“No, non.” Émeline remarked, people frequently believed that she was Lisette when she facing away from them in the gardens. “You must be looking for ma sœer.” Pausing momentarily, she turned with a mischievous grin. “I’m curious, though. What adventure were you going to offer? I’ve been so bored I’ve resorted to counting flower petals. I think I’m going mad.”
“Oh, pardon me, mademoiselle,” she said, giving the girl a smile. “I thought you were your sister. I was just going out for a walk. It’s a lovely day out, and I might as well not spoil such an opportunity. Have your tried counting petals of different flowers then?”
