I can understand and appreciate the aus where we’re a rich/upper-class of some kind and Hector takes the role of being a class “beneath us” but still yearns for us anyways. But imagine an au where it’s the other way around where Hector is the one who’s upper class, but still a recluse, and we’re some sort of humble worker or something. But like… he’s still so hopelessly in love with us.
Like okay just bear with me. Hector is from a wealthy family, the kind where Hector himself is wealthy just by existing. But he’s painfully shy and nervous with social interactions. So he mostly holes himself up in his room all day unless he absolutely needs to come out, and even then it’s like pulling teeth. He’s also not a big fan of suitors and bachelorettes because they all tend to be, well… let’s just say they clearly like his hypothetical money over him. And so Hector, although a huge romantic, can’t really let himself get out there since he doesn’t want to be seen as just dollar signs.
But then he meets you, let’s just say you’re a maid, and he just becomes absolutely taken by you. I can’t really decide if you already know who Hector is but don’t really care for status since it’s clear that Hector isn’t your typical rich asshole who pushes the staff around, so you actually talk to him.
But I also LOVE the idea that you’re new and when you two first meet you just think he’s a fellow worker of some kind. So you talk and crack jokes. No “Yes, sir. No, sir. Right away, sir” stuff that Hector doesn’t really like, and no clear indication that you’re trying to get something out of him. He’s equal to you and he just falls deeply in love with you. And I love this idea because its a nice reversal of the Cinderella-like thing that the other AUs do where instead of Hector masquerading as someone upperclass, he’s trying to blend in as being lower class so that you two can continue talking and bonding as he “works the tasks with you”.
It would also add some really great angst because Hector would always worry about his cover getting blown in a whole new way. Instead of you shunning him because he’s poor, he’s scared that if you find out who he really is you won’t love him anymore because you’ll think that he was just trying to play with your feelings and take advantage of you since that’s a very common thing with things like this. Maybe he also fears that if his family finds out that he’s with/fallen for a person of lower class they’ll fire you and accuse you of being a gold digger and trying to marry up the social ladder, and Hector doesn’t want that at all.
Bonus: I think that it would be hilarious that since Hector has lived his whole life in the lap of luxury and has people to take care of all of the chores around that house/estate/whatever, Hector has no clue what to do in order to blend in with all of the servants. Which could actually work well with his whole “silent observation” thing. He secretly watches the servants work so that he knows how to do things and mimic it so that he’s not dusting the carpet or whatever. But sometimes the rich boy slips out and he has to calculate what he has to do in his head without looking obviously clueless.

Anyways, I was imagining this as some sort of period piece. Any period idc go on ahead and pick one.
But I also love this idea that we help him instead of poke fun at him. Maybe at the very most we assume that maybe he used to have money but it dried up and he had to take on work. So we help him with things he’s confused on or doesn’t know what to do. I was also imagining a moment where we teach him how to do something correctly by guiding his hands too, and I was imagining poor Hector being so flustered by it and trying to keep his cool.
Also, imagine Hector makes references to things but he realizes that what he said would only come from a person who is upperclass and so he worries that he’s blown his own cover. Like he says something about caviar and it’s clear that he’s had it before, and he panics, but then we’re like “Oh my god, you sneak bites of their food in the kitchen too?” and laugh about it.
Hector literally can’t go a single night apart without getting super sad and pining for you. Like he is literally THE yearner. Like let’s just say that he has to go out of town for his mask business and you can’t come for some reason. You literally have to give him something to hold onto till he can come home.
And when he does come home he’s literally SO happy. And he tells you all about how he was restless and could hardly get any proper sleep with you lying next to him. And how everything he saw reminded him of you. And how he just wished he could kiss you again. He sounds like a soldier who’s come back from war but he was only gone for like… 24 hours.
But oh, those were the most miserable 24 hours or his life.
Hector actually needs glasses but they were another thing that he was insecure about so he doesn’t wear them. He can still see things for the most part, like you and where he is. But one day you catch him doing that “I-can’t-see” squint and ask about it.
He tells you the truth and explains why he doesn’t wear them, but does when you tell him that he’s fine and that you wont laugh. And then it turns out he somehow gets 100x cuter when he has his glasses on.
Random (realized/human) Hector x reader Headcanons just because
Remembers all of your orders from any and all food places and uses this information to always get you your order whenever he’s out and near the area. He knows your coffee/tea order from that one place you like, you know the one. And whenever he’s in the area, he gets it for you. Unprompted. He comes home with it in hand and is like “I figured you would like some. <3”
(If you carry a purse) he will always hold onto it for you while you’re in the bathroom or something like that. He adds in a joke about how he doesn’t think it matches his outfit
Speaking of outfits. I like to think that in the beginning, Hector sticks to casual gray and non loud colors and clothing but eventually as he gains more self confidence he starts to pick up on more accessories and colors that let him stand out in his own way. But if you have a specific style and color palette, it will also rub off on him and he’ll actually adopt some of the colors into his own clothes. With all the being said, he likes to try and match you in some way. Maybe not fully depending on your sense of fashion, but if he notices your outfit then he plans out his own to have an item that matches like a shirt, jacket, or something
Morning cuddles with Hector. Imagine. Nice and warm. Tightly wrapped in each other’s arms. Still half asleep but able to recognize that it’s all so nice.

OH ABSOLUTELY. He's maybe dreamed about your wedding--- oh, at least a dozen times. He's not sure how exactly he is going to propose. It wasn't anything special, just a small domestic moment together where he was overcome with how much he loved you and it just-- sort of came out. OH HE IS CONSUMED BY IT, and everyone knows. He mostly expresses his feelings in private to the pages of his diary-- or in his erotica. He also expresses it by staring, yearning and general pinning. Never by just telling you how he feels though-- god, could you IMAGINE??

He's very up front in the fact that you're together-- in fact he kinda won't shut up about it?? But he still has a hard time kissing you or even just holding your hand in public. to be honest. i think the obsessiveness is truly my favourite part about hector. AND the fact hes not off put by reciprocity. its comforting to feel less abnormal when someone shares that behaviour and thought process. i take such a delight knowing that my musings are as meaningful to him as his are to me. plus hes just incredibly bangable but thats not really my point here.

I don’t know. Maybe it’s one of those purity things where you two weren’t allowed to talk unsupervised without a chaperone or something but like somehow Hector was able to see you idk.
