I'm putting a leather cover on my thread book to make it more durable, and debating a layer of board between the paper and leather for extra rigidity.

To answer some questions: this is properly called a Chinese Thread Book, or Zhen Xian Bao. I followed the tutorial below when I made mine several years ago. It's not one single piece of origami, it's actually 31 (very repetitive) pieces that lock into each other. (If memory serves, I believe I added a bit of glue when I attached them to make it extra secure.)

The only modification I made to the pattern that's demonstrated is that I took the largest bottom layer, and added about an inch to its total length so that I would have a gap between both halves and could "close" it like you see above. I used a large pad of manila drawing paper, and just made my proportions as big as I could on the paper--I think I was somewhere near 24 inches on the longest side of the biggest piece, and the book is about 12 inches square.

It does hold objects well! Nothing big or bulky, but I usually have stickers, postcards, pressed flowers, envelopes and stamps in here; I emptied it mostly out because I'm thinking about bringing it to the hobbit larp in the fall. It is a bit delicate--it is just paper--but it's also really fun!

Because the pattern is modular, you could basically stop or continue at any stage--mine is five layers deep, but you could stop at three, or continue to ten, if you could find big enough paper.

Hello hello; I would like to know more about Wasp's role in your au, please! c: I've been intrigued since I read the synopsis with his character design. Like, what was he up to before his reformat? Since you said his altmode is clearly not cybertronion, where was he born? Etc!!

Hi!!

Wasp crash landed on cybertron AS a protoform so he has no memory of who he was before or where he came from. At this point in the war there are no new sparks or protoform at all so shockwave uses him for study to try and make cold construct soldiers. His frame is a helicopter because protoforms need one to survive and SW was used to making big armored war frames!

I follow the idw convention where the maximals and predacons are from a colony world called Eukaris. Wasp was created there, but how he wound up on cybertron … that contains spoilers 😉 however !! his disappearance was not unnoticed… the colony worlds are running out of energon and new sparks are very precious. The predacons have been looking for him!

He sort of lived in the wilderness of cybertron after running off and is very poorly socialized as a result… post war he finds work transporting energon. He is very shy and very sweet.

There is more content for wasp coming down the line.

Thanks for answering <3. Hehe now I'm more intrigued about how he got to cybertron in the first place. As a protoform too, poor boy. The colony worldbuilding is also nice.. I like when TF AUs include lore for places outside of cybertron or the autobot-decepticon war, it's something I try to do too for AUs. If you do decide to make designs for the maximals and predacons, I will be seated!! Eukaris is my favorite colony so Waspinator being created there is very nice.

This version of Wasp is so especially sad, I hope him the best 🫶
