Hi.

Everything about this blog is tentative, including the name. I’m figuring out exactly what I want to do with it.

I wanted a dedicated space for gender discussion, including vents. I will try to trigger warn stuff, but if I forget to sorry. I want to be able to talk more broadly and deeply about neurogender and xenogender identities. As well as other more “niche” stuff.

I’m neurogender and transxenic, among other things. Maybe someday I’ll put my entire label collection here, but I’m not the most comfortable person with that.

I don’t really think DNIs are meaningful in the sense that they do more than moral posturing about your own beliefs. By which I don’t think they actually are an effective deterrent if someone who goes against them wants to interact. But if I don’t like your beliefs, you will be blocked. I’ll fill in what I block later.

I have a very hard time actually adding any more specific terms under the caedogender/traumagender umbrellas to the document I keep all my xenogenders and neurogenders in. Like, I have to remain super generic. There’s a bunch of terms I love and admire from afar. Because they name a specific experience.

I think it’s my denial and imposter syndrome. Regarding… well… a lot of things. Some of which I’ve talked about and some I haven’t. I keep physical evidence of one of my experiences in the pocket of one of my bags because otherwise I default to assuming it didn’t really happen that way. I’m wrong. Somehow. “This is exclusive to [x]” feels like it excludes me. Somehow. Even when I’m holding the literal proof it doesn’t in my hands.

I vastly prefer terms based around dark tropes in fiction. I collect a good many of those. They’re not exclusively for anyone. They can be used if it’s not actually how it happened. They’re literally about fiction. They’re about how it works in the story. That specific experience as a trope and nothing more.

I realize this probably isn’t the healthiest way to think about things but whatever.

I wish that “practical presentations” or “low-effort presentations” weren’t essentially synonymous with “masculine presentations”. And that it was easier for me to move outside of that box even with my autism.

Like, I will never wear makeup. Most likely never wear makeup. Because I have sensory issues. Because I don’t like the feeling of applying things to my skin. I can barely stand to do things like putting on lotion in the winter so my skin doesn’t completely dry out. I don’t want to put more things on my skin.

Same with my hair. I think I like it cut as short as it is. I don’t know. I can barely picture myself with longer hair. But it’s not cut short because I want to project masculinity. It’s cut really short because I sometimes have executive functioning issues and can’t take care of it super well. Short hair doesn’t tangle much and it’s better and easier when I don’t brush it all the time.

I could keep going because there’s more. But those two things alone (along with having a facial structure society generally associates as “male”) mean that people will usually read me as a guy. Which, I know that I don’t really have any other options besides being read as male or female. We don’t live in the kind of society where anyone’s first thought when looking at me will be a gender-neutral pronoun. But… I don’t know.

I used to call myself a masculine or even hypermasculine enby. But no. I’m just an autistic one. Which means any attempt at a more feminine presentation has to be done within the bounds of how my sensory issues and executive functioning issues affect how I can dress. I like jewelry because it’s shiny and it’s something to stim with that’s easily at hand. But that alone isn’t seen as enough by most of society.

I know clothes should just be clothes and I wish that was the world we lived in. I know presenting more masculine or feminine doesn’t change my gender.

But I don’t like thinking about myself as being a masculine presenting enby. I’m an autistic presenting one.

I need to officially stop doomscrolling blatant transphobia during all of my free time.

It turns out being told that you’re not actually what you think you are and you’re just dissociating from your actual reality as someone who already actively dissociates a lot can actually trigger that dissociation.

Luckily I’m no longer feeling actively spaced out. And I got myself out of it in order to start making dinner.

I can’t fix myself. I can’t change myself. And I definitely can’t do it by making myself read stuff I hate. I can’t fix myself that way.

Why do I want to? I like this. I like being nonbinary. I think. I don’t know. I don’t know. I’m stuck.

Question: because I know that you archive a lot of the referential language stuff and I can’t find this.

Do you know the boy/girl/enby and man/woman/enban equivalents with neurogender? I know xenogender is xip and xenan but neurogenders aren’t quite the same thing despite being similar.

It would be nice to have a shorthand for “neurogender kid” or “neurogender adult”.

I could have sworn we'd seen ones before but I haven't been able to find them at all

If its okay to submit a small vent:

I feel a little frustrated that the pronouns website I use has autigender as an option, but no other neurogenders. I had to manually put in schizogender. I get that they can’t put in every option of course. Like, I know that would take a lot of time. It’s just a minor irritation.

Of course you can submit one! (I mostly use this blog for discussing my own life as a neurogender person but asks are welcome and I really like hearing from fellow neurogender individuals. I wouldn’t have an asks button if I didn’t enjoy asks)

Yeah, I feel like this is a side effect of people thinking that “neurodivergent” = “autistic and sometimes ADHD”. And excluding everyone else.

Like, there’s more to it! More of us! I’m autistic, yeah, but that’s not the only thing that makes me ND and people who aren’t autistic can be ND too. And then there’s also more neurogenders than just autigender.
