a dribble - our suite in d minor

so i wrote this some time ago, as an introduction to a series i´ve been writing on just for fun. enjoy!

He was always pulsating in one way or another, Elijah. Rhythm had always been a big part of his life. He had, for example, a continuously beating heart in his chest that was somewhat faithful to a steady pattern of rhythm. He had lungs which steadily inflated and deflated. He woke every morning, fell asleep every night, continuously. But besides those ´trivial-to-life´ matters, rhythm had a more emotional bond with him. Since he was able to talk, he had created rhythms of his own by hitting things. Whether it was bowls or edges of tables, little Elijah understood pulse better than anyone. It was no surprise to anyone that he later would end up playing the drums. It was something just as trivial as breathing for him. Ironically enough, those emotional bonds were not as trivial as they felt. For "A heart without rhythm" could have multiple meanings, he would later find out.
