... the Golem was labelled ' Adam ' -- so what of the man ? What if his name is... Muriel ?
Hear me out. I'm tossing this out as I watch a video about the Angel Abaddon... wait, that sounds familiar to you? But of course it would! Because, in ZONE, the oneshot that is the precursor to our beloved D.Gray-Man, there is our protagonist named Robin, their Master, Cross, and the ancient holy relic that gets left in their care, known as Abaddon.
Watching a video talking about this angel really started to get the gears turning in my mind. As you know, The Earl is my most beloved, favourite character in the entirety of the series. I love him like crazy ; but I've always wondered... the Golem was labelled ' Adam ' in that one exhibition in Japan, yes? But think of this, for a moment ; in VOLUME 25 ' HE HAS FORGOTTEN LOVE ', we see Mirror ! Mana mention Adam outside of themself. As if Adam is someone else.
That always puzzled me. It was always a ' huh, that's kinda funny. Weird. '
But man let me tell you, watching this video about Abaddon has now given me something new to chew on ; and that's my theory that our beloved Earl, not the Golem, but the man with the elven ears ( as seen in vol. 25, yes, these are the Ancient Texts, you go back and read through volume 25 this instant! ), the one who split into Mana and Nea... what if he is the Angel known as ' Muriel ' -- what if he is ' Abaddon '.
I absolutely want to write something far more cohesive when I get a chance to, as I'm pretty busy, but this is something I want to incorporate into future artwork with him, too, since this is a theory that -- even if it turns out it's far off the mark -- I'd still love to have as a keepsake of sorts. It's always fun to theorize, and even more so when it's about a character you're passionate about.
If you do watch the video, I'd love to hear your thoughts on the notion! Either way, I am absolutely going to be writing drabbles and drawing things with this in mind. Rubs hands together.
