푸른 밤의 푸른 달 (A Blue Moon on a Blue Night)

Over the past 8 months, I’ve been creating a book compiling some of my favorite Jonghyun quotes from Blue Night Radio. I, like many others, found comfort in listening to him on Blue Night, and reading the English translations later brought me a sense of peace that I find difficult to describe in words. When they were recirculating on Tumblr earlier this year, I was inspired to create a book dedicated to him that fans could read and find comfort in as well.

It includes English quotes originally translated by fans (Cosmicsticks, Fantaemsie, Minyeodan, Sullaem, and Thatcoolcatmeow) that I found through @fyjjong here on Tumblr. I had the help of two native Korean speakers to translate them back into Korean so that they could be written in his own language. I also created illustrations inspired by his words. I then case bound the book by hand with a translucent vellum dust jacket and end papers illustrated with roses.

Creating this book was an incredibly emotional experience for me, but one I would gladly do over again in a heartbeat. I got to spend hours upon hours reflecting on his words, feeling inexplicably close to him and admiring his soft, gentle heart. It allowed me to go through the grieving process while creating something dedicated to him, and I feel incredibly lucky to have been able to spend this much time with him. I want everyone who misses him to experience that feeling, and I hope that this book can serve as a small way to remember him and the goodness he gave us.
