Welcome to the Old Woman Tourney! We're taking 62 old woman and having everyone determine who reigns supreme! What does that mean? Are they the best characters? The most iconic elderly? Could they suplex a dragon? I don't know! But people vote!
While I get everything seeded, 5 preliminaries will take place, getting us the last 5 participants we need! Each contains 2 characters under the same IPs, with all fighting to secure spots representing them. Those preliminaries will all take place at 9/4/2023 (the laborest of days) starting at 10 EST, and will last a week.

The classification can be a bit vague, so let's get into the rules and definitions.
A virtual character is described as a character existing in a digital space (classified by the narrative as such) who primarily operates within said space.
They can have a physical form in some capacity, but it cannot take precedence over their virtual form. (If they do not have a singular physical form and are known to body-hop, that's fine.)
A franchise can have up to 3 representatives.
Be respectful of other people. The characters are fictional, but the people rooting for them are not.
No n*zis, t*rfs, tr*nsphobes, or any other related bigots. Not even as an easy springboard for another character to win.
I say virtual characters due to stipulation against AI. AI could work, but in this case, I mean fictional AIs that exist for all kinds of narrative purposes, and not current modern AIs, which exist to let techbros steal from people and cross moral boundaries.
I guess while I'm on that, let's talk about franchises or properties that are excluded from the running.

Hello. I'm breaking character for a sec to update you all regarding the pre-qualified entrants to the next tournament.
There was one character that was prequalified, one of those fancy poetic entrants. Specifically,
"A shadow in a child’s dream, befriending those they encounter while keeping away the monster they made…and the monster that made them."
This character was from a piece of media created by an individual that I had hoped was changing for the better. However, recent events have made me reconsider this character. I'm being as vague as possible here, but if you're familiar with this person's work, you may have an inkling as to who it was.
Rather than replace them, I'll keep it to 3 for now. In the meantime, I hope this will not place much of a damper on the tourney. I hope to have it announced by the end of the week. Once it's set up, I'll reblog the announcement. It will be on another account.
Did she not receive the same development as her male counterparts? Was she subject to misogynist trope after misogynistic trope? Was she constantly sidelined and never allowed to do anything? Were her abilities always downplayed because god forbid she ever rival the men? Is the creator(s)’s misogyny really shining through? Did she deserve so, so much better than she got?
