— BIOGRAPHY

An only child born to doting parents with little income or way of improving their situation, Hannah was a special kind of spoiled. She couldn't necessarily get whatever she wanted, but she understood that if she truly yearned for something it would take very little to get to what it was that she desired. This led to a tumultuous teenage turnabout; boyfriends came and went with all the trappings of young love and gifts were used to ply her (or so they thought) and gain favor. Hannah can count on one hand the amount of times she's actually felt anything close to love, but it didn't stop her from pushing those boundaries and creating opportunities for herself. A desire to come beyond her meager childhood and make a life for herself means that she fell into all the worst things she could do for a little money. It wasn't that she was a bad person or even that she didn't care about who she hurt to get there, but in the end she understood that she had to take care of herself above all else and do what it took to make that work. A hiccup in her plan came in the form of Judah, someone who truly made her feel something and made her care beyond those brief moments. HIs association with the Cartel scared her, and long before she would allow herself to be seduced by the idea of gang affiliation she warned him against it; hindsight was always 20/20 with Hannah and for once she cared more about the well-being of someone else than herself, which led to her leaving when things got far too tense. A couple of years later and she was in her own sort of rut; she took up a position as an exotic dancer, suddenly flooded with money and content to flaunt it as best she could. Eventually she fell in the sway of the Brotherhood and became an associate, using her position as a dancer to garner information and pass it along to the higher ups, both securing a position as an informant of sorts and feeding her own desperate need for power and attention.

Ride or Die — Hannah needs that one person that she's known for a while that has become her go to for advice and help; this person would be someone she cares about but both of them understand they take themselves first. I just want some good love and angst in here. Addiction/Bad Influence — the irony of this one is that she was literally getting down on someone she loved for basically the same thing, but now she's sort of lost control of herself a bit. She needs someone who feeds her new addictions (likely sex and/or alcohol) and encourages this in her. They realize they're a bad influence and they don't care because they enjoy watching Hannah cut loose. Anything and everything! — please come to me with ideas. I'll probably be down for all of them.

This wasn’t an odd sight to see. Hans, worn down to his bones, drinking alone at a bar. He was only half out of his work clothes; with his suitjacket and tie locked in the car, he was left with a dress shirt and pants, the buttons down to his collarbone undone. Exhaustion in its most honest, sleazy form. He’s cutting down on the alcohol — but the short glass is tame, for him.

Across from him, he catches a glance of a girl, and if at all possible, she look worse. Not unlike Hans to point it out.

“What’s the story?” Of her misery, that is.

Another long night and she felt about as good as she could be expected to; the money was good but sometimes — just sometimes — she got rundown by the day to day doldrums of being an exotic dancer on any given day. You have handsy men who think they own you because they dropped a few dollars or, occasionally, the woman who gets overly familiar and makes you feel like a specimen.

She was, for that reason, not really in the mood for much, instead cradling a drink in her hands and taking a long pull as Hans spoke. Her head tips to the side, regarding him for a moment — still had another job after this too, gods the misery was inescapable — and exhaled, “Work is long and tiring and yet it keeps me in luxury so I’m stuck.”

“i’m   a   grown   ass   man   who   still   doesn’t   know   how   to   like…properly   flirt   with   another   man.   that’s   pretty   pathetic   right?   i   keep   thinking   the   older   i   get,   i’ll   get   less   awkward   and   ya   know,   better   at   it   but   here   i   am…   33   and   still   socially   awkward.”   he   was   ranting,   he   knew   it.   russell   had   that   tendency   and   those   that   knew   him   were   used   to   it.   the   pianist   ran   his   hands   through   brown   locks,   “maybe   i   need   to   practice.   can   i   practice   on   you?”   the   lanky   man   grimaced,   “sorry…bad   joke.   and   sort   of   creepy.”

As her long nails raked across the lee of her shoulder, the places her quick wash down after work hadn’t quite reached, glitter fell across her chest and to her lap. She was intent on Russell’s ranting, but knew better than to stop him when he was on a roll as it might just start another flow down a different path; better to let him work it out. 

“Well, babes, I’m not a man so it probably still wouldn’t work but... honestly? You don’t need to do anything but be you. The problem with trying to learn to flirt is like... it presents a version of you that isn’t true. If you’re looking for someone long term that ain’t the way??” she pauses, digging glitter from beneath the aforementioned nail, “and if you’re just looking to get laid? It really doesn’t take flirting it just takes a willingness to ask.”

“don’t   look   now .   .   .   but   that   cutie   by   the   bar   is   totally   checking   you   out.   so,   need   me   to   be   your   wingwoman   or   bodyguard?   i’m   good   for   either.”   trying   to   gauge   if   they   were   interested   or   creeped   out.   she’d   probably   make   a   pretty   terrible   bodyguard   but   it   was   the   sentiment   that   counted.

“Sounds about right,” Hannah said through a sigh, dark lips pressed to the edge of her glass and taking a quick drink before she continued, “How about we flip it and get you laid instead?” There was a sort of tilt to the smile Hannah wore at that moment, apparently enjoying games more than getting laid. Or maybe she enjoyed both equally and just saw more opportunity in this one, who knows.

Her baby was the most beautiful thing Mirela had ever seen, but she was dealing with the “enchantment” of the first days with a newborn. Erika barely cried during the nights, but Mirela would wake up once, sometimes twice during her sleep to assist her daughter. She was thankful for her sister to be there by her side, looking after her niece during the days when Mirela was taking some precious naps. The thought of hiring a nanny was tempting, especially for when her maternity leave was up, but she wanted to be there for her baby, to nurture that bond between mother and daughter she felt she didn’t have with her own mother, even if that costed her the black circles under her eyes. She finally was receiving her close friends to the penthouse, to start socializing again, but also to show off her gorgeous little girl. After the doorman called telling her she had visitors, she checked her reflection at the mirror for a second and after thinking she was decent with a clean shirt, she headed to the door ro welcome the person. “Hey you”

Making friends was surprisingly easy for Hannah; it wasn’t something she really had to try at because, beneath it all, she was charming. It wasn’t something she boasted about, but neither would she deny that it existed. Confidence and self-awareness go hand in hand, most of the time.

That being said, making friends with someone like Mirela had taken more time and consideration. A random encounter at the museum and a few conversations turned into herself being the younger, bad influence on the woman — though she didn’t try to do that much now that Mirela had a baby to take care of.

“Hey, sorry I was going to bring a gift but usually I bring booze and I don’t think that’s a wise gift for you, you know? Nursing and all... uhh... she’s lovely.” Charming though she may be, Hannah didn’t know what to do with kids but she was trying, “Really I mean it. Even if I sound like I don’t.”

Being a free agent meant that Hannah could work any club on any night and make however much she wanted. She floated from place to place in a new wig with less and less clothing coming between her and her goals. This meant she rarely crossed paths with the same customers two nights in a row, and it left a level of anonymity that kept her from getting too many hangers-on and stalkers who would — for lack of a better term, anyway — grapple onto her and make life difficult. Yet, it left her with a sort of allure that people wanted to see her again. She was like a mirage in the desert, a brief repose from the humdrum (or sometimes hectic) ways of their lives. An exotic flower in a sea of the same that brushed across your flesh like a wisp and had all the trappings of a burst or fresh air.

Tonight she was in rare form, hair hanging around her shoulders to shroud what bare flesh was apparent already as she slipped between tables with the movements of a humanoid snake; her hips were fluid and her eyes were bright as she offered a smile bordering on coquettish — a promise she had no intention of keeping on most nights.

As her fingers brushed against the nape of one male, she leaned across to catch his eye and came up short, blinking several times with thick lashes and allowing herself a moment of bewilderment before she forced a smile — maybe he wouldn’t even recognize her — before speaking softly towards Judah, “And what did we have in mind tonight, sweetheart?”

The derivatives of ennui often lead him astray. The current exhibit displays his inhibited mind, clattered with thoughts that he does not want to entertain, mostly the searing ones, too heavy for a moment clasped between the teeth of fatigue. As such, he searches for a place baptised anew, the neutral territory a lapse between thoughts that tend to skew towards the crimes that mar the city underneath its glam. He knows it too well, but nowadays, he doubts that any place isn’t actually accentuated by some bias to an extent. Still, it’s none of his business. To plenty, he’s another face that remains a fool, oblivious to the ire of the brewing battles, so he’d rather capitalise on that than having to act otherwise.

He chooses the stool right in the middle of the bar, settling on it before ordering a glass of bourbon on the rocks. Nothing too unconventional. He looks around for a brief moment, but fixates his attention on his phone eventually, scrolling down the social media. Nothing interesting, but his thumb keeps going, and going, and going, until someone claims the seat next to him. He pretends to not acknowledge their presence, as if engrossed in his own phone, waiting for them to say something, anything, if they do really know of him, at least as this privileged fool sitting on top of the food chain.

It’s easy for most people to blend in, even in a city where there’s so much going on. Hannah doesn’t really like that; she exists to stand out and be seen, but she refuses to be obnoxious about it. Instead, she just kind of... effervesces. It isn’t a conscious effort to be seen but instead a delicate application of her hair coiffed in just such a way and a top that was cut high in some spots and low in others; not so much high society but definitely fashionable.

Her position wasn’t chosen for any reason — Max didn’t really appeal and she could almost sense that she wouldn’t appeal to him — but she settled in there regardless and ordered a drink; a surprising cognac instead of some sort of fruity nightmare. It wasn’t that she was speaking directly to him or the tender, but as her drink arrived she exhaled against its edge and took a drink, murmuring, “I can’t believe I’d rather be working.”
