Story
You are the young Monarch of Ahabalad, a land of wide deserts and rocky mountains. Or rather, you were, until your people, starving under the rule of the Regent — your uncle —, rebelled against your dynasty and started a revolution. To survive, you have to flee your country with the help of your trusted knight, Sir Mansoor, and your tutor, Lady Domara, and take refuge in the underground kingdom of Telidrica, where the Dwarves live. Lagodoro, the Dwarven capital city, is an impressive and intriguing underground metropolis. But it is also dangerous in many insidious ways. While Zanetta, a Dwarven spy, helps you navigate those dangers, you will continue your instruction and find allies in order to, one day, retake what is yours. Unless there is another path to take…

Cast
The main characters include Lady Domara, your court mage and mentor, Nuto, the mysterious gondolier, and 5 companions and relationship options.
• Sir Ajmal Mansoor: Human man; Ajmal has been a part of your life for nearly as long as you can remember. His whole family has been dedicated to your dynasty’s protection for generations and the young knight follows dutifully in its footsteps. He is now your bodyguard and takes any harm coming to you as a personal affront.
Ajmal is a loyal and passionate young man, dedicated to his craft and his duty. He is honest and wears his emotions on his sleeve.

• Zanetta Calvio: Dwarven woman; You meet Zanetta at your arrival in Lagodoro. She does not offer you the warmest welcome, but her quick wit and knowledge of Lagodoro’s underground will surely come in handy if you manage to build a trusting relationship with her.
Zanetta is secretive, but you suppose it comes with the job. She is intelligent, defiant, and will not hesitate to share her less flattering opinions about you if she has any. Or if she thinks you need to be kept humble.
character tag
• Felice: gender-fluid Merperson; A chance encounter brings you to make Felice’s acquaintance. They are mysterious and you quickly realize that you know nothing about them while they are awfully curious about you. It is hard to have any hard feelings about it when they are so charming and polite, however.
What you do know about them is that they are poised, silver-tongued, and quite skilled at finding themself where they ought not to be.

• Armine Sahakian: Elven woman; Your first meeting with Armine is quite formal, but you quickly figure out she is anything but. It is a bit hard to understand what side she is on, if any at all, but when you encounter her, she is working for a Lagodoro noblewoman of great and fearsome influence.
She is nothing like what you would expect from a courtier, however. She can play the polite and proper game well enough, but she is quick to show you her more facetious nature. You will not get bored with her, but be careful she does not drag you into too many troubles…

• Princess/Prince Berhane Kahsu Tihun: Human woman or man; You know Berhane. Not well, but their name holds a heavy meaning for you. They are the younger sibling of the current Queen of Sarnah. But, not unlike you, they both are on the run, fighting to survive. Your uncle put them in this position when he ordered their parents' execution for their crimes against yours, and invaded their land to take hold of Sarnah’s resources.
You do not expect to meet them again. But when you do, they are cold, pragmatic, and resentful. You know there is more to them than that, but years of war have buried the bright and curious teenager you once met.

Missing this 😭 hope you're doing good! Healthy and happy 🙏💕
That's sweet of you to be thinking about this story still. <3 I'm getting by we'll say, the mental health is not mental healthing as well as I wish but we're working on it...
Good news everyone lol. I relaunched and unlaunched the page a couple of weeks ago, as asked, and it looks like it solved the problem and no one has been charged again since.
I still haven't heard back from the people who were charged tho. If you were charged, I would really appreciate a reply, even if you don't want a refund, please let me know, through patreon if you can, or an ask (off anon so I can reply privately) or dm on any of my writing blogs (@oscarwrites @eight-years-revolution or @gonzague-if ).
I've finally received a response from Patreon regarding my page, after having to ask them for an update on the issue. And I received the very fun response that they can't do anything and I have to relaunch my page and unlaunch it again in the hopes it'll fix the problem lol.
So this is a heads up, I'll be relaunching my page and unlaunching it again as soon as I can. In theory no one should be affected but the 3 people still concerned, but please be on the lookout of any unexpected charges and try to unsubscribe if you haven't yet, it would really help.
I'm also still waiting for an answer from the 4 people who have been charged so far to pay them back. If for some reason you can't reply to my messages on patreon, please dm me here with your patreon username if you're one of the people who have been charged since october.
Hey guys, I've just realized something weird is happening with my Patreon page. It's still down or it's supposed to be, but after receiving a concerning email from Patreon, it looks like I've been receiving earnings from my page again since October 2024???
So if you are still subscribed to my page somehow, please unsuscribe if you can and I'll try to contact Patreon and figure out what's going on tomorrow.
If you've been a patron of my page before I unlaunched it, please check your patreon account. I've sent direct messages to the 4 people concerned. It turns out I won't be able to fully refund you through the website so I'll have to do it individually through paypal. I will only be able to do it if you contact me through patreon, tho.
And please, if you can unsubscribe from my page, do it. Patreon support says they're looking into the problem but I don't know that I trust them to resolve the situation before March.

It's been far more than a year, friend, but thank you for sparing my feelings lol.
I would advise you to consider sending some love and encouragements to the authors whose work you love while they are updating if you really want them to keep up their work. You'll find that it's far more effective than whatever you think you're accomplishing here.
Interactive Fiction Community Raffle for Palestine!
Over 50 authors and artists from the Interactive Fiction community here on tumblr have come together to offer an array of prizes for a focused donation drive! We are aiming to raise as much money as possible for five families who are currently trying to evacuate Gaza. These fundraisers have been vetted by @/el-shab-hussein and @/nabulsi (thank you for your hard work!)
RULES:
You MUST donate a minimum of €5/$5 USD to one of these five fundraisers to qualify for a ticket. These are the currencies the GFMs are in (3 in euro, 2 in USD). We chose this amount because it is the minimum GFM allows and we are hoping to encourage as many donations as possible. Please be mindful that GFM does not show the conversion rate if you're donating outside your currency.
Donating once to all five GFMs will get you five tickets. And for each extra 5 you donate, you will get an extra ticket. (ie donating 10 to one GFM gets you 2 tickets, 15 gets you 3, etc.)
There are two tiers we will be pulling prizes from: one tier for writing, and one tier for art. When you submit your proof of donation, you will be asked to specify which tier you want your ticket to go towards. If you are submitting for more than one ticket, you will specify the tiers for each ticket-- you can spread them out between both tiers or put them all towards one.
You will be required to share a receipt/proof of donation via uploading a picture through google forms. We will not be handling any money. You are donating directly to the GFMs, and then showing us proof that you have done so. Please include the GFM and the amount you've donated in the screenshot you upload. We are only taking donations starting from June 7th onward.
We plan to raffle off all possible prizes using a random generator. Once the drive concludes on the 21st, we'll take a few days to gather up & organize the tickets and draw names, and then we will be in touch with winners both on tumblr and via email.
You can find the full list of contributors and prizes here.
Please understand that these prizes are pulled blind and assigned at random. You cannot pick or choose which writer/IF or artist you get. It is completely randomized. You get what you get-- even if you aren't familiar with the writer or their game. Artists and authors also have the right to refuse your request at their discretion. Please be respectful and remember that our main goal and focus here is fundraising for these families.
Abdullah Mohammed and his family
Mohammed Bardaweel and his family
Bilal Salah's family
Suad and her family
Firas Salem and his family
We encourage you to share these families and their fundraisers here and elsewhere. We're hoping by focusing our efforts we can really make a big impact for all of them.
Ticket submission form:
Access Google Forms with a personal Google account or Google Workspace account (for business use).
there are two days left to enter for the raffle!! i'll be closing the submission form at 12pm EST on Friday, June 21st. thank you everyone who has donated and boosted us the last two weeks!!

Here are our contributors for the Interactive Fiction Raffle for Palestine!
Over 50 artists and authors from the IF community here on tumblr have joined together to run a donation drive this month! The raffle will be running from June 7th - June 21st. A separate post will be made with more information, including the rules and ticket submission form, once we're ready to launch.
Our goal is to raise as much money as possible for five specific fundraisers; we hope with us focusing our efforts we'll be able to make a tangible impact for these families. Tickets will be the equivalent of the minimum GoFundMe donation ($5USD/€5), and you will be donating directly to the families and then providing us proof of donation in exchange for your ticket(s).
We plan to raffle off all prizes. Below the cut is the list of contributors for both prize tiers, along with the prize they'll be offering. (Beware, this is a long post.)

this is a formal interest check for a charity raffle with the IF community
if you are an IF author or artist and you're interested in participating in a charity-drive raffle, please check out this form! we are aiming to do one big raffle with a single prize pool, where people submit proof of donation in exchange for a raffle ticket.
prizes we are currently considering would be things like a spicy snippet or a cosy snippet, etc. potential sketches from artists or a rendered bust, etc. and we'll allow the authors & artists to dictate how much/what exactly they're comfortable offering. donating to multiple gfm will mean more entries into the raffle. we'll be offering a list of potential gfm to donate to (we're going to try and focus on ones with low funds) & any artists/authors offering prizes can specify if they want to sponsor specific gfm.
this is subject to change! we are just trying to gauge interest right now and see what we can put together on our side of things which depends entirely on the people willing to contribute & if we get enough interest.
here is the google form for artists and authors to fill out:
this is to help organize a donation drive & raffle within the IF community. you can contact me at @kithj or @nothern-passage on tumblr or @b
this was inspired by the book auction for gaza as well as the many other art raffles i've seen here and on twitter.
thank you everyone for the response so far! i want this form to circulate for a bit before we move forward with anything else, and in the meantime i'll start compiling a gfm list (i'm hoping we can focus donations and really help a handful of fundraisers or even get one fully funded?) as well as putting together forms for getting a ticket.
i will be organizing a discord server later for contributors, if you filled out the form i'll be in touch :-)
hello! just wanted to say I adore this IF, the world building, the characters, the vibes, the story thus far!!! i also wanted to ask if you're still updating it?
Hi! I'm glad you're enjoying the story!
I do plan to update the story again, yes, and I was working on the next one some months ago, until I got severely burnt out on writing.
So for now I'm giving myself the time to rest, recover, get my mental health in a better place and the writing will happen when it'll happen.
I know it's taking a long time and I'm touched that people love my story enough to miss it, but everyone has also been very understanding and patient and I'm very grateful for that.
Do you have any advice or reasources about writing the plot part of interactive fiction? Like how to write and manage the different options and paths the plot might follow?
Hi! Sorry for the delay, I've been trying to stay a bit more offline so to speak, lately.
I'm flattered that you would go to me for advice, but I feel a bit ill-equipped to answer you. Especially since I'm a notorious pantser lol. I don't plan out my plot very extensively. Anything I have planned is vague at best and always subject to change depending on how the writing goes.
I don't do a whole lot to keep track of the different choices and branches in my stories since Twine, in my opinion, is already helpful with that. Seeing the tree of passages in the Twine interface is enough to get an overview of the story's structure for me.
Now if you're coding with something else or don't like to use the Twine interface, you can plan out your branches through another app. I've been using Figma with a friend to organize ideas for a project and that might be helpful to plan things out for you. There's plenty of other options, so I don't know if it's the best for planning IF specifically but I think it would work.
What I do keep track of is numerical stats. For example, there is a stat for your companion's affection and I write down which is the minimal amount of affection and the maximal amount of affection a player can have in each chapter for each character. It helps me balance out any test I might need to make at a given moment.
But ultimately it's going to be up to you how you want to handle things. I've learned through trial and error and I think there's as many ways to plan out an IF as there are authors.
I don't know if this was helpful at all, but I can redirect you to other blogs that might have more answers for you.
@hpowellsmith often talks about their process so I would give them a follow if I were you! @idrellegames also has a bunch of tutorial and advice you can browse, so definitely check her blog out!
