Structuring a School Committee

Here are a few points to consider:

1) Does the committee have the support of the Chief of Schools?

2) Is there at least one member of the Board of Education present during the meetings?

3) Are the approved minutes of the committee published for all to see?

4) Does it meet at least four times a year?

5) The committee must exist EVERY school year, called a Standing Committee.

6) Are the committee members knowledgeable about the subject matter?

7) Is the committee willing to accept input from experts outside of the organization?
