So, another headcanon ask, this time for Ice :D What is his favourite clasic tale (and why)? Who told it to him for the first time and when? Has he already told this tale to another fellow nation?

[[Great question! I think Iceland would have spent a lot of his early years with Norway and Denmark so I'd like to think he grew up with a lot of Norwegian fairytales and Old Norse prose, with Norway being his storyteller. However he keeps Icelandic fairytales close to his heart and has several books about them sitting in his book collection. It is forever my headcanon that Djákninn á Myrká is one of his favourites and I'd like to point out this tale is the same one Iceland was retelling in the Halloween 2013 event. It looks like Hima and I were on the same page with this one. ;DLike many Icelandic folktales, the author and its origins are unknown but it's been popular with Icelandics for generations. Iceland probably heard this word from mouth before it was finally published on paper in the mid-1800s. And course, we know he's retold this story before! A story with romance and ghosts? What's there not love? (Might I add that romance and mystery are probably his favourite book genres as well?) Another favourite of his is a Norwegian tale called Lurvehette (Tatterhood), a tale about two sisters, one who is was said to be fair and beautiful and other who was ugly and loud, because of its message in regards to beauty. Being a Norwegian tale, Norway would of probably have been the first person to tell him but I don't think he's brought this up with anyone else.I have to do more research on this topic but it was great to get a question like this! [Open!RP] Towers of Books

Reykjavik was its quiet usual self as Iceland decided to take a stroll in the downtown core. He passed by his favourite book store when something had caught his eye. New romance books by local authors were being displayed on tiny stands. His curiosity peaked, he entered the shop and the shop owner greets him in a cheerful tone. Iceland was regular here and he had come to know the elderly woman over the years. He wandered over to his favourite section in the shop, the book shelf in front of him filled with mystery novels, the shelf behind him filled with romance novels. His fingers traced over the binding, he could feel the font on some novels as he carefully glanced at the titles. He looked as if he was on mission, a list of titles already set in his mind. He stopped when his fingers had reached the end of the shelf, near the top, and his eyes had lit up. This was the one! He had been looking for this for nearly a month and he didn’t need to think twice about buying it. Out of curiosity, he turned around to browse the romance section. This time, he didn’t bother glancing at the titles, he simply picked up a random book and read the summary. The one he had picked up seemed rather interesting and decided to open it up to a random passage. "Oh. This is good…" was all that Iceland could mutter before he quickly became engrossed with elegant writing style. So much so, he never noticed the nation that was quietly watching his every move.

"Hmm? What's this?" Iceland opened up the card and read it carefully. He shouldn't have been surprised it was from Finland. But the last part of the message turned a ball of emotions. To know that his family was proud of him meant everything to him. He made a mental note to buy some licorice the next time he goes grocery shopping.
