a thing i really like about tuca and bertie is its hypersexual representation, and how differently sexuality is portrayed between the leads.
like, between tuca and bertie. the “vibes” say the hypersexual one should be tuca, the character that has a lot of sex and is ver open about that. but that’s the stereotype. hypersexuality isn’t just having a heightened libido, it’s about disorder.
bertie has sexual compulsions, and so much guilt. her mind turns everything sexual , she finds herself aroused when abused, she finds herself bored with “healthy” dynamics, and she hates herself so much. and that’s. that’s real, ok.
that’s how it feels. and i really like how the dorky girl in a loving relationship is the one shown to be struggling with this, most hypersexual “representation” is just a person with a high libido and not a real representation of this horrible disorder so many go through
