”It’s surprising that anyone can deal with teenagers. Yes, I’m sure every man has dreamt, at least once, to have a shiny engraving hanging on their wall.”
"That's what Martin Luther King's dream was about, clearly."
Watson shrugged at him innocently. “I would’ve, but you already got yourself out by the time the thought crossed my mind.” She replied.
"Well that's just great isn't it? Leaving me to flounder like a pig to slaughter whilst little miss moneybags gropes me." He couldn't fight the amused smirk that tugged at his lips though, until the doorbell rang and he got up to get it. He paid the guy, then brought the box back to the couch, placing it half on his knee and half on hers. "This is so bad for my diet."
[ Text to: Daniel ] No it does not. My parents are coming to town, so you’re safe.
[ Text ] Good. I can't abide those things.
”Mhmm, imagine if you became a regular school teacher instead. Constantly arguing with the troublemakers, probably have a record for sending the most kids down to the dean’s in one school year.”
"Oh, no. No way. I couldn't deal with...with teenagers. I don't know how to talk to kids. But hey, at least I'd have that shiny new Guiness book of records claim."
[ Text to: Daniel ] Thank you~
[ Text to: Daniel ] As long as you come.
[ Text ] I'll go. Does this trip involve a flying death contraption?
Watson sipped her tea, attempting to hold back another laugh. “I’m sorry, I was busy trying to not die from laughter. I mean it was at least a little funny. Besides, what should I have done?”
"From where you were standing maybe! I was too busy trying to keep her hands above waist." He wasn't actually angry, but he was grumpy about it. "Well---- you could have...intervened."

Her laughter didn’t cease. “She look like she was ready to eat you up on the spot.” Watson recalled. “She was the worst out of all of them. At least the other’s had the decency to at least try to keep their hands to themselves.”
"Don't remind me." He visibly blanched and hid behind his coffee mug. "I feel cheap. I need a shower." Daniel laughed slightly, happy that he had someone to laugh it off with. "And you just...just...stood there. Stood there whilst I was being felt up."
{ sometimes i forget Daniel/Joan interactions aren't a legit thing and it makes me sad
”Mhmm, Lewicki and I already had this discussion. We were afraid if you didn’t lighten up soon then you’d end up being that grumpy old man who tells kids to get off their lawn.”
"And that's so bad why? They ruin the grass! What with their trampling and sliding and no thank you."
Watson laughed again, grinning widely. “I saw him drag you over to the woman with the cakey make up, I never seen you glare at him so hard before. I almost couldn’t make myself stop laughing.”
Daniel blanched at the reminder. Being set up was so not his style and especially when it was to cougar-types and widows who had their hands all over him. "I had to tell her I was romantically involve so she didn't molest me on the spot."
[ Text to: Daniel ] Please, I will not last with my mother for six hours on my own.
[ Text to: Daniel ] My brother talked himself out.
[ Text to: Daniel ] I need someone to restrain me for when she starts unknowingly insulting me.
[ text ] Fine, fine. I'll go. [ text ] You owe me for this.
Watson drinks her tea and watches him call in their order. She let’s out a small chuckle. “It is, isn’t it? Not having to force yourself to smile until your cheeks hurt or listening to stories and pretending you care.” She muses.
"Yeah. Less people, too. And no Paul breathing down my neck, forcing divorced women onto me to get them to donate." He takes a sip of his tea and looks across to her, "honestly, he pimps me out for cash. I could sue."
”No one wants to see that to someone they know, but it’s not your place to force them to fix it. For all you know, her meeting this guy could be the best thing for her. Maybe there’s something about him you don’t know. At least you’re not becoming anymore bitter.”
"Yeah, maybe." He scratched his head, then laughed slightly. "Me? Bitter? I'm offended you'd even suggest such a thing."
