I’ve been following you on tictok for a few years now. Right now im in film school. What advice would you give to someone just starting in the industry?

This is UK-based, so I'm sorry if you're not. I am specifically a writer-performer so my knowledge of other elements is a little sketchy.

Be as kind and pleasant as possible. I have gotten jobs and opportunities because people either remembered or were told I was easy to work with.

Your first film is going to be bad. That's just how it works. I personally worked under the idea that it was best to make it silly so I didn't feel pressured to make it good. (i.e. why I started on TikTok)

Your schoolmates aren't your rivals, they're your friends and future colleagues. Treat them as such.

Get as many strings to your bow as possible. I don't mean just film-adjacent things. Learn excel spreadsheets, get first aid training, learn how to make paper airplanes. You'd be surprised what weird skills come in handy and you're probably not going to be making films full-time for a while.

Be as kind and pleasant as possible. Worth repeating. This doesn't mean feel obliged to do whatever people ask of you. You are allowed to say no.

Don't work for free. Not unless its a small project with people you absolutely trust with the concept of putting into film festivals or something.

The National Youth Film Academy is probably not worth it unless you're in London. I am close friends with one person from it and that's been amazing - other than that, probably not worth the money.

Your health is more important than any film. Please do not be one of the crew who die in car accidents from exhaustion, please.

If you come across a director called Charles Solly of Sollywood Productions, please think twice. He was a creep to me starting out and others, I can't say with any certainty what he's like now, but from my experience not a great guy.

BE AS KIND AND PLEASANT AS POSSIBLE.

Struck with a sudden bolt of pike&grog best buddies emotional damage.

Like, This is pike, she's small but surprisingly heavy from all the armor and muscles. She rides around on his shoulders. Grog is strong enough to yeet her in full plate armor. And relishes in doing so. She might be the most powerful member of their party. She's his best friend. She's really good at using her words. She always takes the time to understand Grog even when he's bad with his words. She saved his life.

They fight together always. She loves his savagery and drive, she never asks him to fight less or be less. She also doesn't ever ask him to be stronger or meaner or to do anything he doesn't want to do. Pike is a good person. She doesn't question whether he is too. She loves him.

He's seen her punch men and monsters so hard they've died. Her hands are always so soft when she heals his wounds. She literally keeps him alive. He hardly even thinks about dying anymore. He feels invincible when she's behind him. He would die for her. He does kill for her. Regularly.

He doesn't have to be careful with her. He is anyways.

She's a holy woman. She speaks to gods and they listen. She can outwit evil and burn away sins. She's a war cleric, her magic belongs among the dead and dying. She can hold her liquor better than anyone twice her size. They're always getting drunk together. She can walk into most temples and make them listen to her. Most nights she's passed out drunk next to him.

She could spend her life reading books and wearing priest robes and doing whatever else the holy women do. Instead she stays with him. She fights and drinks and kills people. She saves people to. Puts blessings on the houses of the children they run into and heals the wounded until she goes pale and tired.

She can make kings listen when she speaks. She curses more than he does. He's seen men brought to their knees in front of her. She makes their friends laugh when they're sad. She could go anywhere, do anything. She doesn't want to be alone.

She might be part god or something. He isn't sure how all that works. Whether she's a goddess or not, it doesn't make a difference.

She's his bestbuddies
