Ticker Tape Timer kit is designed for use to measure the speed of a moving cart, investigate the forces of friction in dynamics, or determine the rate of acceleration in a falling body at a vertical position. The Ticker Tape Timer Kit has the arm ( an electromagnet with spring loaded armature ) which vibrates regularly due to the changing current in the mains supply. It operate at frequency of 50 HZ ( 50 cycles/Sec ) and it makes dots on the paper tape at an interval of 0.02 sec above a support table of carbon disc when the arm vibrates. Here the time interval for 2 consecutive dots is equivalent to the time for 1 cycle. Successive dots are marked at the same interval of time.
This Ticker Tape Timer kit is fitted with a pair of 4 mm sockets at 19 mm spacing, colour coded red and black.

On the tripod is a prism table with a collimator fixed on it at the minimum deviation of the prism. The scale tube can be turned around a fixing screw and the telescope can be moved along the edge of the prism table. Both can be fixed with screws. The prism is mounted at the centre of the prism table by a clamp under a cover.

Spark Timer Kit is designed for use to measure the speed of a moving cart, investigate the forces of friction in dynamics, or determine the rate of acceleration in a falling body at a vertical position. The spark generator creates a series of sparks which burns tiny dots into the paper tape at a precise and same interval when the tape is pulled through the Spark Timer. The faster the tape is pulled through the timer, the larger the distance between the dots. This allows students to calculate the speed and acceleration of the object. The recording needle is immediately raised when the timer is turned off to allow easy insertion or removal of tape.
Spark Timer Kit, Three-stage frequency 0201110200B is equipped with 20Hz, 60Hz and 100Hz settings that provide clear print, even for a relatively slow-moving dynamic cart.
Spark timer kit comes with 120′ of recording paper tape, Pack of 10 carbon discs, a table clamp, and a 300g weight.
Note: Since this distance is usually very small; it is necessary to measure the distance moved in 10- tick interval and devide this by the time for covering the 10- tick interval.
Spark Timer Kit is designed for use with dynamics tracks to measure the speed, investigate the forces, or determine the rate of acceleration

Friction Apparatus is designed to investigate static friction, sliding friction and rolling friction.Students can investigate friction qualitatively and quantitatively with our Friction Apparatus.
Friction is defined as the force that resists relative motion between the surfaces in contact when they move past each other. Friction is caused due to irregularities on the two surfaces in contact. when one object moves over the other, these irregularities on the surface get entangled, giving rise to friction. The greater the roughness, the more irregularities and the more significant will be the friction.Friction is helpful in most cases. As a force, friction depends on two external factors. One, Friction is dependent on the smoothness or roughness of the two surfaces between in contact with each other. When the surface is smooth, the friction decreases. While the surface is rough, the friction increases. The other, friction depends on the force that is acting on these surfaces.Friction increases when the force is applied along with the irregularities. There are four types of friction: Static friction, Sliding friction, Rolling friction and Fluid friction. Static friction is the friction that acts between the surfaces when they are at rest with respect to each other. In contrast, sliding friction is the resistance created between any two objects when sliding against each other. Similarly, Rolling friction is the force which resists the motion of a ball or wheel. While, Fluid friction is the friction that exists between the layers of the fluid when they are moving relative to each other.

Two balls are released simultaneously to race a short incline from rest and have equal initial and final heights. The route is different: the one taking the high road track is simply a straight horizontal route; the one taking the low road track rolls down into a valley, follows a short straight horizontal stretch, and then back up again to the original height.

Free Fall Apparatus is designed for studying and measuring the acceleration of gravity.
Experiment procedure: A steel ball is suspended with an electromagnet. The ball is released by a switch on the digital timer (download)to allow the free fall motion. During its descent (or “free fall”), the only force acting on the ball is the force of gravity. The digital timer (download) displays the fall time to the first photogate and the time to pass through the gate after the experimental run. Acceleration of the free fall motion of the steel ball is captured by moveable photogates and recorded by the digital timer (download). Coin and Feather Apparatus Free Fall Tube is designed to demonstrate free fall in a vacuum. This experiment demonstrates the coin and the feather falling with the same acceleration and striking the tube’s bottom at the same time. It shows the fact that objects of different masses fall at the same rate in a vacuum. The Coin and Feather Apparatus Free Fall Tube consists of a 90cm long and 5.5 cm in diameter plastic tube that is capped on both ends with a rubber stopper, with one end having a 1/4 NPT ball valve(stopcock) fitting for air evacuation.
When the tube is inverted under normal atmospheric pressure, students will see that the coin falls at a faster rate than the feather because of air resistance. When air in the tube is pumped out via a vacuum pump to create a vacuum in the tube, and the tube is inverted, the coin and feather in the tube will fall at the same rate because there is nothing causing resistance anymore in the tube.
Very occasionally the feather sticks at one and and must be dislodged by shaking the apparatus. A small vacuum pump (0201020060) or Laboratory High Vacuum Pump (0201020590) is required.
