My entire life he's been surprising me with random free handed gifts like this... And to think I was the one who hung out outside the hood with "artists" and aspiring whatevers... The detail in this piece is sickening. From the shadowing in the letters to the shadows of spray cans he placed in back. I'll never understand where talent comes from, whether it's genetic or not.. but everytime my brother makes me something like this it becomes more and more apparent that it's something you can't pick up.. Whether you hang out with artists or study them on YouTube.. Talent can't be taught. #mybrother #nostencils #notoys #freehand #art #original #ilovehim

"Incredible. Ellen, I love you. To my fellow nominees, I’m so proud to share this journey with you. I’m in awe and have so much respect for you all. To the Academy, thank you. In 1971, Bossier City, Louisiana, there was a teenage girl who was pregnant with her second child. She was a high school dropout and a single mom, but somehow she managed to make a better life for herself and her children. She encouraged her kids to be creative, to work hard and to do something special. That girl is my mother and she’s here tonight. And I just want to say, I love you, Mom. Thank you for teaching me to dream. To my brother, Shannon, the best big brother in the world, you’re a true artist. Thank you so much for sharing this insane and amazing adventure that is 30 Seconds to Mars, and for being my best friend. I love you. Thank you.
To all the dreamers out there around the world watching this tonight in places like the Ukraine and Venezuela, I want to say we are here and as you struggle to… to make your dreams happen, to live the impossible… We’re thinking of you tonight. And this is, is incredibly special as well because there’s so many people that helped me get here. And I just want to say thank you to Focus Features, to Mick Sullivan, to Jim Toth, to Jason Weinberg, to Emma Ludbrook, to Kelly Adams, to the entire Dallas Buyers Club team. Matthew, I love. Jean-Marc. And this for the 36 million people who have lost the battle to AIDS and to those of you out there who have ever felt injustice because of who you are or who you love, tonight I stand here in front of the world with you and for you. Thank you so much and goodnight."
I grew up listening to my mother tell stories about the most incredible people i'll never meet. The people who raised her. Taught her how to put on makeup. Use tampons. Never wear white shoes.. These people were her aunts and uncles. Men who wore dresses during the day and women who wore sequin leotards and danced all night. My mother loved these people. They made her who she is... which means they made me who I am. My mother was a child of AIDS. She lost all of her favorite people in the world to AIDS. And although i'll never get to meet the people who raised her and taught her all of the things she's taught me.. those very people live on forever in characters like Rayon.
These people are real. They exist. They have families. They raise children. They are wives and they are husbands.
Jared Leto deserves all the recognition in the world for not only mastering a character that hits home for so many, like it does for my mother... but for also bringing millions of forgotten souls back to life in the soul of one single character..

This is a photo of one of the sweetest people I'll ever meet in a corner bodega at 2am. His name is Jose and he was very excited to show us his Bob Marley rolling papers. #nyc #goodpeople #bodega ❤️🙏
