hey!! uh!! if anyone here still uses those "amab transmasc / afab transfem" flags i made a while ago, could you please stop using them? i was super misinformed and uninformed when i made those flags & terms and i no longer want them being used by anybody.
looking back at it now, it honestly just looks like i was trying to include cis people in the trans community, which was not the case. it was intended for those who consider themselves "cusper", except i didn't know there was a proper term for it, so i just made those terms and flags without looking deeper, and i sincerely regret it.
an actual transmasc friend of mine told me that i could consider myself transmasc since nonbinary falls under the trans umbrella and i present masculinely, and i just didn't really question it for some reason. i thought transmasc just meant "trans umbrella and masculine" and that transfem meant "trans umbrella and feminine", so i thought i would make that a kinda label for those who were like me at the time.
however, i no longer agree with that mindset/belief at all, as it looked like i was trying to give completely cis people a way to call themselves trans, if that makes sense. while that's not what i was going for, that's definitely what it seemed like. and because of that, i do not want to be associated with these misinformed labels or their flags anymore, so please stop using them. thank you in advance.
i apologize for spreading the misinformation that afabs can be transfem & amabs can be transmasc. while it is true that nonbinary etc identities are under the trans umbrella, the specific identities i coined go against the definition of transfem/transmasc. transfem means an amab person transitioning to become feminine, and transmasc means an afab person transitioning to become masculine. that's always what it meant and that's always what it will mean. which means that, for example, i - an amab enby who presents masculinely - should not be calling myself transmasculine. and an afab enby who presents femininely should not call themselves transfeminine. the trans- means transitioning into, not just trans umbrella.
i sincerely apologize for spreading misinfo and seemingly allowing cis people to call themselves trans.
if anyone reading this still uses those labels & flags, please stop using them. delete your reblog, remove it from your pronouns page, take it off of your carrd, whatever. let the labels fade out of existence. that is what i want. please respect my wishes.
