I got my hopes up for a moment when I heard the voodoo talk, it would have certainly made you more interesting.Â
But Jenkins is out of her mind and I should have known better.Â
Iâd apologize for not being interesting enough for you, Madison, but I honestly do not give a single shit. Now that, I am sorry about.
You should have, but you didnât, so essentially, itâs your own fault for your disappointment, not mine.
Thatâs difficult around here because I feel like itâs contagious.
Iâm phenomenal as usual, havenât had our wonderful counselor starting rumors about me like that but Iâm waiting for the hammer to drop, you know? And what about you? I havenât seen you around lately.
Yeah, Iâm sure everyoneâs going to get their turn with that godawful gossip. Itâs just a matter of time.
Iâve been being more of a ghost than a banshee lately, honestly. I guess Iâm just beginning to get into the mood of socializing. Not to sound weirdly anti-social or anything. Itâs just kind of weird being back.
I feared as much, damn.
I dunno, thereâs always Sense and SensibilityâŚ.
Unless weâre referring to Jane Austen, then yes. Yes, there is.
If weâre referring to myself, thereâs more sense than sensibility.
I can be but I try my best not to be.
Positive that I can be too, but I try to keep my psychosis to a bare minimum.
Anyway, on to better topics. Howâve you been, Heather?
That raises so many questions, I donât think Iâm thinking of all of themâŚ.
Well, I can remedy the curiosity to all of your questions -- even the ones you canât fathom -- by letting you know that there are no sensible answers whatsoever.
Then again, nothingâs really sensible here.

Stuck in the Grind || Alec and Eleanor
Swearing under his breath Alec gave an experimental tug on his sweater, all ready knowing the situation was hopeless. His options were limited and the most preferable seemed to be just to lay down and die on the mailroom floor. He was all ready there, it wouldnât take much for the staff to mail his body back to his dad. Behind him he heard the door open, soft footsteps accompanying the sound and Alec flushed silver at being caught. Stepping closer to the mailbox he pretended to be looking over his letter and hoping that whoever it was would just leave him to deal with the situation himself, ideally without realizing there was a situation at all.Â
âLooks like youâre stuck.â
Oh no.Â
Without thinking he turned sharply, mouth open and sweater still caught in the mailroom door as he stared down at the small girl smiling up at him. âEleanor,â he breathed out in greeting. The hand that was not currently holding onto the edge of his sweater reflexively moved through his hair as he tried his best to appear nonchalant. He knew Eleanor was back, he had seen her a few times, just passing glances in the halls and certainly enough people had come up to him, practically congratulating him on having her back. Only it wasnât really his celebration to have. Not the way they thought anyway.Â
Completely forgetting himself he tried to take a step closer, only to find himself pulled back against the wall once more. âFuck!â He growled, whirling back around to slam a hand against the wall and give the sweater a harder tug that yielded no better results. Agitated and now fully flushed silver he sighed. âYeah, Iâm stuck.âÂ
Granted, anyone could accidentally get caught in a locker, door, or anything that latches, but it takes a special kind of person with a certain kind of luck to get stuck in someone elseâs locker, and Alec is that certain, special kind of person. Which is why Eleanor isnât very shocked with the situation. A little amused, maybe, if the slight curve of her lips proves to be any indication of that. âOnly you.â The words escape her more fondly than she intends, though she doesnât seem to lament it.
Rounding him so that she could face him (and prevent him from yanking himself anymore), she tilts her head slightly while peering up at him, taking notice of the silvery flush beneath his skin; she canât tell if heâs more frustrated about the situation or embarrassed about it. âIâm guessing this isnât your locker,â she says, briefly pointing a finger towards the locker before she moves her hand to the junction of his sweater and the locker, giving an experimental tug. âIâd help, but Iâm not really sure how,â she casually hums, leaning against the locker. She hasnât been unable to take her eyes off of his face for too long, mainly because thereâs comfort in the familiarity of it; in the familiarity of him, and that he hasnât seemed to change too much.
âSince it doesnât look like youâre going anywhere anytime soon,â and no, she canât help the smile that creeps onto her face at her own innocent jab at his situation, âCan we talk? Or can I apologize?â
Because Iâm apparently heartbroken, jealous, and simply malicious, voodooâs obviously my coping mechanism, according to our insipid counselor.
Iâve got to admit, it makes me sound a bit dangerous. Or... psychotic.
My Only Friend : Eleanor & Finnian
It's been a little over a month since her return to BATS, and Eleanor's found that she hasn't been too interested in making new friends and reacquainting herself with old ones, though there has been a handful of people she's been close with in the past and have managed to speak with. But it's all been both curt and cordial. It's not that she's been trying to be avoidant of her old friends; she just hasn't settled in quite yet, though she supposes it's unfair to the people she actually cares about to be a metaphorical ghost.
That, and it's extremely difficult to play the ghostly role upon seeing someone she cares about in pain. It's not the kind of pain that's obvious to the eye because in the moments that she's seen him, he acts normal enough, but Eleanor likes to think that she knows Finnian better than the facade he's been keeping up, and while she's got a good idea of why he's in such a condition, she can't bring herself to mention it, but what she has brought herself to do is venture to the band room where she know he's mentioned being in -- after starting a club, apparently.Â
She's got no interest in joining, but she figures until he finds other members, he could use the company. As she approaches, there's music passing through the closed door, and it's familiar, though it's sad for various reasons, so she decides to interrupt, save him the heartache and herself the worry. Pushing the door open, she slips inside quietly, eyes flitting over to the keyboard. "Are you mine, really?" There's a faint smile on her face as she's hoping to catch Finnian off and distract him from his love ballad.
Phantogram - My Only Friend
Stuck in the Grind || Alec and Eleanor
Before his extended break from the academy, Alec checked his mail maybe once or twice a semester. Even that usually came after a note was slipped under his door threatening him with punishment if he didnât empty out the box. Now, however, his father had told him to look out for a letter he was sending his way before they parted and for the first time Alec not only believed him, but wasnât dreading the contents.Â
It didnât mean that they were suddenly the perfect family, or that Alec didnât open his box with a wave of trepidation to find the letter sitting there. It was a start though. Apparently Alec hesitated too long in the mailroom, too lost in his own self centered daze and found his personal space being invaded upon as a tall girl with a half shaved head reached past him to open the box next to his. She said nothing but her body language and the sharp look she sent his way quite clearly conveyed how little she thought of his momentary crisis as she angrily turned her lock. Alec knew he was in her way, really the one in the wrong here, but his stubbornness never allowed him to back down and he decided to take his time opening his letter and standing in her way.
He had only made it to the opening -Dear Alec- when the girl (a hunter maybe? a demon? did he care?) slammed his door shut hard enough to make Alec jump and stormed off with her own mail clutched in her hands. Rolling his eyes at the display he turned back to the letter, carefully shutting his own door.Â
I hope school isnât-
Alec made it two steps before he was suddenly pulled backwards. âWhat the fuck?â Growling in agitation he turned his attention backwards and was met with an unfortunate sight; the end of his sweater closed in the locked mailbox of the girl who had just disappeared around the corner. âOh no.âÂ
Things have been quiet, and Eleanor's been reveling it. Honestly, she couldn't have imagined returning to chaos when she's been wrapped up in tranquility for nearly a year. It hasn't been as difficult as she's imagined, re-assimilating herself back into the school's atmosphere, though she's been strangely limited to where she goes, who she speaks with. She may have gotten herself comfortable in the familiarity of the school but not with the students. She's yet to decide on when she wants to take that step because she's changed as far as her prior enrollment goes, and she's not sure if anyone she's known before is ready for that.
One thing about her hasn't changed, and that's her writing to her mother. They exchange letters on a daily basis, keeping up with matters that involve her new little brother, herself, and her father. Because of this, the mailroom has been one of the places within the school that she frequents more than others. With a sealed envelope in hand, she rounds the corner towards the mailroom, pausing only when she sees a girl storming out of the door she's meant to enter, and curiosity strikes her about why she's so upset, but she doesn't dwell on it. She does check the door to the mailroom, though, genuinely surprised that it isn't in pieces from how harshly it'd just been slammed.Â
The mailroom is usually full, so she doesn't typically bump into too many people, and with the prior exit, she's honestly surprised that there's anyone left in the room outside of possible staff. Even more surprised when she sees Alec. Stuck. She makes a point to move and drop the envelope into the mail drop before she wanders over to Alec, brows raised in amusement at his current predicament. "Looks like you're stuck."
I am in love with the the quiet in my bones, my own desires, and the jumps and drops my heart makes before I am in love with any person.
I Am In Love, Even When Iâm Not Saying âI Love Youâ To Anyone | Lora Mathis
Great!
**Trix leaves, cursing Eleanor out under her breath**
[Something is obviously off, but Eleanor honestly can't be bothered to care, so she watches Trix leave, emotionless expression on her face, before she resumes writing in her journal.]
"I guess they do. Not that I would know how it looked before."
Does that mean you're still relatively new?
Yeah, this place doesnât really change much.
I'm a little relieved by it, I think.
Some things are better off staying the same.
