Originally conceptualized as a visual novel game, Eggs Attorney is now an interactive, lightly animated web-comic that allows viewers to steer the story in certain directions! You can reply to each post with whatever you’d like the main character, Reiker Strait, to investigate, ask about, or object to, kind of like early Homestuck!
There's no penalty for being wrong - some things might be used for flavor or silly interactions - so feel free to say whatever you like! The ask box is also open for any questions to the devs or characters unrelated to the here and now of the current case!
We are currently on Case 2: 1080 Freestyle Turnabout!
i've mostly been talking in the discord but wanted to share this: been playing the new tomodachi life and these two got together
in previous games it was always the mother who held the baby when they showed it to you and in hindsight i think it's just a coin flip now but this was too funny to not make a doodle about
they named her ivy btw
i still need to tweak jetsam's makeup to look more like the other miis, i made him earlier on and haven't changed it yet
So. I want to try and make a more professional notice (at 4 am because thats the time normal people make sane posts-)
I cant continue forward with Eggs Attorney. The effort this project has taken has become unsustainable, and while i don't want to dismiss the fans of this project that have been ever-loyal, the fruits of my labor have not been... enough for how much its taken.
When i was at my breaking point two weeks ago it was because i truly felt like Eggs Attorney could have had all of the writing and dialogue and everything taken away and it would've gotten the same success. My family, my social circles, and really everyone who had long-term pull in my life besides cayde seemed to dismiss the story entirely. It wasnt until i had offered money for help writing from an acquaintance that they had even bothered to pick up the project and give it a read. And that shit truly killed me inside. And I really couldn't *ask* for help from any of you because that would be detracting from my audience, as well as ruining the fun for whoever accepted.
In my eyes, Eggs Attorney was a sunk cost fallacy. I had so many cool ideas that were all years away based on the pacing of our project. We couldn't find a way to increase the pace given cayde's schedule. And even if we could, it'd require me to be working basically two jobs at once, working the current case and the next case as well.
I am truly sorry i lead you all to believe i could complete something or make something enjoyable.
Yanshu: What about the bulletin board here? They have some stuff pinned up... Maybe it's important?
Reiker: I doubt they'd have anything suspicious up there... It just looks like your average notice board.
Reiker: ..."big fat meanie?*"
Yanshu: [Snrk]
Orbot: Oh, look - a signature from the defendant!
Orbot: ... The "N" is backwards.
Yanshu: I wonder if he did that on purpose...
Reiker: This document here looks like a racing schedule - "June 1st: Blizzard Valley, June 22nd: Chao Park, July 13th: Aqua Forest..."
Reiker: ... These are all past dates.
Yanshu: Looks like it's the entire summer schedule. We'd be over here, in September.
Reiker: Oh, yeah... Right here - "September 1st: Egg Expo, September 8th: E-Stadium..."
Reiker: ... I wouldn't call any of this relevant.
Yanshu: Yeah... Still, I wish I could have seen the Egg Expo in person. There were some impressive tech showcases, and a few of the doctor's older robot models were on display, too!
Reiker: Gah, we need to be quick about this! It's already... 11:10...?
Yanshu: I think that clock is broken, Rikey...
Reiker: I mean... I can tell.
Reiker: Little hard to without a second hand, though...
Orbot: Ah, investigating broken appliances... It's just like working with Cubot.
Reiker: ... Let's keep looking.
Yanshu: What are you looking for there, Mr. Strait?
Orbot: Stealing another gun, are we?
Reiker: No, but if we can figure out how it was stolen, we'll be one step closer to figuring out who killed her!
Yanshu: Hey, what's that on the bottom of the case? There's a little-...
Reiker: Hm?
Reiker: It looks like a container of some sort...
Reiker: "R-B?"
Yanshu: Like... Radika Bodacious?
Reiker: Maybe... I just wish the cabinet wasn't-
[Fwish]
Reiker: ...locked?
Orbot: It doesn't seem very locked to me.
Reiker: I know they're just blanks, but it's a gun cabinet. Why isn't it locked?
Orbot: Well, a key must've been used to-
Reiker: No, Orbot! A gun was just stolen from this cabinet - one possibly used to murder someone - and no one else is here besides us, an intrusive party.
Orbot: [Sigh] Let me see...
Orbot: ... There seems to be only regular wear inside the lock mechanism. Any surface-level scratches on the outside were likely from missed attempts at inserting the key. It should still be fully capable of being closed.
Yanshu: Hey, Rikey? This case... It's got a bunch of lock picks inside.
Tony: (...) Radika was askin' me about lock picks a while back, and I was just showin' her my skills. Locked it right back up after… It's like nothin' happened!
Reiker: Alcost talked about Radika like she was trustworthy and reliable. Just how does a conversation like that come up with a person like her?
Tony: She is! She She just… Forgets stuff. We started talkin' about it 'cuz Radika forgot her locker combo again. Lucky for her, I'm ready for anything!
Reiker: There's lockers at the training grounds? I don't think we saw those…
Tony: Oh, they're in Alcost's office. Can't get into them without his keys, so Radika forgets they're there half the time. Then she forgets the combination… Then I gotta break in for her.
Tony: I think it's fun, but she gets kinda embarrassed when she asks too much, so I got her a set for her birthday last month. Since then, it seems like it's been smooth sailin' for her!
Yanshu: The tools inside weren't in the right spots, either. It's almost like someone shook it around, and they all came loose, which is odd because...at least from what I know, Radika seemed like the type of person to keep her things pretty well-organized.
Reiker: It must've been thrown in last minute. I wonder who really left it here...
> Radika's Lock Picks have been added to the Court Record!
Reiker: (Well, it looks like that's everything in this room, but...if the gun case was left unlocked, maybe we should give the office a try?)
cayde again - as you may have noticed i just posted a bunch of stuff that's just collections of things from case 1 and what we've got of case 2. i also edited the pinned post. my goal here was to make archival things easier (not deleting old images to make way for new ones). It's a little less convenient not having the court record in the pinned post but i hope it isn't too much. it should be easier to go back through the old stuff and understand what's going on in-context, though!
edit: hello tumblr user @jellyloveru, you don't say much but i see you in our activity page liking all this technical stuff and whatever you missed and i love you <3
edit edit: added alt text to all the images i think!

Reiker Strait: Mobian palm cockatoo, 24 - Sunnyside’s latest public defense attorney, appointed by Eggman himself. Prides himself on professionalism and dedication to the truth, but often struggles under pressure and his own standards.
Ivo “Eggman” Robotnik: Human, 53 - ruler of the Eggman Empire, creator, mayor, and chief justice of Sunnyside. Seems to be busy most of the time; understandable, given his sheer number of titles.
Yanshu Dryll: Mobian mole, 20 - one of Dr. Eggman’s Robo-Techs and the creator of Flash Driver. Currently on sabbatical, acting as Reiker’s field assistant. Rather prone to anxiety, but remarkably knowledgeable about a wide variety of topics, particularly within more technical fields.
Flash Driver: Android Robo-rabbit, age N/A - Yanshu’s proudest achievement and excitable best friend. Currently filling in as Reiker and Yanshu’s office helper computer guy, primary informant, and head of communications! Surprisingly agile with extendable limbs, expressive eye-displays, and internet connectivity.
Tony Danforth: Mobian hawk, 24 - an avid Extreme Gear enthusiast part of the Sunnyside Extreme Gear League. Accused of murdering Extreme Gear racer, Radika Bodacious, currently being held for questioning. Presents himself as "chill" and somewhat dopey, but is much more bothered by the situation than he appears.
Vivienne “Viv” Pikmei: Mobian dog (poodle), 23 - a sophomore studying fashion design and marketing at New Yolk University and potential witness found in Collision Corkscrew Skate Park. Has a strong dislike of Tony.
Pookie: Bytenik, age N/A. Vivienne’s beloved, wall-eyed pet. About as spoiled as a bug-shaped robot could possibly be. Attracted to electric signals and (apparently) the sound of Extreme Gear.
Orbot (SA-55): Robot, age N/A - one of Eggman's long-standing personal assistants, rarely separated from Cubot. Seems to have been recently been assigned as head of forensics. Layers his various comments with a thin veneer of politeness. A self-proclaimed fan of doing nothing at all.
Cubot "Mr. Detective Cubot" (IDI-07): Robot, age N/A - one of Eggman’s long-standing personal assistants, rarely separated from Orbot. Seems to have been recently assigned as head of crime scene investigation. Still getting used to his new personality chip, according to Orbot - it has made him rather abrasive.
Winfred “Winnie” Alcost: Mobian walrus, age 56 - head coach of the Sunnyside Extreme Gear League and Jetsam's trainer. Comes across as rather strict with his trainees. He's never seen without his whistle.
Seth Jetsam: Mobian fish (barracuda), age 24 - a skate-type Extreme Gear racer part of the Sunnyside Extreme Gear League. Standoffish and serious, but squeamish about blood. He's apparently a collector of Chao Racing trading cards.
Lawbot (R-D57R): Robot, age N/A - Eggman’s new prosecuting attorney built specifically for the role. Appears made to resemble a Mobian lizard of some kind, though the western theme is curious. Charming and confident, but irks Reiker deeply.
Attorney's Badge: Proof of Reiker's status as an attorney. It's slightly dented, and there's some subtle scratches in the gold tone layer, but it's been polished to near-perfection.
Client File: A collection of text and photo documents detailing information about the client.
Name: Tony Danforth
Species: Mobian Hawk
Age: 24
Hair/Coat: Brown
Complexion: Yellow
Eyes: Dark Blue
Job Status: Unemployed
Marital Status: Single
Previous Charges: Vandalism, Disturbing the Peace
Threat Level: 2 (Minor Nuisance)
Other: Extreme Gear Hobbyist, Graffiti Artist. Purchase history suggests interests in plant keeping, baking, and club activity.
Scorch Marks: A set of burn marks from Tony's Extreme Gear, seemingly made while braking to avoid running over Pookie. The direction of the gradient suggests he was exiting the tunnel.
Tony's Extreme Gear: Tony's signature board - an older model that looks like it's seen better days. The exhaust has been modified to create a loud, flatulent sound when it reaches a high enough speed.
Autopsy Report (Radika): An autopsy report containing details about Radika's death.
Victim - Radika Bodacious (Age 21)
Time of Death - Thursday September 3rd, 20XX, around 1pm
Cause of Death - Excessive blood loss following a gunshot wound through the chest, fired point blank.
Remarks - Chemical traces of ammonia and hydrogen sulfide indicate the presence of a strong, unpleasant odor, unusual for this stage of decomposition.
Addendum - Burn marks (likely caused by incendiary gasses escaping the gun's barrel) are present around the bullet wound, implying a shot at point-blank range.
Addendum 2 - Blood sampled from the stain in DCZ is a confirmed match.
Radika's Jacket: A black jacket with white patches spelling "BODACIOUS 00" on the back, heavily wrinkled and in the early stages of drying out. There are blood stains on the chest and back, and some of the white parts are stained a strange purple hue. The jacket itself is more or less dry, but it still smells... Really bad.
Radika's Cell Phone: A standard mobile phone with a protective case found within Radika's coat pocket. Though resistant to blunt force, it's still vulnerable to water damage, refusing to turn on.
Addendum: Recovered data includes text messages sent between Radika and Alcost, Seth, and Tony on the day of the murder.
Crime Scene Photo: A photograph of the crime scene inside the tunnel at Collision Chaos Skate Park. Notable details include the victim's chalk outline and discarded sweater.
Training Sheet: A document containing records of the Sunnyside Extreme Gear League's training sessions. Includes dates, times, locations, and participants.
True Crime Scene Photo: A photograph of the crime scene inside the DCZ. Notable details include a large blood stain that's been poorly disguised as spilled paint.
Egg-Robo Gun: An Egg-Robo pistol - a dark-colored metal firearm with a large muzzle and a tube connecting the barrel and grip - tinted slightly purple and dripping with sewer sludge. Standard issue for Egg-Robos, it shoots concerningly high-caliber laser beams.
Trading Card Lanyard: A green, stripy lanyard with a pocket meant to hold some sort of ID. It contains a gold-plated Chao racing trading card in a protective plastic case, tinted slightly purple and dripping with sewer sludge, but the card inside still looks pristine.
Radika's Lock Picks: A small black box with a gold colored clasp. The letters "RB" are stamped on the lid in gold, presumably standing for "Radika Bodacious." It's full of lock picks that have been jostled loose from their intended spots.
even if we're on hiatus rn because of, um. what ink said in the previous post, i wanted to note that we're expanding the ask box beyond reiker's law advice - i noticed some other similar blogs use it to ask questions to the devs or sometimes even ask stuff to the characters to get responses, well... in-character, and i thought that might be fun and potentially generate some intrigue. if you have anything you want to ask us or anyone in universe that's unrelated to the here and now of the current case, feel free to throw something in there. we value all the interactions we get and would love to hear what you're curious about!
For those of you who haven't been keeping up with our Discord, Cayde's dear budgie Blizzard has passed today.
She was 8 years old, she died of natural causes within Cayde's care and attention. As you can imagine, Cayde is grieving, and trying to figure out a final resting place. We're probably going to need a few weeks to get everything sorted. During this time Eggs Attorney is going to be on hold, we hope that you understand and can be patient with us in this dreary time.
Orbot: I'm not sure why you're so upset about our warrant distribution system. Isn't it better for you that it be delivered in such a timely manner?
Reiker: I'm just saying, in any other place it takes at least a few hours to get one, not 2 minutes to apply and 15 to process.
Yanshu: It is shockingly fast, isn't it? Makes you wonder what makes those other places take so long.
Reiker: Procedures to ensure there's no wrongful entry, for one...
Orbot: Would you like me to petition the doctor for a more delayed warrant-issuing process? We could very well do this investigation of yours tomorrow... Or perhaps you would prefer a week from now?
Reiker: No! No, it's-... It's fine. Thank you, Orbot.
Reiker: I guess beggars can't be choosers...
Reiker: (That's what I get for trying to have some sort of "moral high ground" in this city... Feels like Sunnyside runs on shadiness.)
Yanshu: It feels a bit off in here without Alcost and Seth, doesn't it?
Yanshu: Huh... There's even a little echo.
Reiker: Let's just do another once-over and get going. I'm not sure how long Lawbot's investigation will take, but those two are probably gonna come back here when they finish.
Yanshu: Yes, sir!
Yanshu: So... What are we looking for again? I thought we saw everything there was to see last time.
Reiker: It is pretty barren, but Alcost kept us chatting the entire time we were here. We may find something with a more hands-on approach.
Reiker: Not to mention... Well, it's probably locked, but I can't help but notice what looks like an office space through that window on the far wall. Who knows what could be hidden in there?
Reiker: If it's not related to Radika, what is it?
Orbot: It's related to a set of robberies targeting several factories in the area.
Yanshu: Oh, that's right! I remember hearing on the news that someone has been going around stealing Badnik parts!
Orbot: Dr. Eggman has been investigating for months with no leads, but I seem to have discovered one of the stolen weapons!
Reiker: Is that a gun?
Orbot: It's a standard-issue Egg-Robo laser pistol - one of the most powerful handheld energy weapons in the doctor's fleet. It was barely recognizable in the sewage, but the barcode and serial number are still intact, and they match one that was stolen about a week ago.
> The Egg-Robo Gun has been added to the Court Record!
Reiker: Hm... If this is a laser gun, that means it doesn't use bullets. A laser would definitely create singe marks, right? Do you think it could have been used to kill Radika?
Orbot: I'm afraid the wound is far too small for a weapon of this caliber... Perhaps if she had a hole the size of her stomach, but that doesn't seem to be the case.
Yanshu: Isn't that a little overkill...?
Orbot: The Badniks' main priority is Sonic. I imagine the doctor isn't particularly concerned what state he'd end up in just as long as he's captured.
Yanshu: [Shudders] Y-yeah... That makes sense...
Reiker: Did you find anything else while you were down there?
Orbot: Only a misplaced personal item. You can have it if you'd like - there's no telling who it belongs to.
> A Trading Card Lanyard has been added to the Court Record!
Reiker: ... Is that a golden Chao card?
Yanshu: I've heard of those - they were sold at Meh-Burger in the 90's as a promotion for the first Chao in Space movie!
Yanshu: It's just a gold-coated aluminum plate, but they've become quite the collector's item!
Reiker: Interesting... Who were we just talking to who'd be into this?
Yanshu: I don't know... It's not like that series isn't popular. It could belong to anyone.
Reiker: Maybe it's just me, but the color of the lanyard and somewhat niche interest makes me feel like this is relevant.
Orbot: Do you two always get this excited about trash?
Reiker: This card may be a hint at who our killer could be, Orbot!
Orbot: Ah, yes... The wrong weapon and a child's playing card. I'll grab the handcuffs.
Reiker: I'm not calling it decisive, but I know these things are related! We just have to find some supporting evidence!
Yanshu: Like what, sir?
Reiker: Well... Is there anything around here that might be related?
Yanshu: Uh...
Yanshu: There's those shoes up there? Those could be marking a location, or... Maybe a meeting point?
Reiker: I think the only thing those tell us is that we're in a bad part of town... What about that sign that got tipped over?
Yanshu: ... "Please do not throw trash into the river."
Yanshu: Seems a bit "too little, too late" for that...
Orbot: Well, good luck with that. Unfortunately, I should be getting back to Cubot and Lawbot.
Orbot: Hopefully after I get this gunk out of my circuits...
Yanshu: I think this area is a bust, Rikey... Nothing but litter and cigarette butts. Can you think of anywhere else we could go?
Reiker: Well, I'd like to check the skate park again. It'd be good to solidify that Tony was there and not in the sewer...
Reiker: ...and Alcost is still down there, right? If no one's at the training grounds right now, I'd love to investigate a bit more thoroughly.
Yanshu: Oooh! Like a break-in!
Reiker: No. That'd never hold up in court...
Yanshu: How else do you expect to get in uninvited, then?
Reiker: Well, most people get a warrant.
Yanshu: We could ask Orbot? He is floating away rather slowly... Looks like he's more concerned about how dirty he is than getting anywhere soon.
Reiker: You may be onto something there...
Reiker: HEY, ORBOT!
Orbot: Is there any particular reason you waited 3 whole minutes into my departure to call me back, or is this some kind of test?
Reiker: You're able to get warrants, right? Would you be willing to help us with our case?
Orbot: Need I remind you that I've been assigned to aid the prosecution? The doctor would hardly be thrilled with me aiding the enemy.
Yanshu: Well... Think of it less as "aiding the enemy" and more... Making sure we don't get in trouble. We're also working under Eggman, after all. You'd just have to sit, er-...hover around outside and keep watch. No work required!
Orbot: I do enjoy doing nothing...
Reiker: N-not like we'd get into trouble! We just need to check the training grounds for evidence again.
Orbot: [Sigh] Tempting... I suppose I'll join you in your snooping.
Yanshu: Great! Thank you so much, Orbot!
Orbot: Ah-... You're welcome?
Orbot: Hm...
Reiker: (Note to self: Orbot is shockingly easy to please.)
Yanshu: So... Where should we go next, Mr. Strait?
Yanshu: I'm sure he's just trying to do his job, Mr. Strait. He's just... y'know?
Reiker: But really!? It's one thing to be particular, but it's another to taunt and belittle me at every possible opportunity!
Reiker: "Law-bot?" M-more like... s—nark-bot!
Yanshu: I... think you're letting this get a bit personal. No offense, but you've been ranting about it since we left the sewers...
Reiker: That doesn't mean anything!
Reiker: What kind of name is "Lawbot" anyway? He doesn't seem that lawful to me.
Reiker: After all, he's just a robot, and one of Eggman's to boot...
Yanshu: Mmmwell-
Reiker: ... Where is Orbot, anyway?
Yanshu: O-oh! Um...
Yanshu: Well, it seems we're at the right spot, I just don't know how long it takes an object to travel through the pipes.
Yanshu: If I had more information, maybe I could do the math... He is just a sphere, after all. That makes it easier to-
Reiker: I just hope he's not stuck...
Yanshu: ... You know, if you wanted to change the subject, you could just ask.
Reiker: I have no idea what you're talking abo-
[SPLOOSH]
Reiker: Woah!
Yanshu: ...!?
Orbot: Oh, wonderful. I finally get out of those awful pipes, and the first thing I see is you two.
Reiker: Well, hello to you, too.
Yanshu: Um... It could've been Cubot?
Orbot: ... Oh, thank goodness, it's you two!
Reiker: Did you find anything interesting in there?
Orbot: Algae.
Orbot: [Shudders] So much algae...
Yanshu: There's plants growing down there!?
Orbot: It's thriving off the chemical waste, it seems - it's anyone's guess as to how. I was forced to try one of Sonic's "spin-dashes" just to get through the muck.
Orbot: How he doesn't get nauseous doing that is beyond me...
Reiker: All you found was algae, then...?
Orbot: Not exactly... I did find a clue towards my investigation!
Reiker: You found something that could exonerate Tony!?
Orbot: What? No! This doesn't have anything to do with that.
Reiker: (If it isn't to do with Tony, then what could he have found, and what other investigation could he be working on?)
if you're an artist who struggles with backgrounds but you have access to a computer i'd really suggest downloading blender and learning how to place basic shapes, use the edit mode and like one or two modifiers (boolean is particularly useful), and how to place / tweak a camera object. you can also download and import models from sites like sketchfab if the shape is too complicated to make yourself
i feel like you can make pretty much anything and get a consistent angle to look at it with that and as you do it more you start getting a better grasp on perspective through practice and become able to do simpler things by yourself
i don't think i was very good at backgrounds before this project but like. now the background files are pieces of art i'm proud of in their own right and it's delightful. i'm very happy with them :)
edit: case in point - the spillway background alongside the reference i made and the camera angle i used
thank you to this person for providing a bridge model on sketchfab <3 my ass did NOT want to make all that
