Brief OC Relationship Lore Overview™ because I need to develop things. Warning for very toxic and evil relationship:

At the time they meet (after Gloopty loses his soul and that whole shebang, approx. 2E 584,,) Farwyth is living on his own outside Seyda Neen for the convenience of acquiring goods from Hlaalu traders. Gloopty stumbles into him after helping Vivec. No divine powers will save the Gloop when Farwyth is like "Hey, I can tell there are multiple things very wrong with you and it fascinates me. The whole no soul thing sounds neat. Come to my house."

Gloopty is easily convinced (by gold and alcohol) to partake in Farwyth's experiment bullshittery. Farwyth learns that he fucking hates stupid people, especially after essentially invading Gloopty's mind. Farwyth already had an interest in mind magic and it pretty much solidifies after playing around in Gloopty's wonky head. Gloop is subjected to Many Horrors. Farwyth accidentally creates a semi-permanemt link between their minds. Also, they are infatuated with each other because neither has a healthy concept of love or relationships. A lot of accidents happen here.

At some point an experiment goes wrong and Gloopty's memories of Farwyth are completely wiped, the mind link broken, and his lucky ass runs away from this Stranger who freaks him out and never returns. Occasionally he receives mail from Some Guy Named Farwyth begging him to come back. He ignores it. Funny gut feeling says no way.

Farwyth blames Gloopty for his own mistake and holds a grudge. Brags about his "relationship with the Vestige" for hundreds of years to come. Gloopty remembers nothing but has a feeling of "something took place at some point with someone but the memories are gone, damn".
