this isn’t what i usually post, but i wanted to ask if anyone had any book recommendations or author recommendations for fans of virginia woolf?
i particularly like ‘the years’, ‘the waves’, and ‘between the acts’ :))
thank you in advance 🫶🏻
i have an english literature exam today & we study romeo and juliet, so im doing this for me, sullivan, Mrs devine and father brown
shakespeare’s influence on father brown:
we get the christmas panto audition from father brown : “it is DEAD midnight”
we get the sullivine first kiss
goodfellow practicing lines in the station
“its what makes me such a good police officer”
sullivan basically uses much ado about nothing to set him and mrs devine up
sullivans smile when mrs devine walks in for the spontaneous audition
father brown as the friar
THE CAST IN SHAKESPEARIAN COSTUME
brenda being best friends with the prop girl :))
sullivan casually heading off to solve crime in costume before realising
john burtons twitter post for the ep
reposting this today as it’s my final mock before the real exam for english literature- thank you to shakespeare for your influence
it’s the real exam today; i’m still thankful to shakespeare for his influence. also, father brown a hundred percent would have read george orwell (even if he did massively criticise chesterton)
i’m hoping anyone else who is doing the english literature paper does well today, and that all of your exams go amazingly 🫶🏻

if anyone has watched father brown series eleven, episode five, feel free to message me because i need to discuss this episode with someone- it was just so beautifully written
i am so so happy with this reference, mrs devine would one hundred percent as a kembleford player be a wilde fan, and it contents my literature lover and student heart
🫶🏻 i love all the behind the scenes photos
Father Brown (S10): But why on Earth would anyone want to leave Kembleford?
Well, maybe because it's a small town where everyone solves their problems with murder?
Because you and your friends were many times attacked, kidnapped, threatened, falsely accused, blackmailed or almost killed as well?
Because this is a 10 series long TV show with at least one murder per episode? Which means more than a hundred people were murdered?
Because the police almost always arrest the wrong person who isn't the murderer?
Like... How do they not have trauma after everything they've been through? Or any signs of trauma? (And no, I don't count lady Felicia's screaming, we all know she screams because she enjoys it)
I like the vibe of the peaceful and innocent looking English village in the countryside, but... I think I'm good.
it is my header quote because you know i would do anything to be able to go to saint mary’s and hear father brown speak, or have tea with mrs m at the presbytery, or attend a soirée at montague manor, and i’m sure most of the father brown fandom would too- but the murder rate in the village is somewhat intimidating. you’ve got to give praise to father brown, sullivan and goodfellow for their efficiency in solving crimes. especially when there’s an infamous avant garde art thief just roaming around kembleford too 😭
celebrating 1989 (taylor’s version)’s announcement with another father brown characters x taylor swift album covers edition :) enjoy!
i go on summer break tomorrow & i’m so ready to rewatch father brown, expect thoughts on episodes to proceed! going to go from s1 - 10 hopefully
Instagram post from nancy! i’d be interested to know peoples thoughts on the photos :)

hercules is underrated, in one series that car went through so much
- nearly killed father brown
- been hijacked by hercule flambeau
- saved father brown from death (range fr)
- been hijacked by an in disguise royal inspector?
- the iconic “your hercules?” line
- AND “i’ll send someone to retrieve it- him” HELLO IM SOBBING?? literally so sweet
we as a fandom need to talk about how iconic the ending of s10 e10 was like- the last five minutes or so was just packed with every single emotion possible. my mind was literally blown watching it for the first time
