Basically a tumblr dedicated to Violinist of Hameln (usually abbreviated as VoH) and it's sequel, Violinist of Hameln: Shchelkunchik. Basically an archived blog at this point as the mod is too busy to run the blog anymore. Feel free to submit anything VoH-related, though. There will be *spoilers* (especially in regard to Shchelkunchik posts). The only thing I can really suggest is to tumblr savior "spoilers." Sorry about that. Submit posts by typing "/submit" at the end of the blog URL. I'm not tumblr savvy enough to add a submit button, sorry.

Zoku Violinist of Hameln, Chapter 1

At long last, the first chapter of Zoku Violinist of Hameln is up! You can download it here. Because this series is published independently by Watanabe, he really doesn't have any limits to how long the chapters are... and he chose for them to be really long. This one is over 50 pages! So the releases for it will be likely slow. If anybody wants to help typeset or translate, that would help speed things along!

HEY EVERYBODY!

We really really need a Japanese to English translator on board for Zoku Violinist of Hameln! Things are progressing with it, but they would go so much faster (and likely be better) if we had somebody for this series in particular. No experience necessary, but it would be best if you had a fairly high knowledge of Japanese slang because VoH tends to swing heavy into humor that involves that kind of thing. DM or contact @arkhangelske .

So… I’m always coming back to the VoH fandom randomly, and especially because there’s a series that may or may not be ongoing (?) that nobody is scanlating… would anybody be interested in helping me scanlate it? Apparently it’s hard to get hold of the raws, but I’m willing to buy it/dismember it/scan it and can do the editing of chapters. Unfortunately my Japanese reading knowledge is both rusty and wasn’t that good when it wasn’t rusty T___T However digital translation and reference material is WAY better than it was in the late 90s/early 00s, so I could conceivably translate it myself (very slowly and with dodgy accuracy). If anybody is decent with reading Japanese and wants to help out with this, message me! OR if you know of a group that is scanlating it, point me in their direction!

Did you know any good Tumblr alternative just in case ? i don't think than this site like youtube will survive with that dumb flag policy. Anyway, did you know what have happen to the Schelkunchik scan team ? they didn't release new chapter recently. Even if you don't post that much now i wish you a best continuation. Bye! bye! 2/2

(I’ll only respond to this ask as this is the one that has questions in it)

There are some sites that people have moved onto recently, although I don’t know how good they are as tumblr alternatives. If you want something mostly like tumblr, I have heard about pillowfort.io but it’s currently in some kind of closed beta at the moment. I have also heard people recommend something called mastodon but I think it’s more like a series of chatrooms than the format we get here on tumblr.

These sites aren’t like tumblr at all, but a lot of people have already moved on to sites like Wordpress (for the pure blogging component of it), Twitter (to keep in contact with people); and Discord (for the chat/instant-messaging function). I’m sure there are a lot more sites that I’m missing, but these are the more prominent ones I have heard of.

I don’t know what happened to the Schelkunchik manga scanning team as I’m not involved with that, so I can’t say anything about it. (And I haven’t actually kept up with Schelkunchik in a long time due to other responsibilities.)

What's that Tumblr purge than you're talking about ? did Tumblr is doing bankrupt ?

Hi there!

In hindsight, I really should have been more specific in my previous post. (That was my fault.) Sorry about that. Kind of a tldr; post but the context is needed to understand what was going on–especially if you are new to tumblr.

The Background Story:

On December 3rd, tumblr put up a big notice at the top of the site, essentially saying that after December 17th, adult content (i.e. porn or nsfw stuff) would no longer be allowed on tumblr. In the days following this announcement, tumblr started rolling out their new filtering system, which was supposedly meant to flag posts that featured adult content. But people quickly found out that this filtering system was really really bad. It was (wrongly) flagging tons of images with seemingly no criteria. Nothing was safe, not even photos of mushrooms, illustrations of dinosaur skeletons, or pictures of Garfield. (Seriously, Garfield’s eyes apparently looked enough like boobs so they got marked with the “this post contains adult content” flag.) The filtering system was also targeting an awful lot of LGBTQ+ content, which is really… yikes.

Posts that were flagged would be removed from the site after the official adult content ban. If a blog was listed as an adult or primarily nsfw blog; there was also the potential that your blog could be completely wiped from existence (or so we thought at the time). Fearing that tumblr was just going to collapse in on itself on or after December 17th due to the sheer number of posts and users that were getting flagged; people dubbed the 17th as the Great Tumblr Purge.

Okay, now how the heck does that relate to my post:

Since I noticed that tumblr’s filtering system was mostly focused on photo/image posts, I was really worried that the entire VoH fanblog would just get deleted–as it’s mostly composed of image posts. The date is now past December 17th and the blog is thankfully still here, though I am sure that a couple posts have been lost due to being incorrectly flagged.

I will say now that I am never deleting this blog. It will stay as long as tumblr is still around. To answer your second question: Is tumblr going bankrupt? I honestly don’t know. But I wouldn’t be surprised if tumblr does eventually become obsolete within the next decade; as better tumblr-like sites pop up, and the tumblr staff continue to destroy this site and piss off their userbase.

So... yeah. The Great Tumblr Purge is definitely upon us. Unfortunately, I’ve not been active enough on this blog, nor do I have enough free time, to try moving everything on here to another platform. But I’m definitely going to go through today and try to save as much stuff as I can; and I suggest my followers do the same for anything you want to save.

The blog won’t be deleted. It’ll stay here for as long as tumblr allows it to after December 17th. With how awful tumblr’s flagging system is, I don’t have high hopes that this entire blog will come out unscathed.

Hi there! Sorry for the late reply; I was scheduled for a ton of workshifts in the past few days and wanted to wait until I had the time to properly answer your question.

As for Zoku… I don’t think anyone’s translated that one yet? From what I’ve heard, it’s apparently pretty hard to get ahold of scans of the series to begin with, as it looks to be a mostly online published manga that you need a Japanese account for?
