. The enemies he had apart fro the Archdemon were dead, and he doubted darkspawn could read. Did Flemeth do this? But… she was also dead wasn’t she? Although Morrigan had said her mother had powers far beyond their knowledge, possibly even rebirth.
The silence gave the mage more time to think which he appreciated, However, that was interrupted by words from the other man which frustrated Daylen more than anything else. So he simply had to reply, in his sort-of-English accent that all Fereldans had. At least, that was what L would probably recognize it as being.
Daylen could not simply ‘forget’ about his old life. Ferelden needed him, the Wardens needed him whether the mage liked it or not and he knew what had to be done. Only he could do it; he couldn’t put Alistair through that.
“If you expect me to simply forget about Ferelden and the duties I need to carry out there then you are simply mistaken.
I do not know who would have accepted an invitation for me or why, but considering I do not wish to be here I only want to find out what this place is before exiting it.”
While an enemy could have easily sent him away for the sake of winning the war for themselves, L was moreso leaning towards the side of a friend or ally doing it. If he had any, perhaps they had wanted to save him from the fate they assumed he would meet.
Regardless, it was almost impossible to tell from the detectives perspective. While he knew very little about Daylen to begin with, he also knew squat about his homeland. In fact, he knew squat about most people's homeland.
Leading the way up to the building, he opened the door and allowed himself in before answering. No, he did not have the manners to hold the door open for Daylen. Whoops.
"You will find it almost impossible to leave. Consider this place a black hole. You may enter, but leaving is hardly an option." While any student may drop out or be expelled, there was a certain strive that he noticed in all the people here. Whether they hated it or loved it, each one remained on the grounds.
Even himself.
"With that in mind, it is better to forget about Ferelden. It will only cause you anxiety and stress to consider the fate of a place you cannot reach." Not that he would know from personal experience. Although his home depended on him to solve all the hard cases, he couldn't muster the sympathy to care for their well being or fright.
In fact, he was fairly sure he had been replaced already by one of his successors. Though, he knew which one of them it wasn't.
