Lae Haxxar / The Starlight System |
Artfight References
It's that time of the year again, and we've decided to whip up some simple reference sheets for those participating in Artfight this year. Hoping that, if we have time, we'll also make a simple reference sheet for Thunder, maybe even more of our characters, so please stay tuned!
This is pretty much a sneak peek for you to enjoy, since we haven't finished preparing the character descriptions nor have we finished uploading the rest aside from Lae. We hope you enjoy!
※ PLEASE read the author's notes at the end of the post as we will provide more clarity on how the alters function -- do note that this portrayal is a highly dramatized/fictionalized version based on the symptoms we experience in real life.
This is your standard Lae Haxxar. Her character profile is here, so we won't go into the details on this post.
Please note that any inconsistencies regarding her story vs what we currently have on the pinned post means that certain information might change once we've settled on something concrete!
Post-Order 66, "Lae Haxxar" technically ceases to exist in material reality. Instead, someone called "Starlight" is "driving the bus", so to speak. After reliving every traumatic experience that body had went through due to being triggered by such a monumentally impactful event, "Starlight" has to pick up where "Lae Haxxar" had left off -- the caveat? They became cut off from the Force for a while.
In an effort to find their place in a fracturing galaxy, Starlight starts a small logistics company to make ends meet, operating mainly in the Outer Rim territories to avoid the ever reaching grasp of the Empire.
"on vacation", or sometimes "vacay", is considered to be an "alter ego" or "ego state" of Starlight, often arising when stress mounts to a point where it becomes hard to manage. Instead of frustration or lashing out, "on vacation" tends to take the wheel, having a tendency to leave something unfinished in favor of decompressing and relaxing.
When "on vacation" is fronting, it gives way for accusations of "slacking off" or "being lazy" to arise, due to his lax and carefree nature. But, he doesn't really care. He often times displays selective mutism, choosing when and where to speak. Simply put: if he doesn't want to, he won't.
Notable features/preferred garment: vacation shirt (unbuttoned), cool sunglasses, white/cream belt, boots with long yellow laces, removed leg armor. Overall appearance is practically the same with base Starlight, will sometimes be mistaken as for being Starlight's twin by those unfamiliar. Shares the same height as Starlight, standing at 175cm.
"Xero" is a complete alter of Starlight, stemming from unresolved anger and aggression. Wanting to dissociate himself from Starlight altogether, he takes on a nearly entirely different appearance, and an entirely different outlook on life alongside his personality.
When he fronts, he takes his operations to the other side of the galaxy, away from where Starlight usually operates. Because the two are so different in how others perceive them, they are seen as completely separate people, sometimes being associated as estranged siblings, but nothing more, especially as Xero often denounces and disrespects Starlight in conversation every opportunity he gets.
Notable features/preferred garment: slicked back hair, braid pinned back with an X-shaped clip. Harnesses for his weapons -- usually blasters, shoulder mounted turrets, sometimes a vibroknife too. Asymmetrical fingerless gloves, sunglasses, different trousers, belt with a buckle that has the words "KILL YOU" carved in Aurebesh, high-cut boots with red laces. Taller than Starlight, standing at 185cm.
"Miss Lae" is also a complete alter of Starlight, formed by what fleeting memories they have of the Lae Haxxar from before, but an idealized version of who she was, which would result in a bubbly, cheerful, tooth-rotting sweetheart.
When she fronts, the others usually try to remind her to keep close to where home base is, in order to avoid trouble, especially when the Empire is hunting down survivors of the Jedi Purge. However, given her free spirit and lust for life and excitement, she often feels like she's missing out on what the galaxy has to offer.
Notable features/preferred garment: smoother/wavier hair, big red bow. Wears a similar outfit to base Starlight, only with longer sleeves that cover over her arms, and wears one of the pieces of thigh armor along with the old boots. Shorter than Starlight, standing at 165cm.
