You seem to appreciate a bit of angst and a theory or two...Well, what if ED actually do send Aaron down for beating up Kasim and ED use it as a storyline to shed light on the prison service? I cannot imagine that visiting is easy for those in same-sex relationships. I imagine it is still a very narrow-minded place. I am also sure that there was a report last year where self-harming was rife in prison... Aaron's already vulnerable. It would be issues not really touched on before by ED.
Seriously this ask has been bouncing round my head for an hour and it has soo much potential⊠(brace yourself - I shall try to keep this ramble in check but no promises)

Yes! The prison service and itâs troubles are really topical at the minute with high rates of violence, drugs, self harm and in some instances rioting.
For non UK people: when the UK hit austerity there were big cuts to the prison service and in the last couple of months more and more has been coming out about the problems this is causing, a few articles here: metro, bbc, telegraph (videos are informative on this one).
The results could be really good, ED is ace at the heavy stuff (even though they are pre watershed) and Aaron (unfortunately/fortunately) is the best character for it.
They would have to show proper scenes inside rather than heartbreaking flashes of Aaron in tears on a prison bed (like when he was inside for Robert). A bit of a comparison of what prison was like for Lawrence in the 50âČs (?) vs. what it is like for a gay man today maybe. Plus the mental health crisis and general conditions.
Ok now the awkward and unpopular part, it would mean Aaron going away for a bit (1, 2, 3 months?) and ofc not in a good place - but it could be a really meaty SL with big pay offs and we will be âthrow all the awards at DMâ at the end of it.(but also give Aaron a break for goodness sake!), I wouldnât like to see him to close to the edge as itâs a difficult watch - itâs easy to have too much of a good thing when it comes to Angst. And selfishly would like to still see Robron scenes through it :o)
If they really wanted to soap it up *sigh*
Aaron could end up with someone who knew G*rdon inside and could learn if he really was repentant etc⊠(from the funeral)
(really off the wall) because of something very soapy (full youth offenders or something) Lachlan ends up in the same prison and Aaron ends up protecting him (in exchange for half of HF lol, ok ok too soapy)
But tbh I donât think they would need to soap it up - the prison SL can stand alone.
