    Another startle - this time a good one. And… he had just arrived, so there was no reason to give in to negative feelings. Otegine’s hug, despite being somewhat desperate, was soothing, and little by little he relaxed.

Lowering down his head, Tonbokiri touched Otegine’s hair with a light nuzzle, while tightly embracing them back. The smaller yari wouldn’t see, but Tonbokiri smiled more genuinely now, and gave them a kiss on the spot he was nuzzling against.

❝ …Let us not think too much into it, shall we? I just wanted to feel you closer… and you are providing that to me now, so everything is fine, right? ❞

With the other’s chin brushing up against the very tip of their hair before the taller spear settled in with a gentle kiss over the said spot, there was a rather - loud - sigh of relief coming from Otegine themselves. When it came down to situations like this, there was a slight thought of ( did I mess up, again? ) Still, Tonbokiri accepted the embrace and that’s all that mattered to the smaller spear.

A vague hint of a hum playing out, Otegine was beginning to lift their head up once they heard a soothing voice coming from Tonbokiri himself. Fluttering lashes as they stared with concentration, there was a smile painting over their lips which perfectly covered up the previous frown which they wore.

❝ Okay... I don’t want to dampen the mood------ Especially since you just arrived! It wouldn’t be a very warm welcoming, huh? A-Aah hah... ❞ Hearing the response sent a rush of blood to Otegine’s cheeks. Taking a gulp, they quickly dipped their head down to avoid eye contact. ❝ Jeez... You really haven’t changed. Still as bold and embarrassing-- N-Not like it’s a bad thing! It’s kinda nice to experience, again... ❞

    A soft sigh escaped his lips when he felt the hug being corresponded, but the sudden withdrawal startled him. Though even after hearing the reason, there was a small part of Tonbokiri that couldn’t help but feel rejected; he missed Otegine, and too much at that. But he stayed calm, and with a smile and a soft bow, a low voice was heard.

❝I apologize. Perhaps I got too ahead of myself, too soon. But if you feel like having one anytime, I will not deny another hug. ❞

Hearing the words that had a hint of negativity being played out the way they did, it made Otegine gasp------ Did they say something that made Tonbokiri say something like that? The atmosphere alone had suddenly became just a bit gloomy, causing the brunette to panic a bit in place. And, without much hesitation, they were placing their arms around Tonbokiri ever so tightly than before, nuzzling their face against the other’s chest.

❝ No! N-No, I---- You didn’t do anything wrong, Tonbokiri...! I swear... I’m just------ I’m sorry, I really missed you. I really did... ❞

Again a smile took over his face. There was something inexplicable happening inside him now that Otegine was there and, moved by it, he took a step closer, and then another, and another, until he was close enough to the smaller yari to give them a tight, warm hug. Time was something that didn’t descrease their closeness; or at least it was his wish.

❝I missed you. ❞

❝ .  .  . ❞ Shaking their head in response, they offered a smile to try and reassure the other. ❝ N-No... No, it’s fine. Don’t worry about it. But... I’m glad I could have made it feel welcoming and all-- ❞

Well, that was definitely sudden. Not in a disheartening manner, but... Still, it surprised Otegine. To be given a hug suddenly like this, and one that was tight and filled with warmth---- Safe, and familiarity. It was nice. Really nice...------ Otegine couldn’t help but return the hug themselves. As they kept the hugging going, they suddenly then pulled away from feeling flustered, cheeks tinted just a bit. Otegine was one who was not exactly used to hugs... Even if it was someone who they are comfortable with.

❝ I-I missed you, too, Tonbokiri! Truly! B-But... That hug startled me a bit... Not in a bad way. It was nice, I promise--!! ❞

          Being called upon like that after so long could be incredibly tiring, and Tonbokiri felt his head spinning the slightly bit. But that didn’t keep him from exchanging smiles while being welcomed, bowing and politely greeting everyone.

That was until a loud bam came from the door. The yari immediately turned to the entrance, somewhat startled; but seeing such a familiar, nostalgic face, made him sigh and smile again.

❝I am indeed here, Otegine-dono. My apologies for the wait. ❞

There was a hint of confusion and excitement filling up the yari’s stomach, a tilt meeting at their head. With a clear at their throat, Otegine rubbed their digits and palm against the back of their neck and let out a bashful laugh here and there before daring on saying a word in return. 

The formality from the other wasn’t a shock, but... There was something about the honourific used that bothered Otegine. Even with trying to shrug it off, they couldn’t exactly do so.

❝ Tonbokiri... You don’t have to use honourifics on me-- Let alone that specific one. ❞ Lets out a nervous laugh. ❝ A-Anyways... Welcome home, Tonbokiri! It’s great to have you here. ❞
