Words cannot describe how cool this was
What are your top 3 favorite Double Dee moments and why?
I have soo many! It’s so hard to pick three… Here’s what I can think of off the top of my head:
1. X Marks The Ed
I don’t know why this one kinda stuck with me - Edd is no stranger to wanting to protect his friends, but it’s always just touches me to see it. for the most part he generally is pretty level headed, but the way he jumps in and defends Eddy and diffuses the situation when he notices hes in distress and escorts everyone out because he saw his friend was being ridiculed for something he couldn’t help touches my heart… he doesn’t want to see him suffer! (Well, unless he deserves it. He doesn’t in this case.)
2. Tinker Ed
Yeah, yeah I do understand Eddy was kind of doing it for his own gain, but there’s no denying that Edd’s reaction was definitely stroking his ego. Hell, he could have dropped the charade but he keeps it going for the sake of how doting Edd is being, (also maybe some is genuine? who knows….)
But enough EddEddy analysis… what I adore about this scene is Edd’s reaction to Eddy showing compassion for someone other than himself. He is touched by it and admittedly head over heels with this side of Eddy! I also think it can easily go hand-in-hand with some other events in BPS and the otherfamous Gay Moment. He totally cracked the code to Edd’s heart, now he just needs to be genuine about it… I know things didn’t quite go how Edd as hoping but just look at him he is so smitten…
3. Big Picture Show
I guess all my moments just… are a very emotional Edd. I suppose it’s easier to focus in on these because the cute little moments I love go on and on. But for my third what came to mind was this moment in the movie.
“Well, excuse my sincerity for thinking I had lost the only two people I have left in this world!”
There’s so much to pick apart here. Ed and Eddy are truly the only two people he has left. In addition to neglectful parents, the two of them have been the only ones to consitently be his friends. He put so much into his friendship with Ed and Eddy - that is evident throughout the whole series. He genuinely loves and cares for them. So this cruel joke of the two most important people to him in the world suddenly vanishing from his life really hits hard.
I can really emphasize with the pain and betrayal he is feeling in this scene. Even going back and re-watching the series I can see how often Eddy takes Edd for granted, or even distresses him by worrying about his and Ed’s safety. I think it’s really important having Edd finally speak up about it and for Eddy to hear it raw with no sugar to coat it. It’s a very powerful scene and defintiely one of my favorites with Dee. <3
In light of the Rolf meme, I think it is a good time to remind people that Paul Boyd, a director for Ed Edd & Eddy & animator of the opening sequence, had bipolar disorder & was killed by police. He was fatally shot while crawling on the ground.
He was shot 9 times, but the officer that killed him was able to argue “self-defense” bc Boyd had tried to attack officers with a bicycle chain. However, multiple witnesses have testified that by the time the fatal shots were fired, Boyd had already let go of the chain.
Inspired by a cover of Preacher.
WIP version of my submission for the EEnE fanzine! While it may have been unfortunately cancelled, it was a blast to have participated!
This crazy image was my submission for the zine. I probably got a bit carried away, but there it is.
Here was my entry for the zine~! This was pretty fun to do and I loved playing around with the colors. Fun fact, I actually forgot the lines on Ed’s coat when I submitted it! So I took the liberty to fix it up and add the lines.
Here’s my illustration I did for the zine. ❤️ I wanted to incorporate a friendship moment (of many) between Kevin and Eddy after BPS. One way Kevin would try to bond with Eddy is over music, so he’d bring his CD player and some tunes to show him… Oh, and a box of jawbreakers to share!
This was my submission for the EEnE Zine. I always loved the idea of my favorite boys fixing up that old van and going on a road trip together.
this was my submission for the eene zine! sadly the project was cancelled but i still had a lot of fun drawing this!
Ohhh yeah!!
Last one of the day.
