“Oh-Uh” Elena stuttered as she was caught by surprise by the other woman, desperation clear in her eyes. “Okay” she whispered, speaking more clearly this time she did a couple of body language tricks she had picked up on set “So Carrie is in charge of the music and snack, and i’m gonna be making those delicious chocolate truffles you loved so much last time! Can you bring the wine?”. She made up a story, and hoped her acting was on point, i mean she was an actress, but she was never caught off guard like that.

“Yes, for the party tonight right?” she asked turning on her best acting, hey she might not be an actress, but she did pick up aa thing or two from her parents. “I should probably go get that now if I want to have time to get ready” her fake laugh filled the room.

“Definitely, you know how Carrie is when it comes to being on time” she rolled her eyes at the mention of ‘Carrie’ “I should probably head home too, i’ll walk with you to the parking lot!” she suggested, thinking the woman must’ve been in a dangerous or strange situation, so it would be best to make sure she got to her car safely.

Genevieve sat at the coffee shop, her white scrubs now having scuffs on them from working all day. Sitting around the table she listened to the other doctors continue to talk about work, that she was over listening to. Looking around she saw someone pass by, “Hey!” she called out, not even really looking to see who it was. “Pretend you need me for something, please” she plead to them in a whisper.

“Yeah, you seem to be more of a ‘night in’ kind of guy” she smiled “But i am glad you’re enjoying the gala! Your wife is the host, right? She did an amazing job!”

“I am very much a ‘night in’ kind of guy.” Dan chuckled and smiled. “She will love to hear that. I’ll have to introduce you to her so you can tell her yourself. I think she’s a little upset that the majority of people sent their children to represent them rather than showing up themselves.”

“I’d love to meet her!” Elena smiled, but soon turned into a frown “Oh no! I understand what she must be thinking, being young and in the spotlight might feel like there’s not a lot of people that take you seriously.” she gave him a sad smile just thinking about how his wife must be feeling. “Well, if you see her around please let me know! I’d love to get to know her!”

“Hi! I’m Elena, it’s nice meeting you Frankie” she smiled sweetly at the woman before her “I just moved here, quite literally landed a few hours ago” she laughed “You look gorgeous, by the way!”

“Wow, you just moved here and you’re already at a Gala? That’s pretty awesome. When I moved here, I ordered an extra large cheese pizza, bought a bottle of wine and watched a crappy movie.” Frankie admitted with a laugh and looked down at her gown and then at the other woman. “Thank you so much, so do you.”

“I guess you could say i have a very busy schedule” joked Elena. “Although wine, pizza and a cheesy movie does sound great.”, looking at her gown, Elena waved her off “Please! You’re too kind, this was the only thing i had in my bag, i don’t even think the tag is read-able” mentioned Hugo, seeing as this was an old-overused piece by the woman, although it was her favorite.

Elena was used to these kinds of events, when she started to get more recognition as an actress, gala and party invites were sent to her quite often, and when she became a successful producer as well, they turned to be part of her routine. Since she had just moved to New York, she knew almost nobody (at least personally) at the event, so she stuck to her table until someone approached her.

“Hello, Dan Humphrey. It’s very nice to meet you” said Elena, sticking her hand out for a handshake, her accent coming up in the majority of the words “I’m doing quite well, thank you. What about you?”

Dan shook her hand and smiled. “It’s nice to meet you too. I am...kinda enjoying it. Galas aren’t really my thing.” He admitted.
