Iron Man released the same year that Leverage's first episode aired. Imagine how that could go if they, like, shared a universe. There's so many different options.

Like, Stark Industries is a perfect candidate for a Leverage mark. The events of Iron Man could have never happened because the Leverage Crew got to Stark Industries first and took Tony and Stane down a peg.

Or, if we assume movie/show release order is timeline order, the events of Iron Man happen before Leverage's first episode which could mean the Leverage crew leave Tony well enough alone but also just because Tony's turned over a new leaf and Obadiah's dead doesn't mean Stark Industries isn't still hurting people.

Or, and this is my favorite, the Leverage Crew pull a job on Stark Industries right in the middle of the events of Iron Man. Tony's missing, presumed dead, and Obadiah's in charge in the meantime so it seems like a pretty routine job, take down the under the table arms dealer and then watch him break down (maybe with a bit of gloating thrown in), but then Tony comes back and is suddenly announcing this whole new direction for the company which throws everything into disarray because Nate's good but there's no way he could have planned for Tony essentially coming back from the dead and also claiming that he wants to stop doing the thing they were trying to make him stop doing (though, of course, Stark Industries keeps doing under the table arms deals because Tony doesn't know about those).

And what's more, Hardison, after a very difficult hacker battle with JARVIS, hacks into Tony's private files and discovers that he's building some sort of mech suit (and also that Stane is trying to copy Tony's mech suit) which he then proceeds to use in Afghanistan which, like, what are you even supposed to do with that information. And also Tony obviously now knows that someone broke into his files because JARVIS told him (I don't think Hardison realizes he's dealing with true AI but he does make a comment about how weird it is that the system itself seems to be actively fighting him, or alternatively assumes its a Steranko) and that could go any number of ways

Also they either encounter Rhodey or some SHIELD agents so Eliot can ID their branch of the military off of their fighting stance or something because "its a very distinctive stance."

And Pepper comes, like, really close to figuring out their con by herself.

I'm thinking the client could be, like, someone who has family in Afghanistan that got killed by a Stark Industries weapon so they ask the Leverage Crew to get revenge Stark Industries for them because that's significantly easier than getting revenge on terrorists on the other side of the ocean.

The client is the family of one of those soldiers in the escort with Tony who got gunned down. What was Jericho missiles doing firing on their own people? Why did their children die. WHY WOULDN'T ANYONE TELL THEM???

Leverage is on it. Reporter on the case? Check.

Press on speed dial? Check.

Pepper potts being carefully watched? Check.

Obadiah on the chopping black? In progress.

And everything is going according to Nate's plan- annnnd tony stark is back from the dead his military best friend is clocking Eliot Hardison is at war with a staranko upgrade parker barely avoided Stane downloading files in his office and Nate and Sophie barely escape with their covers as the press gets way out of their control ala tony.

In the matter of 24 hours the con goes up in flames. But now Tony is investigating and Stane is getting violent and who in the world is SHIELD?

Who am I to say no to that?

The first and biggest idea/headcanon is Eliot Spencer is Bucky Barnesc biological son from hydra winter soldier testing. Neither of them know and it takes a looooong time to come out.

Clint and Parker get along eerily well cause vents and also he's dad shaped and Parker is delighted teaching his children to do crime. It's a trial run for the way he'll be with Wanda later on in the beginning.

I saw somewhere someone said the actor for Hardison would have rocked as Tony Stark and boy were they right. Tony and Hardison get along great but only in the lab once outside Tony acts like his rich brat self as his shield around him and hardsion nails him with 'and this is about the point we start planning your demise if you keep acting like that' he and Tony are professional him and banner on the other hand? Best buds.

Nate Ford and Coulson don't dislike each other exactly but I'm not sure I'd say there's respect there either. The simple truth of the matter is leverage is small for small issues compared to the Avengers issues. They just don't function on the same level. But the team is definitely on Fury's watchlist.

Natasha and Sophie have a very rocky start. They're both trying to gauge each other and unlike Sophie and tara it's not all in good fun. Natasha normally kills her targets Sophie steals for people that get a thrill out of being robbed. They are not the same and their ingrained training has taught them very differently. But they do eventually get to the point they can discuss simply things like fashion and lipstick and the easiest way to immobilize a man with a hair tie.

the simple answer is they stumble into Fury's radar when jarvis flags their activity during the iron man press conference and while they will never be called upon do deal with avenger threats they will be slipped tips under the table for other details. Until we get to civil war of course cause then everything changes. But that's a different discussion.

Kazuko’s phone was out of battery or it would at least be the excuse she would use to explain why she wasn’t answering the dozens of calls that were probably saturating her voicemail this very moment.

She didn’t want to know. She longed for the bliss of ignorance. And even if, rationally speaking, she knew that there was no proof that one of her students was connected to whatever had sent a dozen of heroes running/flying/driving at full speed to Tattooine, she simply knew that he had done something.

But it didn’t concern her before her first coffee. Every morning, she had fifteen blessed minutes where she could just relax at her desk, without anyone interrupting her, right before her students arrived.

She just had to walk through the hallways without being noticed… get in the teacher room… grab one of the coffees that Yagi-san, the new teacher, brought every morning… and then… just…

Something appeared as she was making a quick get-away and she screamed, her high-pitched-shriek echoing on every wall. Heroic heads popped up from every room in that specific hallway, only to disappear when they saw what had surprised her.

“Hello to you too, Kurosawa-san,” the principal cheerfully greeted her. “Would you mind accompanying me to my office?”

Kazuko was a nice person who didn’t deserve this but she still complied, pushing back her hair with one head and straightening her bag so it would stop hitting her hip every time she took a step.

They took the elevator reserved for Nedzu’s exclusive usage (which meant that she had to crouch a little) and discovered Aizawa-san already here, though his sleeping bag was crumpled on the ground. He had just gotten out of it.

“What did he do this time?” she sighed, because of course, this was about Midoriya Izuku.

Most of Gen Ed was made of students who had tried the entrance exam of the hero course and accepted that maybe becoming a hero simply wasn’t the right path for them. However, since Aizawa-san had arrived, she had met another kind of hero course rejects: those who had passed the exam only to be expelled on their very first day.

Midoriya had clearly ignored that this was an option and had been in the middle of a mental breakdown when she had met him, only to bounce in the most chaotic way possible.

Every year, Kazuko organized a visit to the USJ.

This year, a new group called the League of Villains had attacked the site, expecting to kill All Might while he was teaching a hero class.

Instead, they had met a class full of high schoolers literally ready to kill to get a place in the hero course. Somehow, this had ended with what was left of the League running for their lives and Midoriya keeping one of their most dangerous member as a class pet.

“Earlier this day, Midoriya encountered the villain Muscular during his morning run,” Aizawa-kun announced.

A violent headache started to throb inside Kazuko’s skull.

“Muscular was trying to kill Pro Hero Death Arms at the time. So Midoriya recruited about ten random civilians and quirk-engineered an explosion that embed Muscular into the side of a building.”

Kazuko drank her coffee. It was rude and inappropriate to drink it righ now but she needed it.

“No need to worry,” Nedzu gently patted her hand. “Midoriya’s bio enhanced weapon apparently sat on Muscular when he woke up so the police was able to apprehend him quickly.”

“We prefer to call him Ren,” Kazuko couldn’t help to say.

Her students were very attached to him. He kept following Midoriya around like a lost puppy so Nedzu had given the permission for him to live in UA. One of Aizawa’s students, Yaoyorozu, had even made him a uniform his size.

“Of course,” Nedzu nodded. “Ren it is. But what Aizawa-kun and I would like to talk to you about is that… we think that there is no need to wait how Midoriya will do at the Sport Festival to bring him to the hero course.”

Technically, it would be to bring him back. But Kazuko knew better than to say it out loud.

Just like she knew better than to clearly tell Nedzu and Aizawa that there was no way she was going to announce Midoriya that there was a chance he could go back to a situation where he could be expelled once again from the hero course.

She emptied her coffee cup in three gulps, letting the caffeine clear all her stress and replacing it by a lack of patience for nonsense.

“Apart from the USJ accident, Midoriya had met three villains since the beginning of the year but he has also been working closely with a student from the support course to equip Gen Ed students and he is trying to adopt the weapon made to kill the number 1 hero. Only the hero course can deal with such a student,” Aizawa declared.

Well, now that he was mentioning it.

“Oh, I agree,” Kazuko smiled. Well, showed her teeth but really, who could see the difference? “Midoriya shouldn’t be in gen ed. Instead, he should be in the hero course. Where he had applied. And where he was received, until he was expelled on his first day.”

“He couldn’t control his quirk. He was a danger to himself and to everyone else. I am far from opposed to him getting back in the hero course after the Sport Festival…”

“Sorry to interrupt you but Midoriya and his uncontrollable quirk were accepted in the hero course,” Kazuko reminded him. “I don’t think you’re realizing the effect it had on him. I mean, there is a reason why he doesn’t bother calling adults for help anymore. Which is why I am grateful that his second shadow/bodyguard is supposedly on All Might’s level.”

Midoriya wasn’t able to stop saving people. But now, he was convinced that he had to do this on his own.

So now, it was Kazuko’s job to do something about his self-esteem. Fortunately for her, All Might and Gran Torino (who she suspected to be his father and his grandfather but that was a story that could only be shared in front of the coffee machine in the teacher room) were already his quirk training.

“It was really nice to have this conversation with the both of you,” she smiled. “Unfortunately, I can’t advise one of my students to go back to 1-A. It seems premature. Especially when I am trying to build trust. I am actually hopefully optimistic that he would consider going to therapy.”

And as soon as she was done here, she would find out more about Aldera middle school.

you ever read a fanfic and just sit back and think...someone wrote something THIS good... and then just....published it on the internet....for free.....

I write my fics out in Google Docs and then paste the text into Ao3 when I'm ready to post it. Does anyone else have the problem of pasting with italics? If there's a word in italics next to punctuation, Ao3 will add in a space for some reason and it's kind of infuriating.

One of the AO3 translation volunteers (Min) created a Google Docs script to handle issues when copying from a doc into AO3. It’s really easy to use

create a copy of this google doc. It contains the script that will do all of the HTML formatting for you.

Delete all of the text from the document.

Write or paste your fic/chapter into the document.

Go up to the top menu and click the new menu option Post to AO3, then choose Prepare for posting into the HTML editor

Note: because this is an apps script, you’ll need to give it permission to run the first time. 

The script will automatically mark up your document with the required HTML that you can then paste into the AO3 composition window. \o/

To revert your text back to normal, just go back up to that menu and choose Remove HTML. It will look like regular text again. 

Once you have the doc, you can make a new copy of it for each new fic you write and that way you’ll always have that script available when you need it :)

all the tips I found for drawing a fantasy map are like :) “here’s a strategy to draw the land masses! here’s how to plot islands!” :) and that’s wonderful and I love them all but ??? how? do y'all decide where to put cities/mountains/forests/towns I have my map and my land but I’m throwing darts to decide where the Main Citadel where the Action Takes Place is

okay so i know i said most of this in the replies but it might be easier to actually reblog and say stuff instead lmao

Cities - go near water!  freshwater lakes and rivers (rivers especially) are the best places for cities because A) source of water and B) travel and trade is much easier cus you can put your boats like right there.  Basically ever relevant city ever was built on a lake or a river.

for rivers in general - because gravity, rivers run from mountains (forming from melting snow and ice (this is why they get fat in spring–more stuff melting)) to lakes/ocean where they can empty out (and even lakes will have rivers leading out that eventually get to the ocean), which can help when mapping out where those start and end.  rivers are also much thinner and faster in steeper elevations and very slow and wide when the land is flat

mountains - i like to think of what the tectonic plates look like because that’s what makes mountains!  mountains are also never standalone they’re always in mountain ranges (archipelagos are really just underwater mountain ranges babey).  a cool trick I like to do is occasionally separate mountain ranges across continents, because over time the tectonic plates shifted and literally split the range in half.  These mountains are really old tho so they’ve eroded and therefore it makes them smaller and rounder (like the appalachians) as opposed to relatively young mountain ranges like the rocky mountains which have taller and sharper peaks

Another mountain trick: if your mountains run along the ocean, the ocean side of the mountains will get a LOT of rain while the other side will be very dry–almost desert-like, in fact.  think of temperate rainforests in British Columbia vs the drier conditions in the canadian prairies

forests - depends on how warm the area might be.  coniferous forests are found further north (before you hit the tree line, and then it’s only tundra onwards) but as you head south you get leafier trees, and the leaves tend to get larger too

If you think about general elevation too, you’ll have places that might be swampy (wet + lower).  if your world has an ice age like we did, then glaciers may have carved the land, leaving piles of soil in the south that was left when the ice receded and places where the bedrock has been bared north of that (like the Canadian Shield in Canada–the reason we see that is because of the glaciers)

You might also have a land that’s dotted in a shitton of freshwater lakes as well because the meltwater filled the holes that the glaciers scraped out (this is why canada has so many goddamn lakes)

and if the ice age was more recent than it was in our world, then you might not even have the forest re-growth and it could be a lot of open plains

tl;dr i like to think of major climate events that might have also shaped the land on top of some basic rules
