xfreyamikaelson:
When Eileen touched her, Freya’s eyes immediately snapped up to her- her daughter. She took in the girl’s face, clearly this time, and could see the traces of herself in her features. Perhaps even more painfully, she could also see Mathias in her eyes, the only man she had ever loved. This was the child that was taken from them; the child that Freya thought she had killed all those years ago.
Her hand subconsciously went to her stomach, remembering the pain and devastation she felt after Dahlia had told her she had killed her child. It was the worst day of her life and she had never been able to forgive herself. Sometimes she was able to lie to herself and say that she had saved them from a life of servitude to Dahlia, but Freya’s current freedom was a testament to the fact that it wasn’t true. She had killed them for no other reason than her selfish need to escape.
She reached forward and pulled her Eileen towards her, wrapping her arms tightly around the girl. “My daughter,” she whimpered, burying her face in the girl’s neck as tears continued to stream down her face. It didn’t matter that she was, for all intents and purposes, a stranger. It didn’t matter that Freya Mikaelson was openly crying in broad daylight. It didn’t even matter that she was letting her guard down and the girl could kill her at any second. After six hundred years thinking she was dead, they were finally reunited and Freya refused to let anything get in the way of that.
After what seemed like too soon (though even an eternity would have seemed so), Freya managed to calm herself down and pull herself away, though her hands remained attached to Eileen’s arms (as if the girl would disappear if she dared to let go). There was so much she wanted to say but Freya found herself speechless. Six hundred years of dreams and guilt could never be summarized into a few choice sentences. There was no apology she could give that would earn forgiveness, nor were there any words that could excuse her absence from her child’s life.
“There has never been a single day that has gone by that I have not dreamed of you.”
“I dreamed of you too.” She told Freya. She imagined their reunion all the time when she felt alone. She would always push it away quickly because she hated to get her hopes up. Even coming to New Orleans, she was hesitant that she was actually going to tell her about being her child. She was glad that she didn’t run away from this.
“I’ve always wanted a family. I was raised by another witch but she was more like a friend. She didn’t become immortal like me either so I was alone once I turned.” Eileen had to teach herself how to handle her magic that was magnified after she was turned. She became very independent but yearned someone she could be close to and trust. A mentor, perhaps. She reached out to wipe a stray tear on her mother’s face before realizing what she was doing.
“The Mikaelsons.. it’s a big feared family so I’ve heard.” She wanted to know more about the other family members. She heard of their name but didn’t know how they looked. She was concerned that she would not be accepted since she only came now and not earlier. She only hoped that she could finally introduce herself as apart of her true family.
