What do I like most about my learning?

I love being able to put what I'm taught into practice, which is why being a Media Arts Production major works so well for me. The way I learn isn't with tests and studying, but doing what I am learning to get a more comprehensive grasp on it. This class really does that well in my opinion, where most of what we learn and are expected to know can be practiced within this group. The projects and writing assignments also help because they aren't just essays, but comprehensive projects that highlight what we do well and areas to focus on.

Hey! I also think this class does a great job applying the focus of doing the actual work to be successful rather than doing a bunch of exams and calling yourself an expert.

Favorite Part of Learning

The one thing I like the most about my learning was how it was applicable to future circumstances. Unlike most classes that have a person memorize a fact only to then forget it by the next test, this course had me apply my knowledge of writing concepts. I got to test my conception of the textbook’s information and I received feedback about my areas of struggle. Even though I already did have a decent grasp of what writing is, I found myself more interested in visual design now that I found that writing could involve units such as color and line shape.

Hey! I also found that I liked visual design more from this course It is more fun to create visuals for writing than it is to write something extensive.

What Do You Like Most About Your Learning?

What I like most about my learning is that I was able to gain a different perspective on creating content. I am used to getting the communications standpoint on creating content and not the writing or English standpoint. So I have learned quite a few things such as keeping audiences in mind and the importance of content strategy. Although I have learned this in my communications courses, this class helped with understand that these are the purposes for creating content.

What Do You Like the Most About Your Essay?

What I liked the most about my essay was that I got to reflect on the projects I created throughout the semester. I created some great projects throughout this course. Some of the projects such as the Information Literacy project were some that I had forgotten. My mind is constantly on the next thing or project and I had forgotten what that project was. After finding the project, I realized that it was a great creative project that I enjoyed making. My favorite project was the Content Analysis Project because I got to showcase some of my favorite YouTubers.

Communication

Communication is another critically important skill to have in the future. Given that we're coming out of COVID where everyone was locked inside and devoid of communication, this should be even more relevant. Communication is how things get done. People NEED to communicate with each other. Not just in the work place but in casual interactions as well. Communication makes for cleaner relationships both in the work place, with your friends, and with people in general.

Hi! I like how you mentioned that communication makes for cleaner relationships. I think that is very true the more that we communicate the better our relationships with others will be.

What is Learning?

Learning is a really complicated subject to try and define. Learning is something we do all the time without even thinking about it.

Think about the phrase "you learn something new every day". This sounds like an exaggeration but its true. Every time you open social media you "learn" about the people you follow. You learn about the state of the world. So learning extends further than just academic things.

Speaking of literal academic learning I think this is best defined as someone's comprehension of a given subject being taught. Grades are supposed to be a metric of how well someone is learning but this is hardly the case. Exams are something people study for then forget a week later. That's not learning. Learning is really being able to comprehend and gain value from what it is you're being taught.

I like how you mentioned the phrase "you learn something new every day". It is so true we are constantly learning from other people or through our own research all the time.

What is Content?

Content is a form of communication that is visually appealing. Content is usually seen digitally on social media platforms or on artistic platforms. Content can be in the form of videos, music, art, images, and more. Content is meant to entertain or engage with a certain audience. Without an audience or focus, your content isn't really being useful. Content can also be as simple as text that gets people's attention.

What is Learning?

Learning is the act of retaining and processing information. Learning can take place in a few ways. Through research or television series someone can learn from something. Learning doesn't always take place from reading. People can also learn from each other through lived experiences. There are different ways to gain knowledge in this world nowadays. Everyone also learns things differently through visual and auditory learning.

How Do You Understand Communication?

I understand that communication is a way of speaking between oneself or between two or more people. Communication does not have to be done with spoken word it can also be done through text or visuals. Every piece of communication is done and seen differently. Not everyone perceives pieces of communication the same way. Overall, communication is very versatile.

How Do You Understand Creativity?

I understand creativity as a way to express yourself and your interests through various forms of creation. I see creativity through drawing/painting, music, dance, television, and other entertainment and visuals. Creativity is also a part of everyone once they find something that sparks their creativity and imagination. Once that happens a person's creativity tends to soar when they have found their footing and passion for being creative.

Feedback - Video Titles

One area that I want some feedback on is the video titles I created. For this How to Write Guide, I created three different video titles. Some of the tips and tricks I mentioned for creating titles are to be straight to the point, play with capitalization, add in special characters, say what video game you are playing, and use strong words or superlatives to gain attention. Do you think these video titles used some of these tips and tricks? Also, do you think there is a good enough selection for my creators to look at or should I create some video titles with different elements?

Hi! I think your titles are good and they do use the tips and tricks that you mentioned. I think maybe don't make all of your words capitalized. I think it might take away from the context or tone of what you are saying. If someone is just playing Warzone with friends I don't think the title should be in all caps. But it could work for another title. You probably add one or two more because these titles are vastly different. Other than that good job!

Hi! I think you could add a little bit more to your "TikTok Plans" section. It seems a bit repetitive. Other than that I think it's goof.

HTWG Revision 3

Here is the last portion of my How to Write Guide that I am looking for feedback on for my revision. In this section, I think there are some good useful tips in here but others are way too long or unnecessary. For instance, "Does Your Title Get Your Audience Want to Click On Your Video Immediately?' is more of just a question to get the reader's ideas flowing than a tip. I think I split the audience and thumbnail part in half so people aren't reading this one long 'tip'. So, my question is how can I make this less like a bulleted list and more like a visually appealing piece of information? What other kinds of information should I add that does not obviously state that it is based on content development. Thanks for your help!

HTWG Revision 2

This is another portion of my How to Write Guide. For this, I think I need to space the tips out more and number them. After looking at my fellow classmates' How to Write Guides I've noticed that the tips do not need to be in one section labeled as tips. It should be spaced out and more visually appealing. I also do not think that what I have above are tips. They are more like steps that you need to take in order to make a food video. So, my question is how can I redirect these 'steps' into tips? How can I gear them towards content development without mentioning the words 'content development'. Thanks for your help!

HTWG Revision 1

Here's a portion of my How to Write Guide. I need to revise my whole project digitally and information-wise. I made it on a Word document which does not have any design elements in it. The information that I have here isn't really a tip either. So, what I want to know is how could I change this? I think the content strategy part works but how can I turn it into a tip. I think it will be very beneficial to keep the content strategy part because the audience needs to know about formulating the content.

A Tip That is Useful To All Of Us

This is a portion of my How to Write Guide that could be helpful for everyone. It is basically a reminder that you don't steer away from your content strategy when creating content. When creating content it is very easy to do something that you intended to do. This will help the reader to look back at their work to see if it is correct and fitting for their audience.

Element of Content That I am the Most Proud of

This is the content that I am the most proud of in my How To Guide. I basically created an example of how a good thumbnail and video title should be on YouTube. I used Canva to create the thumbnail. So the guy in the thumbnail is from a stock photo from Canva. I used a fake YouTube video generator that I found on Google to create the YouTube-looking effects. So, this video is not real or uploaded to YouTube at all. I think it turned out great. I had a lot of fun creating it.
