KCET 2026 Round 1 Result: Only 976 Engineering Seats Vacant
The Karnataka Examinations Authority has announced the final KCET 2026 Round 1 seat allotment result for professional undergraduate courses.
Of the 1,41,872 seats available across the included programmes, 1,22,512 have been allotted. Candidates receiving seats must select the appropriate counselling choice, pay the required fee and report to their allotted institution by July 24, 2026.
Students should check their allotment details carefully and complete every required step within the deadline.
Only 976 Engineering Seats Remain Vacant
Engineering courses recorded a strong response during the first round. Of the 91,724 available engineering seats, 90,748 have been allotted.
This leaves only 976 engineering seats vacant after Round 1. In other words, nearly 99% of the available engineering seats included in the allotment have been filled.
The remaining vacancies may be included in the next counselling round after withdrawals, upgrades and other seat changes are considered.
All Veterinary Science Seats Filled
All 361 seats available in the Veterinary Science programme have been allotted in the first round.
The complete filling of veterinary seats reflects the strong demand for the programme. Candidates allotted veterinary seats must follow the relevant choice-selection and admission schedule.
Medical Allotment to Follow NEET Result
Seat allocation for medical, dental, AYUSH and certain related programmes will be conducted separately after the NEET result and the required admission information become available.
Medical aspirants should carefully consider their existing allotment before choosing an option. They should also monitor official announcements regarding NEET-based counselling and seat allocation.
Course-Wise Choice-Entry Schedule
KEA has announced different choice-selection dates for the included courses:
Engineering: July 16, 2026
Agricultural Science and Veterinary Science: July 17, 2026
Yoga and Naturopathy, BPT, BPO and Allied Health Sciences: July 18, 2026
B.Sc. Nursing: July 19, 2026
Candidates should check the exact opening and closing time shown on the official counselling portal.
Four Choices Available to Candidates
Every allotted candidate will be provided with four options. Students should understand the effect of each option before submitting their selection.
Choice 1: Accept the Allotted Seat
Candidates selecting Choice 1 agree to accept the seat allotted in the first round.
They must:
Pay the applicable admission fee
Download the admission confirmation letter
Report to the allotted college
Complete the admission process
Such candidates will generally not be considered for an upgrade in the next round.
Choice 2: Keep the Seat and Seek an Upgrade
Choice 2 allows candidates to retain their current seat while participating in the next round for a better preference.
If a higher-preference seat is allotted later, the existing seat will be replaced according to the counselling rules. Candidates waiting for NEET-based allotments should read the conditions attached to this option carefully.
Choice 3: Reject the Seat and Continue
Candidates choosing this option reject their current allotment but remain eligible for the next counselling round.
Since the existing seat will not be retained, candidates should select this choice only after understanding the risk of not receiving another preferred allotment.
Choice 4: Exit Counselling
Choice 4 is for candidates who do not want the allotted seat and do not wish to participate in the following round.
KEA has provided flexibility for candidates to modify their selected option within the notified deadline. Even those who initially select Choice 4 may be able to change their decision and rejoin the process before the window closes.
