True tea on MUA’s photoshopping their work.

most people hate on MUA’s who retouch their work in photoshop, and I understand to a certain extent but if the makeup artist is editing the work themselves, that’s still their makeup artistry. ⠀⠀⠀⠀

photoshop itself takes skill for one and two, it doesn’t do all the work for you with a press of a button, it only does what you know how using both your photoshop and makeup artistry skills!

and don’t get me started on photography/lighting. lighting plays a huge part in needing to edit your work. bright white lights can wash out color, hence why photographers edit and color correct skin complexions.

like... if you can do both, you’re skilled af! just don’t lie about editing your work. that’s really ugly. ⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀

if your concern is being mislead by retouched photos of an mua whom you’re considering booking then i’d personally ask for raw images of their work or look for videos where they showcase their work as is on their clients. ⠀⠀⠀⠀
