i get so emotional every time i think about fanfic culture. it's just so beautiful that people are writing and anonymously posting these thousand-word stories about characters we all love and not even getting any money or public fame from it. it's literally just for the love of the game.

My attempt at Sanemi's Timeline

He's one of the hardest to put up a timeline for. All roads just lead to dead ends (I'm a fool for trying to quantify his age by his height and biology). I can't help but ponder why the author didn't give any concrete ages for his and Genya's flashbacks. The sources I used to create this timeline are: the Manga, the LNs, the first Fanbook and the Anime. For anyone wondering, I worked up his timeline in reverse.

Given everything, here's my guess at how old he was throughout his appearances in the story:

Child (12) - Was a starved, malnourished and overworked child likely his whole childhood (your brother who is 5 whole years younger than you shouldn't be similar in size to you when you are almost in your teens and your brother's not even a decade old) Canonically modulated his voice to sound like an adult, but we do get to hear how he actually sounded when he yells at Genya to run away *sobs*. Hadn't reached puberty yet and it wasn't delayed either considering he was able to achieve his full height potential if my eyeballing of Kyogo's and Shizu's heights is correct (Taisho boys attained puberty between the ages of 12-14). Again, this anime isn't scientific, so I know I'm probably just reading too much into it. Just sharing my observations here.

Hunter with Gardening Tools (12.3 years) - Had to be catching demons on his own for at least 3-4 months seeing how Masachika already knew about him and he had enough demon encounters to realize the special properties of his blood (demon occurrences take place only seldomly). Seems smaller than Masachika here (Masachika is 1-2 years his senior in age).

Final Selection (13) - Must have taken the Final Selection after an year of training with his cultivator. The first fanbook states that a person needs one year of training on average before the final selection. Wouldn't have had any delays since he had no problem in catching up to Masachika who had been in the corps longer than him.

Lower-Ranked Slayer (14) - When he remembers his mother, the phrases used are 'long gone' and 'years ago' so it has to be at least 2 years since. Keeps on complaining about Masachika's nagging so he must've been in the corps for quite a bit now. Was already acquainted with the Kocho sisters too. Is around the same height as Masachika here (meaning he probably finally hit puberty).

Kinoe (16) - Kinoe Masachika says that he and Kinoe Sanemi have had 207 duels. Now, demon slayers don't exactly get holidays, and Sanemi is consistently shown to refuse taking days off even to rest and heal after he's been injured so the chances for having those duels would have been few and far in between. Calls Masachika an old friend and keeps feeling nostalgic about his old days as a slayer in the training dojo so surely, they go far back. Was stated to have grown taller than Masachika here. Taking everything into account, I would say they have known each other for the past 4 years at least.

New Wind Hashira (16) - Defeated LM 1 Ubume together with Masachika and became a Hashira. Even though he still knew Kanae and talked to her before, actually befriending a Hashira and caring enough for her to always ask after Shinobu would have taken him no less than an year of being a Hashira together with her (since you can't really meet one if you aren't one yourself) and she dies when they're both 17.

Current Wind Hashira (21) - Was born on November 29th at Kyobashi Ward, Tokyo Prefecture (modern-day Kyobashi, Chuo Ward). Is 179 cm tall and weighs 75 kg.
