literally buck is just so lonely and so worried about well anything really but most often his place at the firehose and with all these competent firefighters. but any time he gets in his head here comes captain diaz hand on the shoulder/ back of the neck forcing eye contact to tell him that actually yes he does belong here if he doesnt believe himself believe when eddie says it because he's saying it right now and hes slowly coaxing buck into being the confident firefighter eddie knows he can be one poorly-timed, ill-advised boner at a time

#okay like idk what the configuration of this is but in my head eddie is only buck’s captain SOMETIMES!!!!#and i love the idea that bobby laughed and told eddie he might have his hands full this guy’s a real hothead he’s impulsive he doesn’t #listen worth a damn but he’s a good kid. lots of potential. just help him out eddie all right? and eddie served alongside guys like that so #he’s totally prepared to have to put in the work. plus bobby really cares about him and he’ll do it for bobby. but.#as it turns out. with eddie buck is… not exactly like that? he’s still impulsive and still a hothead but eddie was expecting him to be full #of bravado and instead - with him - buck’s wide eyed and he wears his desperation to be accepted on his sleeve. maybe not a good thing #because eddie thinks it’s because buck sees him as a peer more than an authority figure. but eddie finds he doesn’t mind. if that’s what it #takes to keep buck in line - because he does still need to be kept in like - so be it. he can be a friend. their whole thing is #2x01 ‘Me?🥹’ on repeat. and eddie sees buck and trusts his potential and lets him do all kinds of cool and awesome things and listens to all #his stupid ideas. as long as he’s a good boy. and it’s kind of refreshing. and then he goes back to bobby and is a nightmare freak who #craves attention and respect again. cause bobby’s his dad-dad. and eddie’s……… u know.#hashtag POWERIMBALANCE
