I know we barely have anything on the Watcher and her lore/characterization since she’s not in STS2 but I imagine between all the characters she’s the most at peace with her emotions
Her stance-switching is fully under her control and she is very emotionless most of the time (the Sensory Stone event recalls a memory she has where she’s not bothered at all by a fight involving a dead carcass). As a monk from an ascetic order, she has learned to suppress her emotions and is able to channel what she feels into the divine stances, which she uses to her advantage in battle.
I feel like if the Watcher was a part of the STS2 group, she’d definitely be the most level-headed and mature out of everyone. She can see things rationally and would probably be the mediator between most conflicts in the group (especially between Necrobinder and Regent who I imagine would tend to clash heads a lot over what would be best to do). In my headcanon, before Watcher joins, Defect tries to mediate in conflicts as it hates to see everyone fighting, but can only do so much as it is a robot that doesn’t fully understand human(oid) nature and communicates frequently through beeps. Watcher is rather quiet most of the time but also knows how to use her words succinctly and effectively, so she’s able to quickly resolve conflicts and offer her wisdom. She also has a naturally soothing nature that draws the other characters in. She’s very empathetic and observant and has a lot of insight into the other characters, being able to somewhat sense their thoughts. She doesn’t express herself emotionally and isn’t particularly warm, but she’s also not a cold person either.
Anyway here’s my headcanon on her general relationship with the other characters (from a canon perspective):
The Ironclad — he looks strong and acts strong on the outside, and seems relatively emotionless and cold. However, she can sense his endless fear and immense guilt about his past actions eating him from the inside out along with the foreign presence that is Vakuu’s demonic aura controlling him and his thoughts a lot of the time. (She doesn’t know it’s Vakuu right away, but when she encounters Vakuu herself alongside Ironclad, she knows.) She can sense the human still inside him, wanting to come out and wanting to regain full control of his mind and his autonomy. She wishes there was a way that she could help soothe him and help him to forgive himself and his past wrongdoings. Ironclad respects her but both he and Vakuu (when Vakuu is in control) are utterly creeped out by how perceptive she is.
The Silent — Silent wants to think she’s as good at hiding her emotions as she is at physically hiding from enemies and engaging in petty thievery, but Watcher can see right through her and feel the crippling insecurity, self-hatred, and intense emotions that she harbors inside. She may be quiet but her mind is very loud and Watcher can feel it. Watcher doesn’t know about her sisters, but she does sense her trauma and pain from growing up in their care, her desire to earn someone else’s approval, the feeling that she’s running out of time (due to her terminal Blight sickness), and a desire to prove herself before it’s too late. I think Silent is mildly intimidated by her and though she respects her as an ally, seeing how powerful Watcher is in battle especially with her stance-switching triggers her insecurities about her own fighting ability.
The Defect — Watcher is the type to only fight when it is necessary just like the construct, so she understands its hesitation towards killing its creator the Architect even if it (reluctantly) agrees that it might be for the best. She isn’t as affected emotionally by death/destruction as the construct (who values life and doesn’t enjoy killing or destroying things), and she’s not quite as pacifist, but she understands its desire for mediation and for everyone to get along. Defect greatly appreciates Watcher’s insights on human nature and loves learning from her.
The Regent — the Prince of Starris is thoroughly impressed by her wisdom and sees her as a worthy intellectual equal/rival. She intimidates and challenges him but in a good way and it only makes him want to read and learn more about various topics so he can have a leg up on her when they debate. She is not annoyed with or bothered by him or his antics like the other characters — she is in fact the most patient out of all of them — and is very happy to share her knowledge with him, especially regarding the universe, the cosmos, and the military history of various planets/civilizations. They both really enjoy having intellectual conversations with each other and having respectful, philosophical debates.
The Necrobinder — the lich looks up to her a lot and thinks she’s so cool. She likes venting to her about her own grief and other issues that she’s not willing to open about to the others and finds her to be an incredibly trustworthy, reliable confidant. Watcher helps her see that sometimes she isn’t the most level-headed and while Necro is still very focused and dead set on her quest for vengeance, talking to Watcher brings her back to earth. Watcher makes her realize a bit more that being in a constant state of anger isn’t always good for her and that it’s necessary to relax every once in a while so she can remain dedicated to her goal. From Watcher’s perspective, she’s fascinated by Necro and the mystery of the Forbidden Grimoire she’s bound to, and wants to help the lich find out who wrote the book/why it caused her skin and organs to disintegrate.
