can you imagine how good shows would be if writers thought of women as human beings
can you imagine how good fandoms would be if fans thought of women as human beings
its hard to pay attention to your research like this.....
can someone remove my curse
hello is anyone there
what's your favorite thing to draw? <3
oof i dont think there's ONE specific fandom rn but i love doing buff ladies, so i enjoy drawing vi arcane, the claymore girls, wonder woman etc... i also rly love one piece and avatar (aang And korra) and dc comics 😋 oh! and dnd stuff!! COMM ME TO DRAW UR DND CHARACTERS!!
hi could you talk a little bit about your process when drawing and painting? specially the wonder woman piece rly looks so similar to the og art of hades and I love it!!! thanks in advance <3
well this i gonna be a long ass answer!! but bare with me
first of all i set a pureref up with everything i might need to make it happen, for the hades wonder woman piece it means:
reference from the absolute wonder woman comics (concepts and comic screenshots to figure out outfit, poses, items etc)
reference from the hades game (to figure out rendering and how to translate what i already have from the comics into the hades universe)
more specifically, apollo is here for hair reference, nemesis for color matching and armour render (same as athena), the furies mostly bc of the whip and theseus and the minotaur for lighting and muscle ref.
all these things help inform how to start the piece, so i know what to look for.
🖍 here's a little visual representation of how i do things!
SKETCHING: for the sketch i first did a simple study of nemesis' body so that i had an understanding of how the hades' bodies work (also bc it was the closest body type to what i wanted for wonder woman). then i moved the body to a different pose, added the absolute ww outfit. after that i figured how i wanted to render each piece of clothing. then i (re)did the hair do get a better idea of volume (using the outline tool) and by then i had figure out how the lineart would go! (that's also the moment i made an artistic choice of not making the tattoos part of the lineart, which cost me the Whole tattoos bc when it was time to color i completely forgot about them,,,,,,,,,,,)
🖍 now for rendering:
PIC 1: i usually organize layers by color instead of naming it! i think it makes it easier and faster to understand what each color means. black usually means lines, yellow or light green special effects (usually on top of everything, so the layer hierarchy also helps figuring out what is what), and red for general coloring or flats. here i colored it differently so that each layer color is actually the color that is on that layer. so all red is in the red layer, all silver in silver layer etc...
for rendering i kept looking back and forth between my hades references and my final product and ngl it was really hard for some time (i almost completely scratched the idea for this piece and moved on). when looking at my refs i was making sure to add the right amount of "color jitter" and also a bit of colored highlights on the armour pieces already (which is something that i usually do later).
PIC 2: *the reason the lasso has its own group of layers all together is because i actually made it with the outline tool! so it behaves a little different when coloring it. but besides that, its the same process.
PIC 3: now for finishing touches i added (what was supposed to be) a temporary hades background so that it could inform me on how to do the highlights and make it look appealing. these colors are highly saturated and they keep changing from one color to another all the time so i tried my best to mimic that but also not overdo it.
i hope this is as informative as you expected anon 🙇♀️🙇♀️

The embrace that feels like home
a couple of people over the past few months have been surprised i use and prefer a pen tablet over a pen display so i thought i might do a little graphic about why pen displays shouldn't be thought of as the "final step" of every digital artist's hardware journey, more of a branching path option!
a few additions to common replies this post:
people saying they like the pen display because you have two screens. unless portability is your issue, this is a pretty moot point. you can buy a decent quality 2nd screen for around the price of a mid-range tablet new or 2nd hand screens are pretty easy to scoop as well. my current set up looks like this but i used 2nd hand monitors for years:
this obviously does reduce potability since a (newer) display tablet can be little more portable than an extra standing monitor if you're on laptop and move your workspace around a lot but 2nd monitors are still an option for folks who use pen tablets. colour calibration will never be perfect unless you splurge on a calibrator machine and will always be different across loads of devices so i honestly dont even worry about "perfect" matching colours anymore. a pen display will still need to be calibrated with a calibrator machine to match sRBG (especially mid-range ones)
ergonomics of pen displays. the best reply i've had for this is many people recommending a screen arm for use with display tablets so they're much closer to a 90° angle. this does increase the energy needed in your shoulder/arm from holding your arm up so thats another factor to consider, some folks where commenting that thats still a negative to them but many have said this improves their posture + puts less stress on their back.
extra lil ergonomics note for pen tablets that work for me: vertical mice are your friend. i used to have pretty bad wrist ache + uncomfortable pressure points from how much my hand would need to twist when i used my mouse, a cheap vertical mouse sorted that all out for me.
(my intous surface looks a bit janked around the edges bc it has an ipad matt screen protector cover on it to add back more "tooth" to the surface, the original one under there is mirror smooth from use and less nice to draw on)
Starting off my challenge to make 1 zine every week until march, it’s some of my favourite baby birds!
I’m doing this challenge to try to kick my habit of overthinking and never starting stuff, though I will admit I’m posting this now on my self-appointed deadline day because I spent the whole week overthinking, gotta start somewhere I guess. Once I forced myself to just sit down and just start drawing it only took me an hour which makes me feel a bit silly
