I can't believe the Rocket launching was yesterday.
It was yesterday, part of me can't believe how quickly everything went by--- I mean, it feels like it happened a while ago rather than a couple of hours ago. I'm still drained from waking up early and pulling my butt out of bed before sunrise, plus, at the moment I have a really bad migraine and cold. I'd like to thank the weekend and rocket smoke for that lovely gift. (Sarcasm implied).
Still recovering from the horrible runny nose and sore throat my allergies granted upon me, I involuntarily woke up at 4:30 am, half an hour before my intended alarm set at 5 am. Maybe it was my excitement that woke me up, maybe it was the "will our rocket launch" nerves that woke me up... hell maybe it was the fact that I could only breathe through one nostril that woke me up. Either way, regardless to what woke me up from my sleep-- I was awake before sunrise and my room was pitch black. It was early. Dragging myself out of bed into the bathroom, I looked at myself in the mirror; my eyes were puffier than usual and my hair was more bed-headish than usual. Oh what a nice sight... You could really tell that I was ready for a rocket launching in the middle of no where. (At this point please note that I'm still cranky and drowsy due to the cough syrup taken not long before that moment). Half dead, but surprisingly excited I texted Ysabella, Genna and Janel not long after I woke up and greeted them with a morning text message just so that we'd all start off the day on a happy note.
Let me take this time to tell you how proud I was to see Genna Amado, infamously known for her tardiness, at my house before 5:30 which was our designated time to meet up. In the morning everyone was just preparing everything for the trip, there were materials to be gathered and stuff to be packed into the car, while my parents were doing their business Ysabella was the next to arrive and we worked on our T-shirts outside in the backyard. The paint fumes weren't really doing me any good... let me tell you that. Janel then texts me at 5:25 saying that she's going to be a little bit late considering the fact that there was a little bit of miscommunication between her and her wake-up call. I'll admit I was a little bit upset, but I got over it in 5 minutes-- things happen. Her only punishment for being late was not getting to make her T-shirt.. Fair enough. Janel eventually arrived when we were all packed and ready to go in the car, as soon as she came she hopped in and we were off. I kid you not 10 minutes into the drive Genna, Ysabella and I knocked out and dreamt dreams of dreams.
The car ride was glorious. The entire ride there a mixed tape Bea gave me was playing on the radio and it fit the entire car ride perfectly, Genna, Ysabella and I all knocked out and Janel just stared out the window in contentment. Oddly, We all woke up at the same time--- we were only 20 minutes away which really wasn't too shabby. Janel saw her first Black and White cow on the way there.
At the actual Rocket Launching I was pleasantly surprised with how the entire day went from there. It was a bonding experience for everyone, it was genuinely really nice. However, there were a couple of problems dealing with our rocket... it was dropped a couple of times and there were some confusions with engines and stuff... fun times man, fun times. All four of us kept on waiting for other rockets to go ahead of us since, let's admit it, we all were thinking the same thing "Our Rocket will explode and kill us all". To our surprise our batch of Rockets was the most entertaining to watch:
Jegy (Our rocket): To all our surprise, it flew... Boy, it flew high and far at an angle! Sadly... the Parachute didn't function properly and our rocket just plummeted towards the earth, and while it was plummeting, some of the fins came off and you can just see it already coming apart in the air and *plumf!* it hit the ground a quarter mile away. Before we went venturing off to retrieve our little Jegy rocket we stayed to watch Yolo.
Yolo... I need to mention this. I don't want to.. I need to. This rocket belonged to Nicole, Marco, Bea and Bryan... My goodness, that rocket made my day. I had a feeling this rocket was special, aside from the witty twist of a name the actual launching made it all the more perfect:
It launched high and fast into the sky... There goes the first stage.
It's beginning to make it's way down... Where's the second stage?
It's now nose down towards the ground, still very high in the air.
BAM-- there goes off the second stage and now it's going full force downwards and it hits the ground hard.
Throughout the entire time everyone dies of laughter just applauding the entire performance.
After the actual launching there was a small picnic going on behind my car, my parents had this entire sandwich thing going on and a lot of people came and just had a good time talking and eating. It was a nice way to end everything. Memories were made that day and I don't regret going at all.
