Lennox giggled and scrunched up her nose, her cheeks starting to hurt from smiling so much. She sat there for another moment, letting the space get quiet and just on the border of turning awkward before she spoke up. “As much as I hate to just pop in and dash, I’ve gotta steal my girlfriend away for the rest of the day.” She spoke to the girls sitting across from them. “I’m really sorry, baby girl, but Mrs. Johnson needs our help today and not Sunday like I thought.” She explained, facing Edie as she brushed strands of hair behind the girl’s ear. The brunette hoped the girl would go along with it so they could both get out of this situation and go get ice cream. She could tell Edie was bored, so she didn’t see why this wasn’t the perfect out. 

edie smiles at lennox’s giggle. they’d over done this act now. she smiles over at the two girls and they smile back at her. a silence came over the table. edie awkwardly takes a sip of the bottle of water she’d bought earlier. then lennox piped up once more, “uh --- it’s fine i don’t think we we’re doing anything after this where we guys?” she asks her friends and they both shake their heads. “oh she does?  well those boxes won’t move by themselves” edie says to lennox she then lets out a little awkward chuckle, “shall we go then?”
