i see this post has gained quite a bit of traction since the fnaf movie was released. and i have seen confusion and just weird thingd in the tags. let me explain.

scott cawthon, even tho he isn't making the games for fnaf anymore and has stepped away, he still gets the money from anything related to it, be it merch, games, even the ticket sales for the movie. scott, who is a conservative christian, has a very big (and very easy to google search) track record of donating to right-wing bigots, such as trump and mitch mconnell, as well as groups who target lgbt and fund conversion camps. when he was caught doing so is when he started to step away, but now that he is out of the public eye in terms of fnaf, he can still take all the earnings and donate to whoever he feels like aka right wing groups who hate minorities.

in terms of smiling friends, the creator, zach hadel, better known as his newgrounds/youtube name psychicpebbles, is also a terrible person. him and his friends on newgrounds (such as oneyng, ricepirate, etc.) work on the cartoon. the thing is, zach has a huge list of things like scott cawthon does. zach's content is littered with racist, homophobic, transphobic, bigoted content that was common in NG back then, but it is still his sense of humor. also, speaking of his friends, he is still friends with well known p3d0 neo-nazi artist, shadman and last i recall, along with him and oneyng, still talk to him. he also did nfts.

basically what i am saying, is: if you are going to speak up about how jk rowling is a terrible human being and uses her content to harm and harass minorities, then you have to understand that the creators of the things you like could also be hurting people. you cannot pick and choose who to ignore and who to condemn. and i am not the person who is telling you to stop supporting shit because lets face it, we all know that people will still give the cash to corporations and creators that made something extremely profitable and still do terrible things. but all i say is take a step back and really look at the media you are consuming and giving your money to and wonder where it goes.
