Inspired by the performance work of artist Lorraine O'Grady. September 1983 Lorraine O'Grady created a float that was a part of the African American Parade on 7th avenue in Harlem. On it was a huge guilded frame and performers on the float went into the audience placing frames around spectators having them become the art. It was entitled Art is... I was inspired by this performance and placed a frame as part of my booth for visitors to frame themselves as they would a work of art.
