who's the cutest new person you've seen? feel free to say more than one because they're all cute to me
HYUNSOOK would take the top spot of my list, but RUDI follows closely, as well as RHEA and KYUNGWON.
kyungwon-rhee:
their facade fell somewhat. of course she saw through them. she always did. kyung won cast their gaze to their hands. “i know,” they said, quietly. the problem was, they had no idea how to begin. how they felt was so complicated and amorphous, it was impossible to put to words. “i don’t… i don’t feel like myself? but. i do. i don’t know.” they scratched their head, eyes sparkling as they focused their efforts on finding the right words. “i know you accept me. i know the princess accepts me. everyone who knows, accepts me.” they chewed their words. their voice became very, very quiet. “what if… what if i’m not… it sounds so fake, androgyne… th-that sounds so made up. i’m just causing others such discomfort.” they finished in korean.
❝ ✗ ; ———- she bit her tongue at the mention of princess yi. taking into account the current relations between the south and the north, her name was far behind the last thing on her 'people i want to hear about in the morning' list — but she let it slide, knowing how big the role she played in kyungwon's life was. in addition, they were talking about something that was important to them, and it was selfish of her that she concentrated on the single word, even if it was just for a second. this was about her best friend. "you're not causing anybody discomfort, mindeulle, trust me." she smiled at them, "so, you're confused about your identity; is that right? correct me if i‘m wrong. that’s okay, though — from time to time, everybody is." her voice as composed and soft as ever, she tried her best to calm whatever storm must've been going on in their head at the moment, even if she knew it wasn't that easy. "it’s a part of life and it’s temporary. in fact, it’d be weird if you were completely sure about everything at such a young age." ❜
jaydwynn:
Jewel was awake because the other side of the world was still awake and this was the perfect time to get some fatherly advice. As much as she loved her Russian family, she missed hearing her American father. “Mm… I was talking to Americans. How ‘bout you?” She mentioned casually, letting her sentence roll into a yawn. She wasn’t sure who she was speaking to, but it really didn’t matter. The royals were all the same to her. With closed eyes and a long stretch of her arms, she walked forward until she felt the railing lightly hit her torso. Jewel placed her arms down so she could grab onto the railing. “Oh,” She finally said, after opening her eyes, “You’re from North Korea.” At that, a tired Jewel started to giggle lightly. She was worth more than that whole country.
❝ ✗ ; ———- "why americans?" she asked, glancing at the girl and wondering whether or not she’s seen her before; she didn’t look familiar, but hyunsook wasn’t any decent at recognizing faces she’s only seen around once or twice. as the brunette stood next to her, she turned on her heel and leaned her elbows against the glass fence. she began to observe the clouds as they moved in the sky, but what followed next made her frown in confusion. "i am," she nodded, looking away from the dawn to eye the other up and down. "perhaps i’m just lacking a sense of humor, but i don’t see how that’s amusing." ❜

There was no good reason for being awake at five am. There really wasn’t, Inari had concluded just a ten minutes ago when she had closed her laptop and realized that she was way too restless to actually catch some sleep, which was why she had found herself on top of the building. Her sleepy eyes recognized the princess just from the back of her head — Inari was extremely thankful that it was her, a person she felt comfortable around. A tired but warm smile grew on her lips and she let out an amused hum. “This is what you get for agreeing to Skype with your friends on a Friday night. Friends whose timezone is five hours behind yours,” Inari explained with a sigh. It wasn’t something she regretted, she just felt a bit silly for not Skyping with them a bit earlier. “Too emotional and restless to sleep,” she admitted as she stepped to stand by her friend. She let her head fall on top of Hyunsook’s shoulder. “Are you having trouble sleeping too?”
❝ ✗ ; —-—-—- hyunsook's face lit up when she saw the golden hair and friendly smile of princess inari, a dear friend she was always happy to see. she shook her head at her words, letting out a laugh as she took a sip of her drink, "you see, that's a bad reason to lose sleep. you should spend more time with people who are in the same timezone as you; like me." she shrugged, smiling and leaned an elbow against the fence. laying her hand on her head, she stroked her hair as she looked up to watch the clouds. she sighed, "i am. everything is so complicated now and i'm sick of it." the relations between east asian countries weren't the best at the moment, which laid weight on her shoulders and gave her something to constantly think about. but, now, she was even more worried about what it was that bothered her friend, "what worries you, ari?" ❜
kyungwon-rhee:
they school their face into a pleasant expression. they’d develop ulcers from internalizing everything, but they’d rather that than worry the ones they cared about. “i’m alright, truly. you know how i am, i’m a worrier.” they smiled at her, hoping to ease her concerns. they were reluctant to talk about their own issues, especially since there was no one on the compound who even could. “i am worried about what will happen to me when the princess marries prince kikuhito,” they lied. kyung won’s expression was tight. they were a terrible liar.
❝ ✗ ; —-—-—- hyunsook looked at them in disbelief, figuring out they were deceiving her. she could tell when their best friend had heavy weight on their shoulders, and knew she wasn't wrong when she thought there was something beyond what they were telling her. even so, she let them talk. "so, it’s about what will happen to you when the princess marries prince kikuhito; is that it?" her eyebrow rose, "i don't think you need to worry about that." she didn't want to push them to tell her what they wanted to keep to themselves, but she also wanted them to know she was there for them, "you know, you can tell me anything. i'm not saying i'll be able to help you, but i'll listen to you." she assured them and laid a hand on their shoulder, gently squeezing it. ❜
yi-haekyung:
Hae-Kyung hated China and the people who affiliated themselves with it. The Chinese were nothing better than pigs to her and she didn’t like being in Shanghai. It also drove her nuts that somehow she was being connected to China as some kind of friend. Though, all her aggression towards them couldn’t even be compared with how much she abhorred North Korea. How were they even in the same damned alliance? Hae-Kyung squeezed her eyes shut as she slammed her laptop shut. Tensions were high in South Korea because of the coming war and the unfinished one with the North. She needed a break.
She stormed out of her room and wandered for a while until she found the spot that she would frequent during troubling evenings. However, what she saw there froze whatever warmth this place brought her. Hae-Kyung was silent for a moment, out of shock or maybe to give her hatred the time to settle into her hard glare. “What the hell are you doing here?”
❝ ✗ ; ———- the moment of silence forced hyunsook to narrow her eyes to see the person who came in through the intense light. her smile vanished as she saw the south korean princess stand by the doorway and even more so at her reaction to her presence. although she didn't feel burning hatred towards princess haekyung, taking the current situation into account, she wasn't the first person she wanted to see in the morning. ❜
❝ returning her uncooperative gaze, she put her mug down on a nearby table and leaned her back against the railing that bordered the rooftop terrace. "i don't like your tone," she said bluntly, her face straight. she raised her head slightly and crossed her arms, "well; this tower provides a nice view, don't you think? there's no better place to go to." ❜
kyungwon-rhee:
kyung won’s brow rose in mild alarm. “i do know cpr but i would really rather not have to use it. and, no offense, but that sounds really gross.” still, they were smiling a little as they sighed, slumping against the railing. “oh, a little bit of everything, i suppose. world issues, princess yi, myself a little, you.” kyung won shrugged. they were a bit fatigued from worry itself. enough that they began to feel a little numb to it, which frightened them, as they believed there were few things as dangerous as indifference. to be cruel and evil was one thing, but to not care at all was utterly insidious. far harder to combat than outright aggression or negativity.
❝ ✗ ; —-—-—- one side of her face sported a smile, "might sound gross to you, but consider the energy boost it gives you." she pulled away from the railing, turning around to lean her back against the glass fence instead. wrapping one leg around the other, she twisted her neck to keep eagle eye on them as they were blowing their cover. "kyungwon, i'm sorry to hear that," she heaved a sigh; it was fairly upsetting, seeing them ill at ease. after all, witnessing everybody else wretched, experiencing those downbeat moods, somehow always added up to her own. "that's nice of you, to be worried about me." eyes darting, she stayed silent for a while to think about what they said, "yourself? why's that? "
hrhaphrodite:
“Hm. Spicy food isn’t for everyone I suppose. Mexican is definitely the best. Favourite dish? I love sandwiches and bread in general. I think pasta? I’m going to have to think about that a bit more. What about you?“
❝ ✗ ; ———- “indeed, it isn’t,” she agreed, “the last time i ate spicy food, not even water stood a chance at extinguishing the fire in my mouth. in fact, it felt as through it even made it worse--- i haven’t tried it again since then.” hyunsook listened as the other named all her favorites, nodding along before she began thinking about what hers were. “frankly, i think i’m more on the picky side, but i like bibimbap, kimchi, deodeok gui and dubujeon. mcdonalds’ fries are good, too.” ❜
kyungwon-rhee:
kyung won was used to getting up early for work. back in the palace, it was mandatory, no matter what anyone said. here at the tower, the princess didn’t always need them in the morning, so they didn’t have to “report for duty” as early anymore. they’d gotten pretty decent at sleeping in, but some nights the worries of the world got to them, and they couldn’t help but get up early. when this happened, they liked to watch the sunrise and let its warm glow melt the night’s anxieties away. “ah, good morning, lady princess.” they glanced around, making sure they were quite alone, then smiled broadly and hurried over. “oh, i couldn’t sleep,” they answered, smiling. “what about you, hyun sook? do you have lots of worries, too?” if anything besides the sun could brighten their morning, it was seeing their best friend.
❝ ✗ ; ———- her smile grew bigger as they came over. she leaned against the railing on the rooftop terrace, glad to see it was kyungwon that showed up at the door---after all, she couldn’t ask for anybody better to be the first person she sees in the morning.“just some, won, but it’s nothing to stress over,” she pressed her lips together, waving her hand as she placed her mug on a table standing nearby. “it’s really just the things everybody worries about,” she shrugged, “that, and the heart attack i’ll certainly get once i’ve finished this,” hyunsook pointed at the half full, half empty mug. “it’s only about forty percent coffee. the rest is the two cans of redbull i decided to spice it up with.” she explained with a hiss that soon turned into a chuckle, attempting to light up the mood before continuing, “what are you worried about, though, buddy? world issues, or something else?” ❜
“Mexican food will always be my favourite. But I have to say, Indian food isn’t too bad. You want to try some?” she asked, turning to the person besides her.
❝ ✗ ; ———- “thank you for the offer,” hyunsook nodded before slightly shrugging her shoulders and continuing, “but i think i’ll have to pass. i’ve heard it’s spicy, isn’t it? i’m not into that. i approve of mexican, though. —— what’s your favorite?” ❜
being as tired as she was, greta couldn’t surpress the huge, loud yawn that escaped her mouth. “i’m sorry, i didn’t mean to.”, she apologised, rubbing her eye, “that probably didn’t look too graceful.”
❝ ✗ ; ———- “don’t worry about it,” hyunsook giggled, looking over at the girl next to her. “i’ve done worse. what’s up, didn’t get much sleep?” ❜
❝ ✗ ; ———- hyunsook took a deep breath, stretching her limbs as she looked up, holding a big mug of black coffee in both of her hands as she stood on the rooftop terrace. although she’s always enjoyed the refreshing, slightly chilling breeze that stroked her cheeks whenever she came out to watch the sunrise, lately, she’s found herself wandering around at early hours because it’s been becoming more difficult to get more than three hours of sleep each passing night. she watched the sun as it began to fill the sky. the intense, golden morning light shone on her face, making her skin brighten up and eyes light up as she fixed them on the person that just climbed up the stairs. ❜
❝ "hey, you,” she smiled, gesturing the other to come closer. “what are you doing awake?” ❜
alesscndrcs:
“Reading is good, but like you said it’s trying to focus on the pages. What we really need is something fun that doesn’t really need too much focus.”
“i don’t know---it’s difficult since everybody’s so different and while reading might help me, it might not be suitable for somebody else. what about dancing or listening to music? what kind do you like?”
“I know that everything that is happening at the moment is terrible, but I honestly just need a distraction right now.”
“i think everyone in here could use some. i’ve tried reading books, and if you can manage to actually focus on the words on the page, it does help. it’s better than nothing, that’s for sure.”
