kennedy fiddles with the pen in her hand, doodling swirls on the back of the napkin. there was a slight hum of activity in the background, the grill’s customers milling in & out of the restaurant & ordering drinks & snacks. it was now mid- summer, & kennedy & damon had yet to find anything conclusive on where stefan ( & klaus, the duo were convinced they were together ) had disappeared to. there had been a few leads that looked promising, but damon & ric had went to investigate those without her.

she knows they’re trying, they all are. but it still doesn’t help the sting she feels when they come up with nothing. it takes a lot out of elena just to muster a sad, half hearted smile. setting her mug down, she begins tracing the rim with her index finger, something she’s known to do when thinking. bonnie wasn’t able to do a locator spell, due to how much the ancestors had wiped her out && elena didn’t want to ask for another favor, even if it was small in comparison to killing klaus. ‘ what was the last state they were in ?? ’ she says, not bothering to look up from her half empty coffee cup.
