Maybe she was right. Edward enjoyed the effort of grand gestures but at the same time...it was those endless smaller memories that he looked back on so fondly. Simply seeing Eilonwy smile sometimes was more than enough to brighten his day. Something he was determined never to lose that appreciation of.

He had seen plenty of couples in town, listened to their experiences, and somehow none of them were exactly the same. It was different for everyone, but Edward took heart in knowing different or not love existed in a million ways.

"I believe so," he agreed, "it takes very little more to brighten mine than her smile." That, of course, was why he was determined to follow her anywhere, even Mona, even knowing how that decision changed his own life so drastically.

The warmth of that light reached him, magic, he realized, and brought another smile to his face as he glanced up. Magic always fascinated him, especially anymore as he was trying to figure out the workings of his own. "Oh, that is lovely," he noted, unable to help his curiosity.

Wasn’t this young man sweet! Pepa smiled brighter and the sunlight around the two of them brightened accordingly.

“Oh? Ah, I am a storm sorceress," she said, with a wink. She wiggled the fingers on her free hand. “But a special one! My mood affects the weather. So when you say something so lovely that makes my heart soar … well, there will be some sunlight even on the cloudiest and rainiest days."

Edward was very clearly impressed, even a bit enchanted by the idea of magic that was influenced by emotions. He knew Ian's did that, but his brother-in-law, so to speak, was also an elf and that made magic a bit different. Seeing something like that in a person who wasn't fae was quite fascinating.

Plus the woman was simply pleasant overall, he liked her immediately.

"What an incredible sort of power," Edward mused, curious but he didn't want to be rude about it. "I have found myself in the company of many types of Magicks, but certainly not those who control the weather." He didn't want to talk about only that, however.

"My name is Edward, it was quite unexpected but is very nice to meet you." He smiled brightly, then cast a glance skyward. "I do hope helping me is not keeping you from anywhere important? I can always wait the storm out indoors somewhere if so."

Edward did expect a giant to be rather large, by the very definition that would always be the case, but being that he had never met a giant in person before he still managed to underestimate the idea until it was quite literally standing before him with the ground shaking just slightly with each step.

He had to look upward to get a proper view of the stranger, towering in a way that should have been terrifying but Edward, be it from sheer curiosity or maybe he just lacked the proper amount of self preservation instinct, was honestly rather impressed.

The club was quite intimidating but he barely noticed it, he had been braced for something monstrous because that was what he had always been told giants were. But he didn't find the stranger monstrous at all. Tall, yes, but otherwise not too very unlike someone he might expect to see in passing any other day.

With the addition of a few extra feet of height of course.

It was rather intriguing actually, he wondered what it was to see the world from that vantage point, he also wondered what he look like himself being below the other man's line of sight.

He hadn't raised his sword, in fact he seemed to have forgotten entirely about the goal of removing the giant matter in favor of the conversation. Despite the fact the conversation was up to that point fairly one-sided.

"Oh, quite impressive," he admitted, finding himself a little short on words in light of the view. It was quite the impression, just perhaps not the one the other man was so keen on making. Edward stared, then realized how impolite that was and set to amend his mistake. "I am surprised, you see; I had quite a different impression of what I might find."

He was fascinated. Of course it was his obligation as Prince of the realm to remove any threat, but he had expected any threat to be more threatening and less intriguing; the giant was a rather handsome fellow, and Edward rarely failed to notice such things. Although in that case he supposed he really shouldn't have.

Ralph had expected to see the man's face fall, to watch all the color drain from his face, to hear a scream of terror if he was really ready to stroke his ego.

But none of that happened. In fact, the puny person only stared at him with some...emotion completely indiscernible to Ralph. It definitely wasn't any sort of fear, anger, or survival instinct--the three emotions he tended to see when he encountered humans. He had no idea what this was.

...And he didn't care! Clearly! Either this guy was going to get out or he was going to get smashed! His grip tightened and for a moment he almost lifted the club, but was instead completely thrown off by the other's words.

"Wh-- what??" He blustered, losing all the bravado and intimidation he had built up to get here. He nearly dropped the weapon he was holding, but instead doubled down in his grip, shaking his head fervently. His wild hair swung in every which direction. "What is that supposed to mean?"

"Oh, you see; it is quite a common assumption giants are terrible, frightening creatures," Edward explained, "ghastly, lumbering, fearsome...ah, I suppose you understand my meaning." He trailed off, realizing that really was quite a rude sort of thing to say, and he hadn't meant. It has simply come along in a jumble of words as he scrambled at them, rather clumsy in his efforts.

"What I mean to say is my expectations were more...monstrous and far less..." he wasn't sure how to put it exactly into words, and usually he was rather good at waxing poetic on most any subject!

"You have caught me rather off guard," Edward laughed softly, paying very little mind to that club and the obvious danger it presented.

It wasn't every day one came across someone so intense; infectious energy, wasn't it? Why was he hiding away in a cave? Oh...yes, the giant part. Well, easily fixed! What good was being the prince if he couldn't exercise that power at times?

"It is quite the shame you hide away in this cave; do people bother you if you leave? I can put a stop to such things, it hardly is fair." Edward pointed out, which was quite the offer to make when he actually didn't know the stranger whatsoever and was weighing this decision entirely on the fact that he couldn't stop staring at him.

Oh, but this was one of those stories Edward knew! Where some breathtaking soul stole the attention of someone at first sight! Wasn't that how it went? He could see the edges of the world in flowery, watercolor hues, hear the birds singing (at least in his own head), and that, obviously, was not to be ignored! Even if it was...uh...just a bit unconventional in that case.

"You will have to forgive me, my senses are a bit scattered," he added, as the stranger clearly did not understand his effect on people. Or. Maybe just Edward.

"Oh, this is lunch," Edward was careful to keep the bag tucked out of the way of the storm, "something to brighten my love's day, or at least I hope." He smiled; now that Eilonwy was well past the nausea and such that had lingered a few weeks after Primrose had been born she often asked for the sorts of things she'd had to avoid during the latter part of her pregnancy.

Case in point; the spicy noodles from the Lucky Cat.

"I thought I might surprise her," Edward explained, practically beaming as he talked about her, "she is so awfully busy looking after our daughter while I am away at work she certainly deserves a surprise."

She had help at times when he couldn't be there, of course, but that didn't negate the fact that Edward still took whatever opportunity he could to do little things to remind her that he was always thinking about her when they weren't together.

“Oh! That is so lovely of you,” Pepa gushed. “My husband does the same for me — even on days when he is so much busier. I try to return the favor when I can, of course. I think that is the secret to keeping love alive, no? Remembering the little things, taking any chance you can to brighten the other person’s day.”

As she spoke, a golden glow of sunlight washed over the two of them, almost piercing through the rain. It did not stop the rain, though, but it was enough to brighten up the gloomy sky.

Edward rarely paid attention to the weather, in part because Edward rarely paid attention to most things. But the sky was up there doing what it did and he didn't really have to pay much attention to it, it didn't require his focus, but sometimes that wasn't really the best way to go about things.

Sometimes he ended up drenched.

Mind you, he didn't worry about that either. But he did mind the bag in his hand suffering the same fate because he had only just come from The Lucky Cat and had been on his way to the Lightfoot house and the thought of the lunch he'd picked up for Eilonwy getting soaked was simply abysmal.

He was quite glad for that invitation.

"Thank you," he offered immediately, alongside a smile, as he held the bag closer so as not to crowd the kind stranger. "I certainly was not expecting to run into the weather turning today," he laughed, it was usually better to keep a sense of humor about those sorts of things instead of letting it actually bother him. The bag was safe and dry and really that was all that mattered.

“Oh! Quick come here!”

The rain had come suddenly, interrupting an otherwise idyllic sunny day. But luckily, Pepa was always prepared with an umbrella on hand. She ushered towards the other unfortunate person caught in the park at this time to come beneath the umbrella.

“Looks like we’re here together for a bit!”

Iris hummed, sitting back in the air with their hand on their chin. "Both, huh?" they murmured, a bright light in their eyes.

Clarion watched them with an amused smile. "Iris, dear, are you-"

"Shush," Iris dismissed with a wave, not caring that they had just shushed the Queen. Clarion swallowed a laugh, glancing at Edward and rolling her eyes dramatically.

After a moment of contemplation, Iris took off, flying around the tree with a rush of wind that blew past Clarion and Edward. She wrapped a protective hand around his bouquet as Iris spun around the tree. Soon, the colors of the trees were changing, the bottom starting a bright, cornflower blue before fading into a light lavender then finally a dusty pink. Iris flew higher and higher, changing the colors before hovering above the gradient tree, arms out-stretched.

"How's this?" they asked with a wide grin.
