Took a weaving class over the weekend and finally finished the project! The class was over summer and winter weaving structure, so when you turn the fabric over the colors are reversed. This pattern is 160 years old. I love the colors I chose for this project!

This yarn was spun on my newest wheel. Medusa is on that wheel amd can be removed for maintenance. The first skein from this wheel is very on brand for medusa.

I acquired this wheel recently, and the outward facing side has these bolt anchors that are not esthetically pleasing to me. So I ordered a gorgonaeon and some very strong magnets and VOILA! Now I can spin 🧶 under the protection of the gorgon Medusa! Protector of women, children, and in the modern day, survivors of SA.

Every time I start a new spin project I save a pinch of floof from that project and put it in a container. On January 7th (Distaff Day) I card up all the fibers into a batt and spin up a yarn that is representative of all the spins in the last year. This is my yarn for the year 2024.

Since I'm not spinning any yarn while my tattoo heals, I figured now is a good time to do some cleaning amd upkeep of my spinning wheels. I have 3 spinning wheels that need to have their wood conditioned at least annually.

Final set up for my spinning room. The cabinet is actually a murphy bed. I feel it ties up the space well. All that's left is wall art, which will happen over time, either by me or other local artists.

Had this tattoo planned for a while and finally got it yesterday! The Spider is a golden silk orb weaver, and she is spinning her silk with a drop spindle.

Handspinning is very calming to me. Keeping steady time with the treadles and drafting fiber between my fingers makes the world fall away, and like the song says, I drift away.🧶
