   âI was looking more for the kind of story you can fall asleep too, but if you wanna tell me one thatâll keep me up, thatâs fine too.â  She seemed like she had good stories, better than Livâs own, anyway.Â
  ` i was kidding, liv . â she wasnât . but itâs late and SHE HOPES she could read a situation well enough this far in her life . ` HOW ABOUT----you tell me a story ? â until sleep appears; until exhaustion overwhelms perseverance .
      â â tell me a story.â
   ` -----THE KIND OF STORY that makes you want to stay up the rest of the night ? â the kind of story sheâs most familiar with unless time allowed for patience and consideration.
starter call!
He was caught mid-munching on one pizza slice, the fridge halfway open with the light illuminating his figure in the otherwise darkened kitchen. Really, he had no excuse other than that he was hungry and he remembered she had pizza via teleport belt. âDon't be mad, okay? See, I'm like--a special brand of diabetic. I can only eat specific degrees of melted cheese and pepperoni. So I came here. So that I wouldn't die. You prevented my death. You should feel happy.â
    she really should be feeling more surprised. mind sleep-fogged, adrenaline rushing through veins ( the act contrary but one she is familiar of ). THIS WHOLE THING starting with sergio pawing at her face as an attempt at warning, of something out of the ordinary; cautious steps soon following; heart feeling just about ready to leap from throat. WORST CASE SCENARIOS rearing their ugly habit to the front of thoughts.  SHE THINKS sheâd have been more annoyed if she werenât so sleep deprived, if she werenât making conscious effort to move time-wearied bones, if she werenât already aware of his brand of instantaneous.Â
    `âŠâŠ.what the hell. DO YOU KNOW what time it is? â ( -----do ignore the firearm set on the countertop . PRECAUTION long-since ingrained in her nature ).
@jenniferjareaufbi.
   ` I MEAN, HONESTLY. should i have pretended to be surprised? âÂ
@aestui.
     ` AVA, I SWEAR to god----it almost feels like youâre looking for trouble each time i see you. â ( there is more fondness than her exasperated words may indicate ).Â
@incredibleliar.
   ` HUH. THOUGHT for a second that wasnât gonna work out.â the kind of second where life flashes and regrets hurtle to the forefront. she pauses only to allow firing neurotransmitters to reconcile, for the ringing in her ears to fade, for the focus to momentarily shift from fight or flight, and heartbeats to match consciously calmed breaths. ` you doing okay ? âÂ
@memoricm.
   ` EVER GET THAT FEELING where you really need a vacation after this? because thatâs definitely me right now. â
I decided to leave him alone because when I am sad I want to be left alone. So I didnât say anything else.
Mark Haddon, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time (via theliteraryjournals)

âyeah, iâm good. iâm fine.â the bruising on her forehead, her neck and various sections of her torso scream otherwise. she hugs her knees instead of drinking the water in front of her. âwhatever they were⊠vampires they werenât.â
   FINE IS A double-edged sword, often consisting of: misguided self-assurance and lies ( sometimes, hurt on all sides . emily rather live without it ) . a soft look flickers across her features; the offered water is retracted and set a close enough distance to easily reach.Â
her initial perusal indicated superficial injuries, her secondary? there is perhaps a semblance of numbness running through the younger, of resignation. she finds herself crouching before situating herself beside. ` yeah? sorry. â i wasnât quick enough. ` did it surprise you? that they werenât vampires. â Â
go skydiving with me rowan :*
meet me in california or iâll meet you in texas, letâs goÂ
  long fingers tap on the table, he is thinking, wondering ; he is recalling the tales his father told him about the pocket-watch ( his father saw it in person. I was young then, Niklaus Nott would begin his story; it was the most enchanting artefact heâd ever seen and Theo remembered how his fatherâs eyes would glimmer, whenever heâd tell it as a bedtime story ; his fascination was contagious ). and now, heâd never thought heâd see it in personâŠ
  lips are pursed into a thin line, brows furrowed, he is not quite sure how to answer her query. his father told him specifically that thereâs only âpocket watchâ in existence ; that, to create a duplicate for it will be impossible, due to the intricacies of the runes embedded on it. but, Theo is unsureâŠfor anything about this artefact is almost a myth.    â my father said itâs impossible. â thoughts finally spoken out loud. â and I do remember that story â I reckon, itâs most likely stolen by someone. â and this seems to be a more plausible explanation to himâŠthe simplest one of them. â they didnât find the watch after all, when retrieving the bodies. â
    ` some of our sources have stated otherwise,â SOURCES WHO WERE specialists of another kind . not as traditional and with an emphasis placed on the why rather than the how . ` -----how the wizard made it with the intention of it disappearing after the bloodline ends. doors closed . lines severed. nothing more .âÂ
( and thatâs just the goddamn thing about MAGIC and CURSES and LONG-HELD GRUDGES: how they worked well together and acted as a constant nuisance for everyone but the genius mad creator ). her scoff is hidden behind a huffed sigh because----if that was an act of second guessing and guilt? then, damn. way to meet extremes, buddy .Â
   ` letâs keep it simple. â a perhaps shared smile slips onto her lips since----THERE IS NO WAY any of this could be considered simple. ` is there anything you know that i wouldnât?âÂ
shout out to @edgetipped / @aerbound / @chosemore for being one of my best friends on this blue hell. sheâs an incredible writer and i am so #blessed to know her. honestly, she is so sweet and funny and Hella Cool. if you arenât following rowan you def should.

   â wait, â delicate brows furrowed, perplexed at the otherâs question. what did she mean by that â she hasnât seen anyone being suspicious as of late. what murder is this person talking about? and whilst her current occupation entails danger, they are often caused by natural occurrences, such as curses backfiring, mishandling of cursed wands, etcâŠbut no actual murder.    â what do you mean, heâs dead? â
   confusion and concern and explanation . common enough factors coalescing into one situation. she has long-since become accustomed to the equation; variations hardly throwing her off at this point. her back remains straight, poise seemingly relaxed regardless of the topic at hand. her voice is a practiced softness sheâs learned helps since her introductory years: ` it happened three nights ago. can you tell me more about him, ms. chang?â
