Lots of drama in our household
you’re phillip buckley. you and your wife are considering splitting up. you receive two emails over the course of some weeks. your son invites you to the funeral of the man who raised him in your stead. it’d be a four hour drive maybe. you choose not to go. you drink some wine. then your daughter sends you an email announcing the birth of her second child who is named after the same man that raised your son. the same dead man. you know that no child will ever be named after you. you know that it’s what you deserve.
you’re phillip buckley and you witness your son receive the greatest gift he could ever ask for (his captain believed in him a year ago) and there’s an expression on his face you’ve never seen. you once thought you knew what he looked like happy; bruised and rough around the edges with an ice cream cone in his hand. now you see that it was never joy, it was transaction. you’ll never see that face on him. you’ll never elicit that look after you’re gone.

buck shouldve woken up from his coma with bilingual aphasia speaking preuvian spanish
buck should have had to rely on eddie to interpret for him and eddie should have delivered buck’s messages with a very eddie slant to them, adding in his own two cents without clarifying that he’s altering buck’s message and frustrating the hell out of buck
bobby assigning buck a role at a scene and telling him to stay back until he’s signaled to, buck raging an argument at him in spanish with a college level thesis statement and 3 pieces of supporting evidence, eddie waits til he’s done and says “he said okay”
Hen and Karen in 5x15 "FOMO"
rain beloved!! i hope your exam went well!! im sure you killed it :D may i request #19 for Henren :3c - @lesbucks
hiiiiiii lauren <3 this isn't quite the exact prompt but i hope it's close enough to scratch that itch! 19) getting turned on by their partner’s new uniform for work and then roleplaying a bit
"Gimme a twirl."
Hen laughs at Karen's words as she does as she's told, arms spreading out as she spins in a slow circle at the foot of their bed. Karen takes in the neat fall of navy fabric against her shoulders, her stomach, her waist, the extra notch that she has to cinch in her belt, the slight bagginess around her hips.
It's not too bad, she knows. Not with Hen working so hard to keep down food and working through her physical therapy. After all that work, the uniform, now that she's back in it, fits her almost perfectly.
Karen leans back on her palms a little, letting the fission of familiar worry fold neatly into fourths at the back of her mind, tucked in a little index folder where she keeps thoughts of fires and ambulance lights and dark suits. This isn't the time for worrying. This is the time for ogling her gorgeous wife in her uniform.
Speaking of-- "Looking good, babe!" Karen wolf-whistles, giggling at the pleased smirk on Hen's face. Her wife likes to put up a humble front, but Karen totally has her number.
"You think?" Hen asks, sauntering forwards, blatantly fishing for compliments. Fortunately for her, Karen loves swimming in shallow waters.
I think a fandom becomes more interesting when people are allowed to explore uncomfortable ideas instead of pretending they don't exist
Runaways
“Buck,” Eddie turns his head. His eyes hurt, with the dryness of them, with the demand and resistance of tears behind them. Buck meets his gaze like it doesn’t hurt. Watches him like this, too, is an easy choice. “I have so much blood on my hands.” “Look at where we come from,” Buck doesn’t scoff, but it’s a near thing, “that doesn’t make you special.” Or: A spaceship, its crew, the Buckley family secret(s), and the father-son duo hitching a ride as far as they can get.

Introductory Personhood
"You're such a pretty little thing," the man murmurs as he tucks his face into Buck's neck for a nip and a kiss, both of which Buck allows for the moment, even as he lets his gaze drift up to the smoggy night sky. "You gonna give me what I want, baby?" Buck sighs, pushes him away slightly by the shoulder to give him a sympathetic smile. "Probably not." Buck & Maddie; 1.6k
Fever Break
"Maddie…" Eddie hesitates and shakes it off in a single inhale-exhale cycle. "Maddie comes from the same place as Buck." "Yeah," Chimney agrees with too much understanding. "It's this shadow of a thing," Eddie says. He can feel the looming presence of it just over his shoulder and he can feel the reach of it's tendrils down his throat whenever he tries to speak of it aloud, but he pushes through because, "I don't know how to… get it out of my house, man." Buddie; 4.4k

something like this .. .
Oliver recently with his ‘Cut Your Teeth’ cast mates.
the buzziest thing about buddie is how devoted they are to each other. buck wanted to live, but he wanted eddie to live more. eddie has shown repeatedly that he is kind to the people who hurt him, but he was ready to kill someone for buck. they were both ready to give up these big pieces of themselves just to make sure the other made it home.
get your hands (on me)
(buddie; 5.1k; eddie diaz wants his best friend to pick him up and maybe throw him around a little. he gets, perhaps, a little crazy about it.)
It starts, as so many things do, because Eddie is kind of hungry.
They just got off of a long call, the kind that leaves them soot-covered and sluggish, the kind that has the temerity to start right as they were about to sit down for dinner, meaning that Eddie knows that he's coming back to cold pasta. His turnouts are heavy, his boots (and socks) are soaked, and he's thinking about the aforementioned cold pasta, so Eddie would argue that he has every right to not be a ray of fucking sunshine in this moment.
Unlike, of course, his absolutely infuriating sunbeam of a best friend, who carried no less than five people out of smoldering cars and still somehow skips out of the engine like he just got back from rescuing a puppy. It pisses Eddie off, the same way that the smell of the engine and the dampness of his socks and the noise of the station and the world in general is pissing him off at the moment.
He grumbles as he sloughs into the showers, snaps at Ravi when he's a little too slow grabbing a towel, and stomps his way up the loft steps and onto the sofa. He can feel eyes on him, Hen and Chimney and Harry and Ravi all giving him a careful berth, and it pisses him off only slightly less than if they'd tried to strike up a conversation with him when he just wants to be left alone.
Which, of course, is why Buck walks out of the kitchen around that exact time, a bowl of steaming pasta in each hand.
He puts the plates on the dining table as he passes, grins at the others as they scramble for their seats, then catches Eddie's eye and raises an eyebrow. Eddie scowls.
"Eddie," he says.
"Buck."

Fuck It Friday
Hello! I know it's been a while since I shared anything. I took a bit of a writing break and then started poking away at a longer post-S9 fic in May. Thanks to all those who've included me in their WIP posts/games/tags. <3 I'll get you back soon!
~~~
“I get that it’s been—” Chimney checks his watch, “—a whole fourteen hours since we last saw each other, but I kinda thought when you moved to B-Shift, we’d all get to miss each other a little. You know… absence, hearts growing fonder, all that jazz.”
Buck sets the Pyrex dish on the counter and peels the foil back from one corner. “Har, har.”
“Not that I’m going to stop you from bringing dessert. Carlson’s baking leaves something to be desired.”
“Real nice, Cap,” Carlson calls from the couch.
“I’m just sayin’. Ooh, are those blondies?”
Shooing Chimney off with one hand, Buck pulls a knife from the block with the other and starts cutting the cake into neat squares. “Where’s Eddie?”
“Oh, I get it. You’re just here to see the hubs.”
“Please don’t call him that.”
“Diaz!” Chimney hollers. He’s wearing one of those shit-eating grins that means the teasing is only getting started. “Your man’s here for you and he brought baked goods.”
Buck pointedly refuses to look up as he finishes portioning out the blondies. He hears Eddie coming anyway—which, is it weird that he knows the sound of his walk? The specific rhythm of it, the way his left foot scuffs the ground just before he picks it up again? Buck knows a lot of things about Eddie—
“Oh shit, blondies.” Eddie appears at his side.
—like his favorite treats, for one.
“Ralphs had a sale on Ghirardelli chocolate this morning,” Buck says, a bit lamely.
“Aww, that’s sweet.” Hen weasels around Eddie to get a look at the tray. Buck’s glad—for real now that he’s gotten over his jealousy—that the two of them fit so well as partners. Even if part of him desperately misses A-Shift and envies how easy they have it, working together as a tight-knit unit. A family.
“How was daycare drop-off this morning?” Eddie asks through a mouthful of blondie. He tongues at a crumb on his upper lip—Eddie has eating habits that would be gross on literally anyone else, but somehow he makes them work.
Buck looks away. “Better than yesterday.”
That isn’t setting the bar very high, given that Theo had latched onto his leg like a koala the day before, and it had taken three daycare workers to pry him off. Buck had felt like an abhorrent monster crossing the parking lot back to his truck, the sound of Theo’s wailing haunting him right up until three o’clock, when he’d gone back for pickup and found the kid completely engrossed in burying his classmate’s feet under a mountain of sand in the sandbox.
“It’ll get easier.” Hen pats at his arm. “Transitions are always hard on them. Harder on the parents, usually.”
The word “parent” makes Buck squirm. “Yeah.”
He can feel Eddie’s gaze on him, but he chooses to ignore it, fiddling with the tinfoil instead and trying to bury the uneasy feeling in his chest. It’s not like he’s never come to the station during A-Shift while off the roster: the summer after the truck bombing, pins still fresh in his leg. Random Kelly days he should’ve spent at home but somehow always found a reason to end up here. The leave of absence he just took.
He’s not sure why, this time, he feels like an interloper.
my hiatus fic in which buddie cross the lines of friendship and eddie figures out a few things. a lot of things.
Excerpt:
Buck kissed him. It didn’t feel like a declaration the way kisses usually do. It didn’t feel stifling. It felt like a plea. It felt like exactly what he said, like don’t go. Buck is still getting over Tommy, and Eddie is straight, and the two of them—it’s easy between the two of them.
The engine roars and Buck turns to look at him, eyebrows raised as if asking if he’s ready. Eddie nods, swallows, and puts his head back. Buck kissed him, and they won’t talk about it, and Eddie’s fine with that because really, Buck’s the only thing that’s ever been easy for Eddie.
